Tue Mar 25 201410:29Ben Garland a 'dark horse' for Broncos LG job
The Denver Post considers Ben Garland a "dark horse" for the Broncos' left-guard vacancy.
The more logical situation is moving RT Orlando Franklin to left guard and letting Chris Clark play right tackle. Garland, however, has been on the practice squad the past two seasons, so the team obviously is high on him. The former college defensive tackle will have a "chance to compete" for the job, per GM John Elway.

The Broncos have moved Ben Garland from defensive tackle to offensive guard.
Garland was a three-year starter at defensive tackle while at Air Force and then signed in Denver as an undrafted free agent following the 2010 draft. Air Force alum Ben Garland is still pursuing an NFL career and recently gave up an opportunity to begin pilot training.
Garland, who turns 30 in a week, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Broncos last spring and spent the year on the "reserve/military" list. He won't be eligible to play in 2011, but could get a sort of work release from the Air Force next year. Garland is a 6'5/275-pound defensive lineman.
