Tue Jan 10 2023 | 16:55 | Colin Moran Agrees With The Mariners |
The Seattle Mariners agreed with free-agent first baseman Colin Moran on a minor-league deal on Tuesday that includes an invite to major-league spring training, according to a source. Moran will head to the American League after spending the 2022 season with the Cincinnati Reds. In 128 plate appearances over 42 games, he hit .211/.305/.376 with a .681 OPS, five home runs, 23 RBI and 11 runs scored. The 30-year-old left-handed-hitting corner infielder will provide an ascending Mariners club with some more corner-infield depth heading into 2023, but he won't be on the fantasy radar. In 502 career games (1,692 plate appearances) over seven big-league seasons, Moran has posted a .263/.327/.415 slash line with 50 homers, 239 RBI, 167 runs scored and a stolen base. |

Fri May 27 2022 | 16:11 | Colin Moran Optioned To Minors |
The Cincinnati Reds optioned infielder Colin Moran and right-hander Jared Solomon to Triple-A Louisville and selected the contract of right-hander Graham Ashcraft from Louisville in a corresponding move on Friday. Left-hander Ross Detwiler was also reinstated from the bereavement list. Detwiler had four home runs in a four-game stretch early this month, but he's mostly been on the bench behind starter Joey Votto. The former Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed hitter is slashing just .202/.284/.351 with four home runs, 22 RBI and eight runs scored in 109 plate appearances over 34 games for the Reds in 2022. He'll only become fantasy relevant if Votto misses more time. |

Thu Mar 17 2022 | 19:33 | Colin Moran Signs With Reds |
The Cincinnati Reds and infielder Colin Moran have agreed to a one-year deal, according to the Cincinnati Reds. Not exactly the consolation Reds fans were hoping for after trading away Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez, and Sonny Gray earlier this week. Moran posted a .258/.334/.390 slash line with 10 home runs across 318 at-bats in 2021 but specialized against right-handed pitching where he posted a .784 OPS. He only makes sense for fantasy purposes in NL only and extremely deep leagues/ |

Mon Nov 29 2021 | 20:33 | Pirates Designate Colin Moran And Steven Brault For Assignment |
The Pittsburgh Pirates have removed two notable players from their roster, designating first baseman Colin Moran and pitcher Steven Brault for assignment. The moves make room on the 40-man roster for pitcher Jose Quintana and the recently re-signed first baseman Yoshi Tsutsugo. Moran was the last remaining piece of the Gerrit Cole trade on Pittsburgh's roster. He's slashed .267/.329/.418 for his career, spending the past four seasons as a starter for the Pirates. He has had deep-league fantasy value at times and figures to play a role wherever he catches on. Tsutsugo should garner the vacated at-bats, and could be a late-round option in fantasy drafts. |

Sun May 9 2021 | 14:55 | Pirates put Moran on IL, Hayes to 60-day Iist, claim Gamel |
CHICAGO (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates put infielder Colin Moran on the 10-day injured list with a strained left groin amid several roster moves Sunday before playing the Chicago Cubs. Moran exited Saturday’s game against the Cubs in the bottom of the first inning. He caught a liner and was injured when he ran and dived to first base trying to complete a double play. Moran is hitting .297 with four home runs and 19 RBIs in 32 games. Infielder Ke’Bryan Hayes, one of the Pirates' brightest hopes for this season, was transferred from the 10-day IL to the 60-day list. The rookie had a strong spring, homered on opening day at Wrigley Field and then exited early in the second game with a strained left wrist that's sidelined him. The Pirates claimed outfielder Ben Gamel off waivers from the Cleveland Indians, who designated him for assignment Wednesday. He went 1 for 14 with a double and six strikeouts before he was optioned to the Indians’ alternate training site April 17. Pittsburgh also selected outfielder Troy Stokes Jr. to the major league roster and recalled right-handed pitcher Geoff Hartlieb from Triple-A Indianapolis. Stokes was in the starting lineup Sunday against the Cubs and made his major league debut. The Pirates designated right-handed pitcher Michael Feliz for assignment. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports |

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Michael Conforto hit a tiebreaking home run in the ninth inning and the New York Mets benefited from a very questionable call by the second base umpire to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 Saturday night. Conforto led off the ninth by connecting against Hector Neris (1-3). Conforto also had a two-run double in a four-run first inning against former teammate Zack Wheeler. The Mets squandered the 4-0 lead but recovered to win for just the fourth time in 12 games — even after center fielder Brandon Nimmo and third baseman J.D. Davis exited with hand injuries. Alec Bohm tied it with a two-run homer for the Phillies, who have alternated wins and losses in their last 10 games. Philadelphia hasn’t won consecutive games since a three-game sweep of Atlanta to open the season. With one out in the bottom of the seventh, second base umpire Jose Navas ruled Andrew McCutchen ran out of the baseline to avoid an attempted tag by shortstop Francisco Lindor on what became an inning-ending...
