Thu Jul 3 201417:48Greer unsure if he will play in NFL again
Free agent CB Jabari Greer is not actively searching for an NFL team and does not know if he will ever return to the field.
"I think right now today, I'm very content with where I am," Greer said. "But in the future, I'm sure that itch is gonna come, because it does for everybody. I guess it just depends if I decide to scratch it or not." Greer tore his ACL, PCL, and total posterior lateral compartment last November. It is the kind of injury that can be a career-ender for a 32-year-old cornerback. Greer was cut by the Saints in February.

Fri Apr 11 201420:01Saints not ruling out bringing back CB Greer
NFL.com's Albert Breer's "feeling" is the Saints haven't ruled out bringing back free agent CB Jabari Greer.
Greer hasn't drawn any known interest since being released and is coming off November ACL surgery. He held his own in Rob Ryan's defense last year and could be insurance behind No. 2 corner Champ Bailey. Greer hasn't played a full season since 2011 and is questionable to be ready for the start of training camp.

Wed Feb 12 201417:56Saints cleaning house, also release CB Greer
Saints released CB Jabari Greer.
Greer joins DE Will Smith and SS Roman Harper as long-time Saints who were given their pink slips Wednesday. New Orleans cleared nearly $17 million in cap space with the three terminations. Greer could have a case to recoup some of his money because he's recovering from ACL surgery, but that will be handled at a letter time. The 32-year-old has played a full 16-game season just once in the past six years. Greer will struggle to find multi-year offers in free agency.

Fri Feb 7 201420:25Saints CB Greer could restructure contract
Saints CB Jabari Greer is a candidate to restructure his contract this offseason.
Greer is coming off ACL surgery and set to make $4.4 million in 2014. With the Saints facing cap issues, he could be asked to take a pay cut or restructure his deal. Greer is currently signed through the 2015 season, but neither of his remaining base salaries are guaranteed.

Fri Jan 24 201409:24Saints CB Jabari Greer could be released
The New Orleans Times-Picayune wonders if Saints CB Jabari Greer has a future with the team.
Greer, 32 next month, tore his left ACL in November and is due a non-guaranteed $4.4 million in salary and bonuses next season. The Saints have salary-cap issues on the horizon and need to clear room to get Jimmy Graham under contract. Greer was playing pretty well before going down with the injury.

Tue Nov 19 201316:06Saints send starting CB Jabari Greer to I.R.
Saints placed LCB Jabari Greer on injured reserve with a torn left ACL, ending his season.
Greer's injury had the looks of a season-ender from the start. Greer was not playing at a particularly high level before going down, but had been holding his own for the Saints' much-improved defense. In the second season of a four-year, $21.1 million contract, Greer has no guaranteed money remaining beyond 2013. Going on 32, he's due $4.4 million between salary and bonuses in 2014. He may have to be amenable to a pay-cut to keep his roster spot. Second-year pro Corey White will take Greer's place opposite Keenan Lewis.

Corey White is now in the game. Greer skied to defend a Colin Kaepernick pass in the first quarter, but landed awkwardly. He stayed down in a heap before being carted to the locker room. It had the looks of a season-ending injury. Greer's status will be updated no later than Monday afternoon.

The Saints are dealing with multiple injuries to their secondary, with Patrick Robinson (foot) and SS Roman Harper (knee) also listed as questionable. Martez Wilson (probable, elbow) was held out of the season opener, but will resume a starting role over OLB Parys Haralson.

Greer is unlikely to get cleared in time for Sunday's meaningless finale against the Panthers. Rebounding from offseason sports hernia surgery, he'll finish with 51 tackles and three interceptions in 14 games. Greer will return as the Saints' starting left corner in 2013.

Mon Oct 8 201212:43Jabari Greer's injury 'looks good'
Interim Saints coach Aaron Kromer says LCB Jabari Greer's hip/groin injury "looks good."
It sounds like Greer will be ready to roll following the Saints' Week 6 bye. Greer is having a poor season, but it would be bad news for the Saints' embattled defense were he to miss any more time.

Sun Oct 7 201222:22Jabari Greer leaves SNF with groin injury
Saints LCB Jabari Greer was forced from Sunday night's game against the Chargers with a groin/hip injury, and will not return.
Greer left the game early in the first half, and was formally ruled out in the third quarter. It's most unwelcome news after Greer missed Week 1 with a groin ailment. New Orleans' secondary was struggling both before and after Greer's departure. Corey White has taken Greer's spot in the base defense, with Johnny Patrick seeing snaps in the slot.

Sun Sep 9 201218:52Jabari Greer was scratched for Week 1
Saints LCB Jabari Greer was scratched for Week 1 due to a groin injury.
Greer's absence was a bit of a surprise because he practiced all week, albeit in a limited manner. If the Saints felt they could give Greer a week of rest and still take down the Redskins, they were mistaken. Greer's status for Week 2 against the Panthers is uncertain. The Saints need their top corner back.

Saints LCB Jabari Greer (hernia surgery) is "progressing real well."
"I'm feeling good, I'm ready to get back," Greer said Monday. "...I'm starting to get some movement back and I feel real good." The New Orleans Times-Picayune doesn't expect Greer to suit up in the preseason, but believes he'll be 100 percent for Week 1. Greer started all 16 games for the Saints in 2011, making 71 tackles and one interception.

Sun Apr 22 201213:31Jabari Greer gets just $15.6M in new money
Profootballtalk.com reports that Saints LCB Jabari Greer's three-year extension is worth just $15.6 million.
Added that sum to the $5.4 million remaining on Greer's old deal, and he essentially has a four-year, $21 million contract after signing for $22 million over four years in 2009. It looks like a very strong deal on the Saints' side, though no particulars are known beyond "new money" and maximum values. Regardless, initial reports of a three-year, $23 million extension were way off and agent inflated. The extension portion is worth under $16M.

Profootballtalk.com reports Saints LCB Jabari Greer's new deal does not kick in until 2013, and includes $15.6 million in new money.
Greer will earn his originally scheduled $5.4 million in 2012, and can earn a maximum of $23 million over the next four seasons. Two months removed from his 30th birthday, the odds are high Greer will be asked to restructure or take a pay-cut before his deal is through.

Thu Jan 27 201115:56Greer played through painful shoulder injury
Saints DC Gregg Williams revealed that LCB Jabari Greer's second-half shoulder injury was so painful that Greer "could barely lift his arm above his head."
The shoulder injury and a late-season knee injury help to explain why Greer's play fell off at times from mid-October through the end of the season. Turning 29 in two weeks, Greer should be back to full strength for the 2011 season.
