Smith had eight solo tackles and a pick-six in Sunday's 19-13 loss to the Broncos.
Smith didn't have any hiccups in his recovery from season-ending foot surgery, and he appeared back at full strength in the opener. He's one of the more important players on the Baltimore defense, but his best IDP game of the season is likely behind him. Smith hasn't seen many passes in his direction over the last few years, as opposing quarterbacks have had far more success throwing at the other Baltimore cornerbacks.
Thu Jun 18 201511:59Jimmy Smith: (Foot) Making Good Progress In His Recovery
Smith is still not back to full strength in his recovery from surgery on a Lisfranc foot sprain he suffered nine months ago, but head coach John Harbaugh said the cornerback is showing good progress, Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun reports. "He has worked hard as far as the injury front this year," Harbaugh said of Smith on Tuesday. "He is getting closer and closer to being 100 percent. He's not there, yet, but nobody has worked harder than he has. He has been here every day since the season was over, so it probably starts that way in terms of leading by example."
The news is encouraging for Smith and the Ravens, as he is set to start at right cornerback fresh off signing a four-year, $48 million contract extension with Baltimore this offseason. Smith is definitely a young and talented defensive back, but his history with injuries is still a cause for concern, regardless of how well he heals from this injury. In his eight games before suffering from the injury, Smith recorded 28 tackles and just one interception, and should only be considered an IDP option in deeper leagues for now.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Smith (foot) is ahead of schedule, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Smith is already participating in parts of OTAs, after undergoing season-ending foot surgery in November. He's been excellent when healthy over the last two seasons, leading the Ravens to give him a four-year contract extension that includes $21 million in guarantees. Smith is locked in as the starting right cornerback, with Lardarius Webb on the other side. It's a talented corner duo, but both players have troublesome injury histories, and neither is a high-end IDP.
Tue Apr 21 201517:04Jimmy Smith: (Foot) Signs Extension With Ravens
Smith signed a four-year extension with the Ravens on Tuesday, the team's official website reports.
Smith is now under contract for the next five seasons on a deal worth up to $48 million. While he's missed 17 games through the first four years of his career, the 26-year-old cornerback performed at a high level when healthy in 2013 and 2014. Smith had season-ending foot surgery back in November, but the new contract makes it pretty clear that the Ravens aren't too concerned. While crucial to the Baltimore defense, Smith has never been much of an IDP, with just 140 tackles (121 solo) and five interceptions in his career.
Sat Nov 8 201412:30Smith (foot) placed on injured reserve Saturday
Smith (foot) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
This was merely a formality, as Smith underwent season-ending foot surgery earlier in the week. Rashaan Melvin was signed off Miami's practice squad to take Smith's place on the active roster, but Danny Gorrer and Tramain Jacobs seem like the top candidates for increased snaps opposite Lardarius Webb.
Thu Nov 6 201416:33Smith slated to undergo season-ending foot surgery
Smith is slated to undergo season-ending foot surgery, the Carroll County Times reports.
With Smith no longer in the mix, Lardarius Webb slots in as the Ravens' top cornerback, with the likes of Danny Gorrer and Tramain Jacobs candidates for added work in the coming weeks, in Smith's absence.
Mon Oct 27 201416:47A sprained left foot will sideline Smith for few weeks
A sprained left foot will sideline Smith for a few weeks, the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reports. "Jimmy is going to be out for a few weeks," coach John Harbaugh said Monday. "It's not a Lisfranc deal. It's a mid-foot sprain."
With Smith unavailable in the coming week, look for the Ravens to turn to Dominique Franks to fill in at cornerback in his place opposite Lardarius Webb.
Mon Oct 27 201414:30Smith will have MRI on sprained left foot
Smith will have an MRI on his sprained left foot, the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reports.
Any absence would be a significant blow to the Ravens, as Smith has been easily the most consistent player in an otherwise shaky defensive backfield this season. Dominique Franks, who was released by the team in training camp, filled in at cornerback across from Lardarius Webb after Smith was forced out of Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Smith has a sprained left foot and is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against Cincinnati, according to the Ravens.
He's not much of a fantasy producer, but losing Smith is a major loss for the Ravens in an important divisional matchup. Dominique Franks replaced him.

Smith left Sunday's game against the Bengals in the first quarter with an apparent left foot injury, the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reports.
Smith ran off the field with a pronounced limp and had his left shoe removed by trainers on the sideline before he was carted to the locker room. With 28 tackles and an interception this season, he's not a major fantasy factor, but he is hugely valuable to the Ravens as their top cornerback. Dominique Franks will replace Smith.

Smith had two tackles (both solo) and two passes defensed in Sunday's 29-7 win over the Falcons.
One of the passes defensed will haunt him, as Smith dropped a potential pick-six that couldn't have been an easier catch. Outside of his eight passes defensed, Smith hasn't done much from a statistical standpoint this season, as opposing quarterbacks have wisely decided to test Baltimore's other defensive backs. If fellow cornerback Lardarius Webb can get back to his past form, Smith might see a few more looks in his own direction.
Wed Sep 3 201417:26Smith (chest) set to play Sunday against Bengals
Smith (chest) is set to play Sunday against the Bengals, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Smith suffered a chest contusion against the Cowboys back on Aug.16, but he noted Wednesday that he is "absolutely fine" at this stage, a notion supported by the fact that he is not listed on the Ravens' first injury report in advance of Week 1.
Sat Aug 30 201414:14Smith (chest) returned to practice on limited basis Saturday
Smith (chest) returned to practice on a limited basis Saturday, The Baltimore Sun reports.
The same goes for fellow starting cornerback Lardarius Webb (back), who seems to be in more danger than Smith when it comes to potentially missing Week 1. Projected No. 3 corner Asa Jackson (ankle) also returned from an injury to practice Saturday, as the Ravens are quite banged up at a position where they lack depth. Should any of the aforementioned three corners miss Week 1, Chykie Brown, Dominique Franks and/or Derek Cox could be asked to step into bigger roles. There isn't much IDP appeal here, but Smith and Webb could both be worth a look if they're healthy to start the season.

Smith (chest) will not play in Saturday's preseason game versus the Redskins, the Baltimore Post reports.
Smith bruised his chest during last weekend's exhibition outing and will sit out Saturday's game, as the Ravens look to preserve their starting cornerback for the regular season. With Lardarius Webb (back) and Asa Jackson (ankle) also banged-up, Baltimore has no reason to risk further damage by playing Smith in a relatively meaningless game.
Wed Aug 20 201423:08Smith (chest) will likely play in Saturday's preseason game agai...
Smith (chest) will likely play in Saturday's preseason game against the Redskins, The Ravens' official website reports.
Though he coughed up blood after getting hurt during the last exhibition game, Smith seems to have avoided a serious injury. Of the Ravens' starting cornerbacks, Lardarius Webb (back) is in much greater danger of missing Week 1 against the Bengals.
Mon Aug 18 201415:04Smith (chest) did not practice Monday
Smith (chest) did not practice Monday, ESPN.com reports.
Smith bruised his chest after landing hard on his back during Saturday's preseason game in Dallas. Following that spill, the cornerback was seen spitting blood on the field. Fortunately, X-rays on Smith's chest returned negative and his injury is not considered serious. Locked in as a starter, Smith is afforded the luxury of resting until he's back to full health. As such, it wouldn't be surprising if Smith missed Saturday's next exhibition outing to ensure he's in top shape as the regular season approaches.
Sun Aug 17 201415:20Smith's chest injury not considered serious
Smith's chest injury is not considered serious, the Ravens' official website reports.
That's good news for the Ravens, who were already thin at cornerback before accounting for injuries to top corner Lardarius Webb (back) and likely nickelback Asa Jackson (ankle). While the team has generally been optimistic about all the injuries, Webb has been dealing with his issue for nearly a month, and Jackson was seen in a walking boot Saturday night. Smith, who is locked in as a starter, seems to be in the least danger of the trio. Though he doesn't have the best ball skills and isn't a major presence defending the run, Smith figures to be an every-down player, and could thus be a useful IDP.
Sat Aug 16 201420:08Smith left Saturday's preseason game with chest injury
Smith left Saturday's preseason game with a chest injury, and X-rays came back negative, The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec reports.
After landing awkwardly while trying to break up a pass, Smith went to the locker room for X-rays. The Ravens are already thin at cornerback, as the team lacks proven depth behind Smith and Lardarius Webb (back), the latter of whom has yet to play this preseason. Smith's negative X-ray is an excellent sign for the Ravens, but the team is still in a precarious position at cornerback. In addition to Webb and Smith, projected No. 3 corner Asa Jackson missed Saturday's game with a foot injury.
Mon Jul 14 201410:06Smith not expected to face league discipline
Ravens CB Jimmy Smith is not expected to face discipline from the NFL following his Saturday night arrest.
Smith reportedly refused to back away from a woman who was overdosing at a bar and was charged with a misdemeanor peace disturbance. It may not even count as an offense against the personal conduct policy. Smith will line up across from Lardarius Webb when the Ravens host the Bengals Week 1.

Sun Jul 13 201414:46Details emerge on Jimmy Smith's arrest
Towson (MD) police allege Ravens CB Jimmy Smith was attending to a woman who had overdosed on cocaine before his Saturday night arrest.
Smith was "trying to help" the woman, who ODed at a Towson bar. He "disobeyed orders" when medics arrived. After numerous expletives, Smith "played the 'I'm Jimmy Smith. I play for the Ravens' card," and told police "You're only doing this so you can get on the news," according to Baltimore reporter Paul Gessler. Smith has only been charged with a misdemeanor peace disturbance.
