Wed Aug 2115:51Will Warren Back In The Big Leagues
The New York Yankees recalled right-handed pitching prospect Will Warren from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday and placed right-hander Luis Gil (back) on the 15-day injured list with a lower-back strain in a corresponding move. Even though Warren, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has an 8.59 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in his first three major-league starts this year, he's worth a look for rotation depth in deep mixed leagues now that he's back in the majors and likely to take Gil's spot in New York's starting rotation. The 25-year-old former eighth-round pick in 2021 out of Southeastern Louisiana allowed 14 runs on 19 hits (three homers) while walking five and striking out 17 in 14 2/3 innings in his three starts against the Phillies, Angels and White Sox. In the long run, Warren profiles as a back-end starter in the Bronx.

Wed Aug 1418:44Will Warren Recalled, Starting On Wednesday
New York Yankees starting pitcher Will Warren has been recalled to take the mound against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. This appears to be a spot start for Warren, so fantasy managers looking for long term help aren't likely going to get it here. Warren has allowed 12 earned runs over two starts with the big league club this season. He holds a 6.11 ERA across 20 starts in Triple-A, so 2024 hasn't been a good year for Warren. He does have a favorable matchup against the White Sox sluggish lineup, but remains a shaky streaming option given his numbers this season.
