Miami Marlins pitching prospect Adam Mazur earned International League Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance this past week for the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Mazur pitched six shutout innings allowing just one hit with no walks and four strikeouts in his latest outing. Since joining Jacksonville, Mazur, the Marlins' No. 12 prospect, is 1-1 with a 4.74 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in four starts. In 19 innings pitched with the Jumbo Shrimp, he has 15 strikeouts with just two walks. Mazur made eight starts for the Padres this season before he was traded to Miami. He pitched to a 7.49 ERA in the majors this season and could get another look with Miami when rosters expand in September.

Mazur checked in as SD's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and made his first eight major-league starts this year before the trade. The former second-round pick in 2022 out of Iowa has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues, going 1-3 with a 7.49 ERA (6.22 FIP) and 1.81 WHIP with a 22:21 K:BB in 33 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old also got hit around in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League before his call-up. It remains to be seen if the Marlins will continue letting him face big-league pitchers the rest of this year, but Mazur could certainly benefit from some more development on the farm.

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Adam Mazur has been recalled to take the ball against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. The 23-year-old was demoted a few weeks ago after struggling during a handful of starts with the Padres. Mazur holds an ugly 7.84 ERA, 1.84 WHIP, and 21/19 K/BB across seven starts in the big leagues. This is a tough assignment for Mazur given how strong the O's offense has been this season. Fantasy managers should look for a better streaming option ahead of Friday's game.

Mazur allowed five runs on Tuesday against a weak Seattle Mariners offense and it will remain to be seen if he will be back with the club following the upcoming All-Star break. The right-hander has pitched very well throughout his minor league career, but has looked overmatched in his debut season in the big leagues. Mazur has been up and down with the Padres this season, but his 7.84 ERA in seven starts is evidence that he needs more seasoning on the farm. For now, Mazur is only worth holding onto in dynasty leagues.
