Jones (hamstring) is considered questionable to play in Sunday's game against the Jaguars, the Palm Beach Post reports.
Jones sustained a hamstring injury toward the end of last week's win against the Redskins, which only allowed him to participate in limited fashion during practice on both Thursday and Friday. As a result, it's unclear whether Jones will be cleared in time for Sunday's Week 2 contest, making his status worthwhile to monitor.

Jones wasn't all that impressive and the Dolphins will look for an upgrade either during the draft or free agency.
Wed Oct 1 201413:28Jones (suspension) participated in practice Tuesday
Jones (suspension) participated in practice Tuesday, the Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
With the Dolphins on bye this week, Jones has an opportunity to get up to speed at practice in advance of Week 6's contest against the Packers, at which time he's likely to start at safety opposite Louis Delmas, with Jimmy Wilson likely work as the team's nickel cornerback.
Tue Sep 16 201421:59Despite NFL's revision of its drug policy Tuesday night
Despite the NFL's revision of its drug policy Tuesday night, Jones will not be among the players immediately reinstated from his four-game suspension, Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post reports.
Since the exact parameters of the new policy have not been formally announced, it's not yet known why Jones (nor teammate Dion Jordan) are eligible for immediate reinstatement, unlike other players around the league. With Jones out until the Week 6 tilt with the Packers, the Dolphins will continue to trot out Jimmy Wilson as their starting free safety.

Jones has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substance, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.
Jones is the second Dolphins' player suspended so far this offseason, joining Dion Jordan. Jones, who was in line to serve as the Dolphins' starting strong safety, is thus eligible to participate in preseason practices and games, but once the season starts, it won't be until after the team's September 28 contest that he is reinstated. While Jones is unavailable early on, look for Jimmy Wilson to fill in.
Mon Aug 5 201318:41Fins ink Reshad Jones to 4-yr, $30M extension
Dolphins signed SS Reshad Jones to a four-year, $30 million contract extension.
Jones, 25, was planning to skip OTAs in the spring because he was upset that he wasn't apart of GM Jeff Ireland's spending spree. He eventually ended up reporting for the first session, and Ireland promised Jones "eventual" contract discussions. Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo reports the sides "recently" weren't close, so the deal must have come together quickly. The 2010 fifth-round pick had one year left on his rookie deal at $1.323 million, but he's now one of the ten highest-paid safeties in the league. Jones graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 3 overall safety last season.

Sat Jul 20 201322:02Dolphins SS Reshad Jones reports to camp
Dolphins SS Reshad Jones has reported to training camp.
Jones threatened to skip the Dolphins' offseason program while holding out for a new contract, but is now resigned to playing out the final year of his rookie deal. After spending over $200 million in free agency, GM Jeff Ireland has still yet to even approach him about an extension. Jones started all 16 games in 2012 and finished fourth on the team with 95 tackles.

Sun Jun 30 201311:08Dolphins, Reshad Jones haven't started talks
The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins and SS Reshad Jones "haven't started" contract extension talks.
Jones, 25, had planned to skip OTAs last month, but he showed up in exchange for "eventual" long-term contract discussions. GM Jeff Ireland holds all of the leverage, now, because Jones can be fined if he doesn't report to training camp. Pro Football Focus' No. 3 safety last season, Jones likely isn't thrilled with Ireland after he spent over $200 million in free agency and didn't even approach him about an extension. Jones has one year left on his rookie deal.

Mon May 20 201315:43Reshad Jones displeased with contract
A source close to Dolphins SS Reshad Jones confirmed Jones is skipping OTAs due to displeasure with his contract.
The source says Jones won't report to any of the Fins' upcoming three OTA practices "unless contract talks begin." The Dolphins are also missing Randy Starks, who signed his one-year franchise tender but would prefer a long-term commitment. Starks will be back by training camp. The Fins' bigger problem is Jones, who clearly has a bone to pick after GM Jeff Ireland spent over $200 million in max contractual worth this offseason, and didn't include him.

Mon May 20 201313:30Reshad Jones doesn't report for Dolphins OTAs
Dolphins SS Reshad Jones was a no-show for the start of OTAs Monday, and the team spent "much of the morning" attempting to locate him.
Miami Herald reporter Armando Salguero passes along "speculation" among teammates that Jones -- entering a contract year -- is "unsatisfied" with the progress of long-term extension talks with the Dolphins. GM Jeff Ireland spent more money than any front-office executive in the NFL this offseason, so Jones understandably feels snubbed after a breakout 2012 season. It's an inherent risk with free-agency building, as the Fins did. Locker-room turmoil is near inevitable.

Thu Jan 31 201313:52Dolphins expected to try and lock up SS Jones
The Palm Beach Post also expects the Dolphins to try and sign SS Reshad Jones to a contract extension this offseason.
The Miami Herald thought the same thing earlier in the month. Jones turns 25 next month and is entering the final year of his rookie contract, which will see him make $1.323 million. He started all 16 games in 2012 and finished fourth on the team with his 95 tackles. Jones is a solid building block for the future after being a fifth-round pick in 2010.

Wed Jan 30 201317:02Fins SS Reshad Jones triggers 2013 escalator
Dolphins SS Reshad Jones' base salary will be up from $575,000 to $1.323 million in 2013 after he hit escalators in his rookie contract.
Jones was a standout player in 2012, starting all 16 games and recording 95 tackles, nine passes defensed, and four interceptions. Jones, in his third year out of Georgia, graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 3 safety for the year, just behind Eric Weddle and Jairus Byrd. The Miami Herald reported earlier this month that the Dolphins are working on locking Jones up this offseason. He has one year left on his deal.

Sat Jan 12 201316:07Dolphins working to lock up SS Reshad Jones
The Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are currently trying to sign SS Reshad Jones to a contract extension.
Jones turns 25 in February and is entering the final year of his rookie deal. He emerged as a legit top-five safety in 2012, grading out third in Pro Football Focus' ratings behind only Eric Weddle and Jairus Byrd. Jones is a building block for Kevin Coyle's defense. We'd expect him to target a deal similar to that of Raiders SS Tyvon Branch, who inked a four-year, $26.6 million contract last offseason. Branch's deal contains $17.6 million guaranteed.

Fri Nov 16 201212:59Reshad Jones racks up 14 tackles in loss
Dolphins SS Reshad Jones led the team with 14 tackles (11 solo) while making several key third-down stops at Buffalo in Week 11.
Pro Football Focus credits Jones with an incredible eight stops (any tackle that prevents a successful offensive play), doubling his season total. He also forced a pair of fumbles. Under new DC Kevin Coyle, Jones has flown under the radar as a Pro Bowl caliber player this season, excelling in coverage as well as run support.
