Campbell signed with the Jaguars on Wednesday, ESPN reports.

Campbell spent his first three seasons with the Titans, recording 32 tackles (24 solo) over that time. With fellow cornerback Alan Ball (biceps) being placed on injured reserve, Campbell will be asked to provide depth to the Jaguars' secondary.

The Titans tried molding Campbell into a starter to take Alterraun Verner's job all offseason. When push came to shove, Campbell couldn't cut it and Verner has exploded to become one of the NFL's top cornerbacks in 2013, his contract year. At one point a core special teamer but never an asset on defense, Campbell shouldn't be assured of a roster spot in 2014.

Campbell lost the starting right cornerback job to Alterraun Verner, but will see playing time in a rotation opposite Jason McCourty. Because he has better size than Verner, The Titans are considering matching him up with Andre Johnson next week. "He can get his hand on big wide receivers, and we know who we've got coming up in a week," Gray said. "And this guy is a really good wide receiver, and one of the best in the league. That may be best for us."

Alterraun Verner has mostly worked at free safety during the offseason, leaving Campbell as the favorite to start opposite Jason McCourty. As a seventh-round rookie last year, Campbell played just 68 snaps on defense -- with 52 of those coming in Week 17.

"If I have deep-third coverage in practice. then I need to be in the deep third," he said. The Titans would be wise to get Campbell on the field more in 2013, kicking Alterraun Verner into a more natural slot role.
