Urbik has been moved to starter at right guard in place of a struggling Cyril Richardson. Urbik received 100 percent of the snaps in the Bills' Week 8 win over the Jets.
Coach Doug Marrone has a trio of huge rookie linemen he's been trying to make as part of the long-term plan, but Richardson was starting to get overwhelmed. Not that the veteran Urbik was an immediate answer - as badly as the Bills destroyed the Jets, they had troubles with the run game again. That said, the team won and Kyle Orton was for the most part pretty well protected, so we doubt Urbik will be coming out of the starting lineup any time soon.
Wed Jul 23 201414:05Marrone confirms RG job is a competition
Coach Doug Marrone confirmed the Bills' starting right guard job is up for grabs.
Kraig Urbik is the incumbent, while Chris Hairston is his main competition. Hairston can play any position on the line besides center and is returning after missing all of last season with an undisclosed illness. Urbik is scheduled to count $3.375 million against the cap. He graded out as a top-20 guard at PFF in 2013, receiving positive marks both in the run and pass games. If LT Cordy Glenn is sidelined into the season, Hairston is more likely to fill in there.

Fri Jul 11 201411:15Bills expected to keep RG Kraig Urbik
The Bills aren't expected to release RG Kraig Urbik.
Urbik is being pushed by Chris Hairston for the starting job, but his roster spot appears safe because of money. Urbik inked a four-year, $15 million extension in December of 2012 and is set to count over $3 million against the cap. The Bills would have to eat $2.1 million of that by cutting him. Urbik and RT Erik Pears were a weak pair on the right side of Buffalo's line last season. Pears' job is in grave danger. Unlike Urbik, he can be released without a dead money hit.

Tue Dec 18 201201:12Bills, RG Urbik agree to four-year extension
Bills signed RG Kraig Urbik to a four-year, $15 million contract extension.
Urbik was set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, but Buffalo locked up their versatile 27-year-old right guard after he posted back-to-back solid seasons. Urbik has started 24 games over the last two years and grades out as one of Pro Football Focus' top-25 guards for 2012 heading into Week 16. Andy Levitre, Buffalo's left guard, is also eligible for unrestricted free agency after the season.

Sat Nov 10 201219:05Urbik (foot) questionable, expected to play
Bills RG Kraig Urbik (foot) is listed as questionable on the Week 10 injury report.
Urbik practiced on a limited basis this week and is expected to be active for Sunday's game against the Patriots. He missed three games earlier this season due to injury. With Erik Pears (hip, injured reserve) out for the year, Chris Hairston will make his second straight start at right tackle.

Mon Oct 29 201216:04Kraig Urbik to return to lineup in Week 9
Bills RG Kraig Urbik is expected to return from his ankle injury in Week 9.
Shelved since Week 4, Urbik used the Week 8 bye to nurse himself back to full health. His return should provide a boost for the Bills' running game.

Wed Oct 10 201217:36Bills O-line thin with three missing practice
Bills RG Kraig Urbik, LT Cordy Glenn, and RG Chad Rinehart did not participate in Wednesday's practice.
The Bills offensive line has been just ravaged with injuries this season. They're now extremely thin at right guard with Urbik's replacement Colin Brown on I.R., and Rinehart also dealing with a calf injury. The Bills did sign veteran G/T Reggie Wells, who has not played an offensive snap since Week 17 of 2010. The situation is a concern for Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller owners.

Tue Oct 2 201215:17Bills RG Urbik has high-ankle sprain
Bills RG Kraig Urbik has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain.
Coach Chan Gailey expects both Urbik and LT Cordy Glenn (ankle) to miss this week's game against the 49ers' crushing front seven. Urbik is wearing a protective boot and will likely sit out Week 6 at Arizona as well.

Sun Sep 30 201223:50Gailey: Urbik, Glenn will be out 'awhile'
Bills coach Chan Gailey expects RG Kraig Urbik and LT Cordy Glenn to both be out "awhile" after suffering ankle injuries in Week 4.
Buffalo has experienced and largely capable replacements in Chad Rinehart and Chris Hairston, although they now are starved for depth and might not be able to withstand another O-Line injury. Glenn, in particular, had been playing extremely well as a rookie on Ryan Fitzpatrick's blind side. The losses won't make life easy in the Bills' defense in Week 5 against the 49ers.

Mon Apr 23 201215:41Bills re-sign Kraig Urbik
Bills re-signed restricted free agent G/C Kraig Urbik to a one-year, $1.26 million contract.
Urbik, 26, made 13 starts last season, opening the year at right guard before kicking inside to replace injured C Eric Wood. Pro Football Focus graded Urbik as a terrific interior pass blocker, but he'll have to improve immensely as a run blocker in order to keep his job. Urbik is more of a swingman type.

Sun Jan 29 201209:30Bills expected to tender Urbik, Rinehart
BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown expects the Bills to tender qualifying offers to restricted free agents Kraig Urbik and Chad Rinehart.
Urbik earned the starting job at right guard this year after initially being picked up off waivers from the Steelers last season. Rinehart make 12 starts filling in as a ''swingman'' and is capable of starting on the interior.

Sun Dec 25 201108:39Bils rule out RG Kraig Urbik for Week 17
Bills RG Kraig Urbik (knee) has been ruled out for Week 17 against the Patriots.
Urbik's injury is considered "not good," according to head coach Chan Gailey, and the plan is to move forward with Colin Brown to finish the season. Demetrius Bell and TE Mike Caussin also suffered knee injuries and are not expected to play in next week's game. Rookie Chris Hairston is in line for his seventh start at left tackle in place of Bell.

Sun Sep 18 201122:49Bills RG Kraig Urbik out for 'a few weeks'
Bills coach Chan Gailey expects RG Kraig Urbik to miss "a few weeks" after injuring his knee in Week 2.
It sounds like a sprained MCL. Chad Rinehart stepped in for Urbik against the Raiders, and presented no obvious drop-off. The Bills have done an impressive job of keeping Ryan Fitzpatrick upright so far despite their weak O-Line talent.

Sun Aug 21 201112:11Urbik, Bills line gets dismantled
According to WGR 550 Buffalo's Joe Buscaglia, Bills RG Kraig Urbik is "auditioning for the new show 'Worst Starting Offensive Lineman in the NFL.'"
The Bills' offensive line got thoroughly dismantled by the Broncos on Saturday evening, with LT Demetrius Bell and LG Andy Levitre joining Urbik in getting abused. Levitre appears to have lost his job to Chad Rinehart, but Bell and Urbik are both starters for the time being.

Thu Aug 4 201108:28Urbik in lead for RG spot
Kraig Urbik is battling Mansfield Wrotto and Chad Rinehart for the right guard gig.
Urbik was able to gain starting experience last year as Eric Wood struggled with injuries. He can play both center also, but his best chance for playing time now comes at guard. Urbik is considered the favorite right now.

Tue Dec 7 201016:35Bills place OL Kraig Urbik on I.R.
Bills placed RG Kraig Urbik (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
A third-round disappointment in Pittsburgh, Urbik had been forced into the lineup as a fill-in for Eric Wood. With center Geoff Hangartner out, the Bills hope Wood can man center in Week 14 with Andy Levitre kicking back out to guard along with rookie Ed Wang. The injuries up front brought the offense to a halt last week.
Mon Dec 6 201010:48Urbik likely done for year
Bills backup C Kraig Urbik is likely done for the season after suffering ligament damage in his right knee.
With starter Geoff Hangartner (knee) also likely done for the year, the Bills' offensive line is in shambles. It's going to be an uphill climb down the stretch for Fred Jackson and the entire offense.

Sun Dec 5 201015:42Kraig Urbik leaves with right knee injury
Bills RG Kraig Urbik left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with a right leg or knee injury.
It could be anything from a torn knee ligament to a broken leg. Either way, we're almost certain that Urbik's season is over. He could put no weight on the leg, and was carted off the field. The Bills have lost two offensive linemen in the game, forcing LG Andy Levitre to center. It's no surprise, then, that they lost the center-snap exchange at the Vikings' goal-line on the same drive Urbik went down. The Vikings are dominating.
Fri Nov 26 201015:17Kraig Urbik to start in place of Wood
Kraig Urbik will be the Bills' starting right guard in Week 12, replacing Eric Wood (knee).
Urbik will start against Pittsburgh, who waived him on the final day of roster cuts this September, just one year after drafting him in the third round. The Steelers clearly didn't think much of him, and figure to attack Urbik on game day. We'd have a hard time starting Fred Jackson this week.

Sun Sep 5 201016:54Bills claim OL Urbik
Bills claimed OG Kraig Urbik off waivers from the Steelers.
Urbik, the 79th overall pick in the 2009 draft, was slow to pick up blocking schemes in Pittsburgh, but fits Buffalo's system based on power potential. The Bills are currently light on the interior, especially at left guard.
