Mon Sep 218:09Jack Leiter Starting On Monday
Texas Rangers rookie starting pitcher Jack Leiter has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take the ball against the New York Yankees on Monday. This is a quick turnaround for Leiter who also pitched last Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox. He allowed three runs (two earned) over four innings of work during that game. He'll face a much stronger lineup on Monday, so Leiter won't be a recommended streaming option for Monday's slate. The rookie right-hander holds a 12.83 ERA, 2.40 WHIP, and 11/8 K/BB ratio across four starts this season. There should be better streaming options available ahead of Monday's games.

Wed Aug 2812:51Jack Leiter Expected To Stay In Rotation
The Texas Rangers have recalled right-handed pitching prospect Jack Leiter from Triple-A Round Rock in order to have him start on Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field, and they also "intend to give him some runway" in the rotation for the final month of the season in September. It makes sense with veteran Max Scherzer (shoulder) now looking unlikely to return, plus the Rangers aren't in the mix for a playoff spot. The 24-year-old Leiter, who is ranked as Texas' No. 4 prospect on MLB Pipeline, has been much better at Round Rock this year than he was in his first three big-league starts earlier in 2024. In those three starts, he surrendered 19 runs (17 earned) while walking six and fanning seven in just 9 1/3 innings. His matchup against Chicago doesn't get any better, but until Leiter shows better command in the majors, he'll be a shaky fantasy streaming option.

Tue Aug 2722:16Jack Leiter Will Start On Wednesday
Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy confirmed on Tuesday that the plan is for right-handed pitching prospect Jack Leiter to start on Wednesday evening against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. Leiter was on the team's taxi squad on Tuesday and will officially be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, gets the best matchup in baseball, but he's still going to be a bit of a dicey streaming option for fantasy managers after pitching to an eye-popping 16.39 ERA and 2.57 WHIP with seven strikeouts, six walks and three homers allowed in 9 1/3 innings over his first three big-league starts earlier in 2024. Leiter has been much better in 77 innings for Round Rock (3.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 110:35 K:BB), but better command will be required if he's to wants to pitch well on Wednesday and perhaps stick around in the rotation in Texas once rosters expand.

Fri Aug 2319:22Jack Leiter A Candidate To Start On Wednesday For Rangers
Texas Rangers right-handed pitching prospect Jack Leiter is a candidate to start next Wednesday on the road against the Chicago White Sox. Leiter, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, could rejoin Texas' starting rotation late in the season now that it looks increasingly unlikely the Rangers will make the postseason. The 24-year-old former second overall pick in 2021 from Vanderbilt looked overmatched in his first three MLB starts earlier this year, surrendering 19 runs (17 earned) on 18 hits (three homers) while walking six and striking out seven in 9 1/3 innings. Leiter has looked a lot better at Triple-A Round Rock lately, though, prompting the Rangers to consider giving him another shot in the big leagues. A matchup against the lowly White Sox doesn't get much better for fantasy streaming purposes. Leiter will need to show better command of his fastball to find success at the highest level.

Fri Aug 1607:16Jack Leiter Strikes Out 11 On Thursday
Texas Rangers starting pitching prospect Jack Leiter struck out a batter to record every out on Thursday evening. The right-hander was tasked to record just 11 outs and did so by striking out every batter. He allowed just one earned run, one hit, and one free pass. Across his past 36 innings at Triple-A Round Rock, the former number-two overall pick has performed quite well, holding a 2.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 17:54 BB:K ratio. This is a good sign, as he posted a high 4.63 ERA through his first 35 frames of the summer at Triple-A. Leiter earned a promotion to the major leagues earlier this summer but struggled as he allowed 17 earned runs in nine innings of work. However, if Leiter continues to perform well at Triple-A, he may earn another opportunity down the stretch.

Mon Jul 2210:10Jack Leiter Deals In First Start After Break At Triple-A
Texas Rangers pitching prospect Jack Leiter was sharp in his first start after the All-Star break going 4 2/3 innings allowing no runs on three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts for Triple-A Round Rock. The 25-year-old right-hander lowered his minor-league season ERA to 3.59 with a 1.29 WHIP. Leiter struggled in his appearances with Texas this season, but the Rangers' No. 5 prospect has been largely effective at Triple-A this season. He is still a prospect worth keeping tabs on if he can continue to pitch well at Round Rock and head back to the Rangers with his confidence high.
