Sheppard will sign with the Dolphins, The Palm Beach Post reports.
Sheppard's signing comes in wake of linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (hip) being placed on season-ending injured reserve. Now entering his fourth season, Sheppard struggled after being traded to the Colts ahead of last year, as he posted just 46 tackles (20 solo) in 15 games. He won't be a factor in IDP leagues.

"He showed up in great shape [for OTAs]," said new DC Dave Wannstedt, "and his attitude is good and I think he's excited about this scheme."
