Sun Sep 20 201514:43Monroe (concussion) inactive Sunday against Raiders
Monroe (concussion) is inactive Sunday against the Raiders.
Monroe, the Ravens' starting left tackle, won't be able to protect Joe Flacco's blind side. Also, his absence will produce a slight downgrade to the running game.
Fri Oct 17 201415:45Monroe doubtful for Sunday's game against Falcons
Monroe is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Jason Butt of the National Football Post reports.
This would be the fourth straight game missed for Monroe, as undrafted rookie James Hurst is once again tasked with keeping Joe Flacco off the ground. With Monroe's partner on the left side, guard Kelechi Osemele, also doubtful, you'd think pass protection could be an issue for the Ravens. However, the Ravens were missing that left side last week against the Buccaneers and didn't give up a single quarterback hit.
Thu Oct 16 201415:57Eugene Monroe: (Knee) Returns To Practice
Monroe (knee) returned to practice Thursday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Monroe missed the last three games after having a minor surgical procedure, but he may stand a chance to return for Sunday's contest against the Falcons. Backup left tackle James Hurst struggled the past two games, after a strong showing in his first career start. With starting left guard Kelechi Osemele (knee) also hoping to return this week, the Ravens may have all five starters on an offensive line that's been among the league's best this season.
Thu Sep 25 201417:12Eugene Monroe: Will Miss Multiple Weeks To Have Knee Surgery
Monroe will miss multiple weeks after having a minor surgical procedure on his knee Wednesday, The Ravens' official website reports.
This is a huge loss for a Baltimore offensive line that has looked fantastic through three games. Monroe, who signed a five-year, $37.5 million deal in the offseason, will likely be replaced as the starting left tackle by undrafted rookie James Hurst. The likely drop-off at such a significant position is bad news for Joe Flacco owners.
Tue Mar 11 201417:00Ravens retain LT Eugene Monroe at discount
Ravens re-signed LT Eugene Monroe to a five-year, $37.5 million deal.
The deal includes $19 million guaranteed. It's less than Branden Albert got from the Dolphins (five years, $46M with $25M guaranteed) and Rodger Saffold landed with the Raiders (five years, $42.5M with $21M guaranteed). In other words, GM Ozzie Newsome has done it again. Monroe was our No. 3 free agent available at any position, behind only Jimmy Graham and Greg Hardy -- who were franchise tagged. Monroe has been a top-10 tackle in Pro Football Focus' rankings in three straight years.

Tue Mar 11 201408:39Report: Ravens, LT Monroe very close to deal
NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reports the "buzz from inside Ravens headquarters" is that the team and free agent LT Eugene Monroe are "very close" to a new deal.
With the offensive tackle market taking shape -- Branden Albert headed to Miami, Rodger Saffold to Oakland, Jared Veldheer to Arizona, and Anthony Collins to Tampa -- the Ravens realize they need to pony up the cash for Monroe if they want to keep him. Talks between the two sides have heated up the past two days. If Monroe signs before 4 PM, Michael Oher will be the top tackle available.

Sun Mar 9 201420:01Ravens, Monroe hopeful for deal
The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens have maintained "active dialogue" with free agent LT Eugene Monroe, and "there's now optimism" Baltimore will retain him.
There is "increased hope from both sides" that a deal will be consummated, per Ravens beat reporter Aaron Wilson. With Arizona zeroing in on Jared Veldheer and Miami essentially having already locked up Branden Albert, Monroe seems destined to stay in Baltimore. There is now belief the Bucs will sign Rodger Saffold or Anthony Collins. The Raiders are in serious talks with Saffold.

Fri Mar 7 201413:41Report: Eugene Monroe seeking $10M per year
The Carroll County Times reports free agent LT Eugene Monroe is seeking $10 million per year.
Per beat writer Matt Zenitz, the Ravens are offering Monroe $8 million to $9 million per year. So there's a decent-sized gap to be bridged before next Tuesday's start of free agency. GM Ozzie Newsome surrendered 2014 fourth- and fifth-round picks when he acquired Monroe via Jacksonville last October. If Monroe hits the market, the Dolphins are expected to pursue him aggressively.

Tue Mar 4 201423:08Monroe Dolphin's first choice free agent LT
The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero believes free agent Eugene Monroe will the Dolphins first choice left tackle if he reaches free agency.
Left tackle will the priority for a Dolphins team that will need to fill perhaps three holes along the offensive line this offseason. Monroe is the number one target, but Branden Albert and Anthony Collins are also on Miami's radar. All three still could be re-signed by the current teams before free agency begins, however, which would force the Dolphins to move to other targets. No matter what, Miami's offensive line should be their number one concern this offseason.

Mon Mar 3 201416:16Eugene Monroe free to hit open market
The Ravens didn't use the franchise tag on free agent LT Eugene Monroe by Monday afternoon's deadline.
It means Monroe is now free to hit a market that could also include Jared Veldheer and Branden Albert. Although there's more high-end tackle talent available than usual, there's also more league-wide cap space, as well as plenty of teams who need to upgrade on the blindside. All three players are in commanding negotiating positions. Monroe is Rotoworld's No. 1 ranked free-agent tackle.

Sat Mar 1 201416:11Ravens not expected to franchise LT Monroe
The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens are not expected to franchise tag free agent LT Eugene Monroe.
Monroe is Baltimore's highest remaining priority with Dennis Pitta signed, but would cost $11.65 million if tagged and isn't a candidate to be franchised. The Ravens have been in active talks with Monroe, but no deal is imminent. Monroe, 26, is expected to command more guaranteed money than Pitta and isn't open to giving the Ravens a hometown discount. Rotoworld ranks Monroe as the top left tackle available this offseason.

Thu Feb 27 201415:23Ravens in 'active talks' with Monroe, Pitta
The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens are engaged in "active talks" with free agents Eugene Monroe and Dennis Pitta, but that no deals are imminent.
According to reporter Aaron Wilson, the Ravens have "work to do on both to get something done." Whether it's via a new deal or the franchise tag, Pitta is fully expected to remain in Baltimore. It's Monroe's status that's hazy. The Ravens freed up $4.95 million in cap space by releasing Jameel McClain and Vonta Leach on Thursday. Monroe, who turns 27 in April, has said he isn't interested in giving the Ravens a hometown discount. The Dolphins would reportedly be interested if he hits the open market.

Tue Feb 25 201422:17Report: Dolphins 'very much like' LT Monroe
The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins "very much like" free agent LT Eugene Monroe, and plan to pursue him if he reaches the open market.
According to sources "briefed on the team's thinking," the Dolphins would be happy with either Monroe or fellow free agent LT Branden Albert. It's an indication new GM Dennis Hickey plans to be far-more aggressive about upgrading Miami's pitiful offensive line than Jeff Ireland was. Ireland's 2013 line was a wing-and-a-prayer that turned into a waking nightmare. Albert is expected to reach free agency, but Monroe's odds of hitting the open market are murkier.

Tue Feb 18 201415:16Eugene Monroe won't give Ravens discount
Free agent LT Eugene Monroe said he's not open to giving the Ravens any sort of hometown discount.
"You have to get the absolute best because you put forth your best effort all the time, every single day in this league," Monroe said. "So there are definitely no discounts, and you have to have you and your family's best interests at heart in terms of negotiating these deals." Monroe, 27 in April, is in the prime of his career and will be shooting for a big payday coming off his rookie deal. Monroe has proven durable and should find at or above $10 million annually.

Mon Feb 17 201420:02Free agent LT Monroe remains priority for BAL
The Baltimore Sun reports free agent LT Eugene Monroe remains a priority for the Ravens.
The two sides have had "preliminary talks," and the Ravens view Monroe as a long-term solution on Joe Flacco's blind side. Baltimore dealt two draft picks to Jacksonville for Monroe ahead of last season's trade deadline. The franchise tag isn't believed to be an option for Monroe. He's our No. 1 free-agent offensive tackle.

Sun Dec 22 201310:10Ravens hope to extend Eugene Monroe
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Ravens intend to sign LT Eugene Monroe to a contract extension before he hits free agency.
Ravens RT Michael Oher is also in a contract year, and his future in Baltimore is "very much in doubt," per La Canfora. The Ravens have been pleased with what Monroe has brought on and off the field since acquiring him from Jacksonville prior to October's trade deadline. Baltimore is 5-2 since making the move.

Sat Oct 12 201309:43Monroe expected to start at LT for Ravens
Eugene Monroe is expected to start at left tackle for the Ravens on Sunday against the Packers.
Monroe was acquired from the Jaguars 11 days ago and was inactive for Week 5 as he tried to get up to speed. "Unless something changes, he'll be the starter at left tackle," coach John Harbaugh confirmed. Monroe will replace Bryant McKinnie. He catches a break by not having to face Clay Matthews (thumb).
