Mon Apr 7 201412:47Free agent S Yeremiah Bell likely to retire
Free agent S Yeremiah Bell is reportedly likely to retire.
Bell started all 16 games for the Cardinals last season, playing just about every snap and handling himself reasonably well as part of the league's No. 6 defense. But at age 36, it sounds like he wants to go out on a high note. The Cardinals need to add depth to the safety spot with Tyrann Mathieu coming off a torn ACL.

Sun May 5 201311:56Yeremiah Bell, Johnson projected to start
The Arizona Republic projects Yeremiah Bell and Rashad Johnson as the Cardinals' starters at safety.
Bell will presumably play free safety with Johnson at strong. Despite the fact that Arizona drafted Tyrann Mathieu early in the third round, they'll ease him in on special teams and as a potential slot cornerback in nickel packages. If Johnson keeps the strong safety job, he'll be the IDP to target in the group.

Wed Mar 13 201317:52Cardinals ink Bell as Rhodes' replacement
Cardinals agreed to terms with S Yeremiah Bell, formerly of the Jets.
Bell, 35, replaces recently released Kerry Rhodes. It's likely a one-year deal for Bell, who registered 89 tackles and two pass breakups with New York last season. Cardinals DC Todd Bowles was Bell's position coach in Miami from 2008-11. We suspect Bell will be Arizona's free safety with Rashad Johnson at strong.

Thu Jun 14 201221:43Jets to use three-man safety rotation
Jets secondary coach Dennis Thurman expects an athletic three-man platoon at safety with Yeremiah Bell, LaRon Landry, and Eric Smith.
Bell and Landry are expected to play stong- and free-hybrids since the Jets defense has no difference between the two positions. The rotation could end up working, as Landry (Achilles) is a major injury risk while Bell and Smith are stretched as full-time starters.

Sat May 19 201214:43Report: Yeremiah Bell signed to be a starter
ESPN New York reports the Jets signed S Yeremiah Bell to start.
Beat writer Rich Cimini expects the Jets to enter Week 1 with a starting safety tandem of Bell and LaRon Landry. We expect Landry to man free safety with Bell slotting in at strong. That presumes Landry (Achilles) will make it onto the field, of course. Eric Smith will be first in line if/when Bell or Landry falter.

Fri May 18 201212:28Safety Yeremiah Bell chooses Jets over Eagles
Jets signed free agent S Yeremiah Bell to a one-year, $1.4 million contract.
It's a mild upset after Bell's agent spent the day with the Eagles on Thursday. Now 34 years old with coverage skills that slipped significantly of late, Bell will have to compete for a starting job. Free safety Eric Smith was a fan and media whipping boy last season, though, so Bell's chances are better than they would be with another team.

Fri May 18 201208:29Free agent S Bell to choose Eagles or Jets
Free agent S Yeremiah Bell is expected to sign with the Eagles or Jets by the end of the day Friday.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus, who said he was on his way to visit a "mystery team," spent Thursday in Philadelphia finalizing LeSean McCoy's contract. That would seem to put the Eagles in the driver's seat for Bell's services.

Thu May 17 201211:39Yeremiah Bell plans to sign in 24 hours
The player rep for free agent S Yeremiah Bell says his client will sign with a team within 24 hours.
Bell has flirted with the Eagles, Chiefs, Titans, and Jets. The 34-year-old's likeliest landing spots at this point appear to be Kansas City and Tennessee.

Tue May 15 201212:16Yeremiah Bell visiting Chiefs Wednesday
Free agent S Yeremiah Bell will visit the Chiefs Wednesday.
Bell is visiting the Titans on Tuesday, so it's possible he'll never make it to Kansas City. Two months removed from his 34th birthday and coming off his worst season, Bell will be a depth signing wherever he ends up.

Tue May 15 201211:10Eagles think FA Yeremiah Bell is 'done'
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles didn't sign free agent S Yeremiah Bell because they "think he's done."
The Eagles were one of the teams who kicked the tires on Bell following his release from the Dolphins. Bell isn't known to have visited the Eagles, but visited the Jets in April and the Titans on Tuesday. Wherever he ends up, it sounds like he'll have a tough time locking down a roster spot in camp.

Mon May 14 201219:13Safeties Bell, Crocker to visit Titans
Free agent safeties Yeremiah Bell and Chris Crocker are scheduled to visit the Titans on Tuesday.
Bell has already been connected to several teams, including the Jets, Eagles and Patriots, but has yet to latch on. The 32-year-old Crocker has visited the Lions and Cardinals since being cut by the Bengals in early April. The Titans are looking for depth behind starters Jordan Babineaux and Michael Griffin.

Mon Apr 23 201208:18Yeremiah Bell visiting Jets Monday
Free agent SS Yeremiah Bell will visit the Jets on Monday.
It's Bell's first known visit since he was released by the Dolphins on March 19. Bell has also reportedly drawn interest from the Patriots and Eagles. He'd be no higher than fourth on the depth chart at corner for the Jets, so it's possible they're looking at him as a safety.

Mon Apr 9 201208:26Jets reportedly join mix for S Yeremiah Bell
Free agent SS Yeremiah Bell is drawing interest from the Jets in addition to the Eagles and Patriots.
According to agent Drew Rosenhaus, Bell will not be re-signing with the Dolphins. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported four days ago Miami hadn't ruled out bringing him back. One month removed from his 34th birthday and a liability in coverage, Bell won't land a starting job.

Thu Apr 5 201217:51Yeremiah Bell drawing interest from Pats
In addition to the Eagles, free agent SS Yeremiah Bell is reportedly drawing interest from the Patriots.
The Dolphins have also not ruled out bringing back Bell, though that's less likely after Thursday's Tyrell Johnson signing. At 34, Bell's coverage skills have slipped to the point that he's going to have to compete for a job no matter where he lands.

Thu Mar 29 201213:23Eagles show interest in Yeremiah Bell
The Miami Herald reports that free agent SS Yeremiah Bell has drawn interest from the Eagles since his March 19 release.
The extent of Philly's interest is unclear, but Bell could push 2011 second-round pick Jaiquawn Jarrett after a rough rookie season. Bell is 34 years old, so he'd at best be a short-term fix. He's a "box" safety only at this point.

Mon Mar 19 201219:22Dolphins release longtime SS Yeremiah Bell
Dolphins released SS Yeremiah Bell.
Bell was a starter in Miami for the past six years. Though still an effective run-stopping, in-the-box safety, Bell's cover skills have diminished at age 34. His release clears $4.3 million in base salary off the books, and saves over $4 million under the cap. Bell may get a look in Atlanta from former defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, perhaps as veteran competition for William Moore. The Dolphins could consider playing Richard Marshall at free safety and Reshad Jones at strong safety, although this is a position they'll almost certainly address in April's draft.

Thu Jan 26 201215:53Yeremiah Bell could be cap casualty
Dolphins SS Yeremiah Bell is a candidate to be released this offseason.
Miami's leading tackler every season since 2008, Bell's $4.3 million salary counts for $6.2 million against the salary cap in 2012. Only Jake Long, Brandon Marshall, and Karlos Dansby have higher cap numbers. Bell will likely be asked to restructure in the final year of his four-year, $20 million contract.

Sun Sep 19 201018:53Yeremiah Bell leads Dolphins with 9 tackles
SS Yeremiah Bell registered nine solo tackles and three assists in Miami's Week 2 victory over the Vikings.
Bell led Miami in tackles for the second straight week. He played the run for much of the afternoon, tackling Adrian Peterson six times. The Dolphins have been banged up on the defensive side early in the season, but Bell has helped pick up the slack, especially on Sunday against a powerful Minnesota offense. He has become a legit IDP asset thus far in 2010.
