Thu Feb 20 201415:29FA Panthers LT Gross still mulling retirement
GM Dave Gettleman is "still unsure" if free agent LT Jordan Gross will re-sign with the Panthers or retire.
Gettleman says he's had "two conversations" with the man who's been the Panthers' left tackle since 2003. A third conversation would likely involve sweetening the team's offer. Going on 34 with 167 punishing NFL appearances to his name, Gross is clearly only interested in returning if the price is right. Gross was the No. 3 tackle in Pro Football Focus' 2013 ratings, and has missed only one game since 2009. His retirement would leave the Panthers in a lurch. It would be terrible timing for a team that already has pressing needs on defense and at receiver.

Wed Jan 22 201412:16Gross to be back w/ CAR on 1- or 2-year deal?
The Charlotte Observer says it's "very possible" free agent LT Jordan Gross returns to the Panthers on a one- or two-year deal.
The 33-year-old Gross said he is either going to retire or re-sign with the Panthers. Given his continued high level of play and no in-house replacement on the roster, we'd expect the two sides to reach a deal. GM Dave Gettleman will be looking for Gross' eventual replacement in the draft.

Mon Jan 13 201411:38Jordan Gross hasn't decided on 2014 status
Impending free agent LT Jordan Gross said he hasn't decided if he will retire yet.
The 33-year-old Gross reiterated that if he plays in 2014, it will only be for the Panthers. He did say that he still thinks he can play, and the stats bore that out as he was Pro Football Focus' No. 3 tackle this season while dominating in pass protection. He's also sustained durability, starting 63-of-64 games over the last four seasons. The Panthers should coax Gross back with a nice payday on a one-year deal.

Thu Aug 1 201314:53Gross will only play for Panthers in 2014
Panthers LT Jordan Gross has yet to decide if this season will be his last, but did say that he will only play for Carolina in 2014.
Gross, 33, restructured his contract in March, essentially voiding the final three years of his deal. He'll be a free agent on the fifth day of the 2014 league year. "A year later is another year less appealing to go somewhere else," Gross said. "I'm not worried about the team having leverage on me if I say I'm only playing here. I'm only going to play here." He was Pro Football Focus' No. 14 left tackle last season, and he's entering his 11th year with Carolina.

Panthers LT Jordan Gross has restructured his contract.
Gross was scheduled to make $8.7M this season, an untenable number for the cap-strapped Panthers. He'll now earn $5.5M, and will be able to void his 2014 contract on Feb. 7 of next year. Gross, now entering his age-33 season, was ProFootballFocus' No. 14 left tackle last season.

Sat Mar 9 201321:24Panthers ask Gross to restructure contract
The Panthers have asked LT Jordan Gross to restructure his contract.
The report indicates Carolina wants Gross to take a pay cut, as opposed to converting salary into a bonus. Gross' 2013 cap number is $11.7 million, and the Panthers are currently $4 million under the cap. "The Panthers and I are trying to work out the best solution to help this team move forward," Gross said Saturday.

Thu Feb 28 201319:18Panthers LT Gross has ankle cleaned out
Panthers LT Jordan Gross recently underwent surgery to have bone spurs removed from his ankle.
Coach Ron Rivera called it a successful clean-out. Gross started all 16 games in 2012, and he's missed just one game over the last three seasons. Pro Football Focus graded him out as a top-20 tackle in 2012. Gross should be ready for training camp.

Sun Feb 10 201310:04Panthers to approach Gross about restructure
The Charlotte Observer suggests the Panthers could approach LT Jordan Gross about restructuring his contract.
Gross has two years left on a six-year deal, and he's currently due an $8.7 million base salary in 2013. Carolina is over the salary cap at the moment, and they could clear $6.7 million by cutting Gross. That doesn't appear to be an option, though, as he's a key cog on an already-weak offensive line. The Panthers could look to extend the 32-year-old.

Thu Aug 12 201020:44Gross looks ugly in preseason opener
Jordan Gross racked up two holding penalties and one false start penalty in the first quarter of Thursday's preseason opener.
The penalties came going up against Ravens' Antwan Barnes. Gross is living up to his last name early on, but this just looks like a case of shaking off the rust.

Tue May 25 201011:44Jordan Gross resumes practicing
Panthers LT Jordan Gross (broken tibia) has begun practicing at OTAs.
Gross' injury occurred in Week 10 last season, so he's had plenty of time to recover. The 30-year-old was credited with six sacks allowed in ten 2009 starts. He'll need to be more effective for Carolina's passing game to improve.

Sat May 1 201015:41Gross expects to be ready for training camp
Panthers LT Jordan Gross (broken tibia) fully expects to be ready for training camp.
Gross is doing some running on the side, but he's unlikely to practice until later this summer. RT Jeff Otah (meniscus) should also be fully healthy for training camp, so the Panthers offenisve line will be at full capacity in 2010.
