Tue Mar 12 201316:51Broncos steal away Vasquez with $23.5M pact
Broncos signed OG Louis Vasquez to a four-year, $23.5 million contract.
The Chargers claimed that retaining Vasquez was a priority, but they never proved it with a contract offer. Now they let the second-best guard available hit the market and he signed with a division rival. A top-13 overall guard last season according to Pro Football Focus, the 6'5/335 is especially effective as a pass blocker. He'll be as asset in the Broncos' quest to keep Peyton Manning upright.

Mon Mar 11 201319:40Vasquez still a 'top priority' for Chargers
The Union-Tribune San Diego says re-signing RG Louis Vasquez is still a "top priority" for the Chargers.
They sure haven't acted like it. As of Monday afternoon, the new Chargers regime had yet to even make a contract offer to Vasquez. Losing Vasquez would be a devastating blow for an already lackluster line, but he's expected to test the market and chase the dollar signs.

Mon Mar 11 201314:47Chargers still haven't made Vasquez an offer
The Chargers still haven't made a contract offer to free agent OG Louis Vasquez.
Vasquez was initially turned off by what the Union-Trib San Diego refers to as a "modest/insulting" contract proposal under ex-GM A.J. Smith. It's been crickets under new GM Tom Telesco. The Chargers have one of the worst offensive line situations in football and risk losing their best linemen to a thin guard market on which Vasquez will be coveted. The Colts will be in hot pursuit.

Sun Mar 10 201319:40Chargers still haven't offered Louis Vasquez
The Chargers still haven't made an offer to free agent OG Louis Vasquez.
New GM Tom Telesco has assured Vasquez that he's a top priority, but the Chargers aren't prepared to set the market. Coming off the best season of his four-year career, the 2009 third-round pick is likely fine with that. He's the clear No. 2 guard available in free agency, behind only Buffalo's Andy Levitre. Expect Vasquez to garner heavy interest come Tuesday.

Sat Mar 9 201317:28Titans, Colts, Bills chasing Vasquez, Levitre
Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole reports the Titans, Colts, and Bills are "chasing" free agent OGs Louis Vasquez and Andy Levitre.
Cole adds that the Chargers' chances of keeping Vasquez are "slim." It would be a mammoth loss for a San Diego line that is already thin on capable blockers. Both Vasquez and Levitre will likely clear $8 million annually on their next deal, while the loser of the trio of teams will likely focus its attention on the Brandon Moore's abd Donald Thomas' of the world.

Fri Mar 8 201309:36Vasquez's rep: He wants to test the market
Free agent OG Louis Vasquez's agent believes the Chargers have "genuine" interest in re-signing his client, but says he "wants to test the market."
"The Chargers had a chance to get something done last November," Vasquez's rep ominously said. "Now, Lou wants to explore every option." Vasquez's rep also confirmed he "definitely" expects the Colts to show interest. The Union-Tribune San Diego reported last week the Colts were going to "make a run" at Vasquez. His market should be robust.

Wed Feb 27 201310:14FA Louis Vasquez continues to gain buzz
ESPN's Adam Schefter calls Louis Vasquez "one of the biggest sleeper free agents out there."
The Chargers are going to have their hands full retaining Vasquez thanks to supply and demand. Outside of Andy Levitre, there simply aren't many starting caliber guards available. The Chargers may have to pay more than market value if they want to get Vasquez locked up before free agency opens in two weeks.

Mon Feb 25 201318:54Report: Colts to make run at OG Louis Vasquez
The Union-Tribune San Diego reports the Colts "will make a run" at free agent OG Louis Vasquez.
This assumes Vasquez will hit the market; the Chargers can't afford to let him go and are willing to pour money into their offensive line. The Colts' interest makes plenty of sense, though. Indy is weak on the interior O-Line, several old Chargers coaches are now on the Colts' staff, and new Indianapolis VP of Football Operations Jimmy Raye spent the past decade-plus in the San Diego organization. Vasquez and Andy Levitre are far and away the most desirable two guards in a top-heavy market at the position.

Mon Feb 25 201312:21Report: Bolts zeroed in on improving O-line
The Union-Tribune San Diego reports the Chargers are likely to focus on improving their offensive line at the "expense of other spots."
Specifically, "everything" reporter Kevin Acee hears "indicates the Chargers will concentrate resources on the OL - at expense of other spots." As Acee puts it, they've "gotta do what they gotta do." A commitment to saving their line should make re-signing free agent LG Louis Vasquez a no-brainer. The UTSD reported last week re-upping Vasquez was the Bolts' "top priority."

Fri Feb 22 201311:55Chargers make Louis Vasquez top priority
The Chargers have identified free agent LG Louis Vasquez as their "top priority" to re-sign and will make him a contract offer "shortly."
The Chargers arrived in Indianapolis on Wednesday, and on Thursday night met with Vasquez's player rep. Vasquez is believed to be seeking $6 million annually. Turning 26 in April, Vasquez would be a hot commodity if he hit the open market.

Sun Feb 10 201317:37Louis Vasquez to command $6M annually
Free agent OG Louis Vasquez is expected to command $6 million annually.
The Chargers recently reached out to Vasquez, but contract negotiations are not yet believed to be underway. Vasquez will be just 26 when the 2013 season starts, and he's near the top of a thin free-agent offensive guard class. Andy Levitre will be the most highly coveted guard. Vasquez won't be too far behind.

Thu Feb 7 201312:21NFL scouts high on Louis Vasquez
Pro scouts around the NFL reportedly "love" free agent RG Louis Vasquez.
ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson considered 25-year-old Vasquez the Chargers' "best offensive lineman" in 2012, and Pro Football Focus graded him as a top-13 overall guard. Vasquez, at 6'5/335, is a particularly effective pass blocker. He could be viewed by clubs as better fit for left guard on the open market.

Fri Jun 22 201209:36Louis Vasquez has 'outstanding' offseason
Coach Norv Turner said that RG Louis Vasquez has had an "outstanding" offseason.
One year after injuries decimated the Chargers' offensive line, things are starting to look up. Jared Gaither and Tyronne Green have been gelling on the left side while Vasquez's improvement is key to the right side. If this unit can play at an average level, Philip Rivers gets a boost.

Fri Nov 18 201113:06Chargers O-Line a mess for Week 11
Chargers RG Louis Vasquez (ankle) is expected to miss this week's game against the Bears.
The entire left side of the Bolts O-Line is also out, leaving overwhelmed backup Brandyn Dombrowski at left tackle, backup center Scott Mruczkowski at left guard, and street free agent Tony Moll (or rookie Stephen Schilling) at right guard. Philip Rivers is going to be throwing from a muddy pocket against the Bears on Sunday.

Thu Nov 10 201122:16Chargers RG Vasquez exits with injury
Chargers RG Louis Vasquez was forced from Thursday's game in the third quarter with an ankle injury.
Vasquez took awhile to get to his feet, but did manage to hobble on his own power. The Chargers offensive line is getting manhandled with LT Marcus McNeill and LG Kris Dielman out, so Vasquez will try to tape the ankle and get back in the game.

Mon Nov 22 201022:45Vasquez's night ends early with stinger
