The 49ers have waived Dockett (ribs), the Sacramento Bee reports.
Dockett was due to earn a $250,000 roster bonus next week, so the 49ers will move on, while the 34-year-old is now a candidate to catch on elsewhere as a depth defensive tackle.

Dockett sustained a cracked rib and is doubtful for Thrusday's preseason finale against the Chargers, CSN Bay Area reports.
The injury is not presumed to be serious, and Dockett has a decent shot at suiting up week 1 against the Vikings. He will serve as one of the team's pass-rush specialists.

Dockett will likely serve a pass-rush specialist role with the 49ers, CSN Bay Area reports.
Dockett - who made his preseason debut last Sunday - has been practicing primarily in nickel packages during training camp. This will be a new role for the 34-year-old lineman, as he has spent most of his career with Arizona as a starter. Dockett - who is coming off of an ACL tear - has embraced the role, as it will keep him healthier and allow him to maximize his best ability, getting to the quarterback.

Dockett made his training camp debut Sunday when the club practiced in nickel packages, CSN Bay Area reports.
Dockett - who's knee has been medically cleared for action - was held out of base formations during Saturday's practice, but was a full participant when the team practiced in the nickel Sunday. Coach Jim Tomsula stated that Dockett has "great value" playing one of the interior spots in the nickel formation. But he also didn't rule out Dockett being used at one of the end spots in base formations, stating that, "We've all seen [Dockett] sit on double-teams and dominate on first and second down. He can do them all." So he may simply be held out of base formations during training camp in an effort to keep him healthy.

Dockett (knee) did not appear on the 49ers' initial injury report that was released Tuesday.
The newly acquired Dockett was rehabbing from a torn ACL that cost him the 2014 season. Reports were that his rehabbing process was ahead of schedule, but his absence from the injury report indicates that he should be ready to go by the start of the season. The 49ers are hoping that Dockett can replace the production at defensive end that they lost due to the retirement of Justin Smith.

Dockett (knee) said after Tuesday's practice that his recovery process is "way ahead of schedule" and expects to be ready by the start of the regular season, Cam Inman of the Mercury News reports.
Dockett missed the 2014 season with a torn ACL but is apparently on track to resume his career ahead of the 2015 season. He's the favorite to start up front on the defensive line, although Tony Jerod-Eddie and Lawrence Okoye will be waiting in the wings if Dockett is a bit rusty after such a prolonged absence.
Thu Mar 5 201509:59Dockett (knee) agreed to two-year deal with 49ers on Thursday
Dockett (knee) agreed to a two-year deal with the 49ers on Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
The deal can't be put in writing until March 10, but the agreement to bring Dockett to San Francisco seems to be complete. The 33-year-old defensive lineman missed the entire 2014 campaign due to a torn ACL, but if the typical timeline for this injury holds up, he should be able to participate in the majority of training camp. Once healthy, Dockett will compete with the likes of Tony Jerod-Eddie and Tank Carradine to become a fixture in the defensive line rotation.
Fri Feb 27 201516:21Darnell Dockett: Released By Cardinals
Dockett was released by the Cardinals on Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Dockett already acknowledged the possibility of a split, but it's still possible the two sides will work things out as the veteran defensive tackle prepares for his age-34 season. Never one to be shy about his opinions, Dockett seems to have a good relationship with the Arizona fanbase and organization. Now more than six months removed from tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee, Dockett should be healthy in time for the start of the 2015 season. He had 46 tackles (36 solo) and 4.5 sacks over 16 games in 2013, and he's long been more valuable than his statistics alone suggest.

Dockett has so far lost 15-20 pounds during his rehab from a torn ACL in his right knee, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Dockett relayed Wednesday that the weight loss is intended to improve his quickness and return to the field sooner than expected. As he enters the final season of a four-year extension signed in 2010, he acknowledged that he may have played his last snap as a Cardinal due to a cap hit of nearly $10 million for the upcoming campaign. If he remains in the Arizona desert, though, he'll team with Calais Campbell to form a stout defensive front.
Mon Aug 18 201421:53Darnell Dockett: MRI Confirms ACL Tear
Dockett will miss the entire 2014 season due to a torn ACL.
Dockett sustained the injury during Monday's practice, and an MRI from later in the day confirmed the Cardinals' worst fears. He'll require season-ending surgery, leaving a starting job up for grabs for players such as Frostee Rucker or Kareem Martin. The Cards' run defense now risks becoming less effective, which is something fantasy players may want to take note of when looking at early-season matchups.
Mon Aug 18 201421:28Dockett believed to have torn ACL and MCL
Dockett is believed to have torn his ACL and MCL, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
If the report is true, Dockett will likely undergo surgery and miss the entire 2014 season. It would be a major blow for a stout Cardinal defense, who would look to replace him with the likes of Frostee Rucker or Kareem Martin.
Mon Aug 18 201419:06Darnell Dockett: Right Knee Injury
Dockett sustained a right knee injury during Monday's practice, spurring an MRI, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Dockett required the use of a cart to leave the field, but the severity of the ailment likely won't be known until the aforementioned MRI is performed. If he misses any time, rookie Kareem Martin and holdover Frostee Rucker will further factor into the mix at defensive end.
Mon Jan 13 201414:00Cardinals may ask Dockett for pay cut
The Cardinals may approach LE Darnell Dockett about a pay cut this offseason.
Dockett is owed $5.75 million in salary and bonuses after struggling as a pass rusher in 2013, recording 4.5 sacks. He turns 33 in May. The Cards do not have a viable in-house replacement, so GM Steve Keim will have to tread lightly with Dockett, who remains a critical piece of Arizona's stout run defense.

Wed May 8 201310:58Darnell Dockett 'hated' the scheme last year
Darnell Dockett admitted that he "hated" the 3-4 scheme former DC Ray Horton ran last season.
Dockett was asked to keep offensive linemen off the linebackers, not make plays himself. He ended up with just 1.5 sacks and 34 tackles in 15 games -- his worst numbers since 2005. New defensive coordinator Todd Bowles will run a hybrid scheme that features Dockett in his natural role -- an interior pass-rusher that disrupts plays in the backfield. "It's like a million pounds off your shoulders," Dockett said. Expect a bounce-back season.

Sun Jan 27 201310:24Dockett was close to requesting trade in ARZ
Darnell Dockett said he would have asked for a trade had Ken Whisenhunt returned as the Cardinals' head coach.
It's not a secret that Dockett was unhappy with his role in since departed DC Ray Horton's defense, and his numbers showed that, as he mostly disappeared in games last year. Now, with Bruce Arians in the fold as head coach, Dockett is determined to get back to his 2007-10 form. He is expected to move back to the middle of the defense, and Dockett's sack numbers should see an uptick.

Thu Jan 24 201317:37Dockett to be more of an interior pass rusher
New coach Bruce Arians told Darnell Dockett that he will be more of a full-time interior pass rusher in the Cardinals' 2013 defense.
Dockett was wishy-washy when asked by reporters after the season if he wanted to return to Arizona. He sounds genuinely amped now. "He told me I was going to play some of my regular positions, positions I played when I was a dominant force in the middle," Dockett said. "And that got me fired up." Playing less of a two-gapping end spot moving forward, Dockett's sack numbers should rise.

Mon Dec 31 201212:28Dockett vague on Cardinals future
Darnell Dockett gave a vague response when asked if he wanted to return to the Cardinals in 2013.
Dockett hinted that he feels unwanted and that the organization needs to be more committed to winning, but also says he's content in Arizona. He was one of several veterans to butt heads with coach Ken Whisenhunt this season. "At the end of the day my loyalty is with the Cardinals," Dockett said. "I have given this organization everything I've got. I love playing here. I love some of the talent we've got."

Mon Dec 3 201218:26Report: Cards may discipline DT Dockett
Arizona Sports 620 reports that an undisclosed incident that occurred between Cardinals RE Darnell Dockett and FS Kerry Rhodes late in Sunday's loss to the Jets may result in disciplinary action for Dockett.
Expect more details to emerge by Tuesday. The Cardinals have lost eight straight games, so it wouldn't be shocking if the team began to unravel a bit. Rhodes was the best player on the field in the Jets game, racking up six tackles, three pass breakups, two interceptions, and a forced fumble in the loss.

Dockett and O'Brien Schofield (probable, knee) were upgraded to full practice weeks after being limited Wednesday. The Cardinals will be without FS Kerry Rhodes (lower back), but don't have any other injuries on defense. ILB Paris Lenon (knee) is listed as probable.
