Baltimore cut Cody on Friday after learning he is under investigation for animal cruelty, ESPN.com reports.

Cody is under investigation but not arrested for a cruelty case involving a dog, but nothing else is known at this point. A complete bust of a second-round pick from the 2010 draft, the Ravens only kept Cody around this long due to his draft pedigree. It wouldn't be surprising if he's done in the NFL.

Cody (hip) was activated from the Ravens' PUP list Tuesday, The Baltimore Sun reports.

Cody began practicing in mid-October, after landing on the Ravens' PUP list to begin this season. However, now that Cody is ready to go, he'll join Baltimore's active roster and compete for playing time at defensive end.

Cody was forced to miss the Ravens' first six games by virtue of opening the season on the PUP list, but he'll now attempt to work himself back into the team's rotation at defensive tackle. The mammoth Cody tallied 15 stops across 12 games last season.

A former second-round draft pick, Cody did little of note during his rookie contract, and then re-signed with the Ravens for the veteran's minimum. The team seems to at least view him as a suitable backup, but even if he gets healthy, Cody is unlikely to play more than a few snaps per game.
