Franklin (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Steelers. |
With D.J. Fluker (ankle) also questionable for Monday's game, it's unclear who will get the start at either guard position against the Steelers, further clouting Melvin Gordon's fantasy value this week. |
Tue Mar 10 2015 | 16:48 | Franklin agreed to five-year contract with Chargers on Tuesday |
Franklin agreed to a five-year contract with the Chargers on Tuesday. |
Franklin played tackle for three seasons before switching to guard in his final year in Denver, and he will remain at his new position moving forward. The Chargers are counting on Franklin providing a boost to a rushing attack that finished 30th out of 32 teams a season ago. |
Mon Mar 9 2015 | 12:53 | Franklin slated to sign with Chargers |
Franklin is slated to sign with the Chargers, ESPN.com reports. |
Per the report, Franklin's deal is expected to be worth close to $36.5 million, with $20 million guaranteed. With the Chargers, the versatile Franklin -- who can play both tackle and guard -- will be reunited with his former offensive coordinator in Denver, Mike McCoy, who is now San Diego's head coach. |
Mon Apr 21 2014 | 17:07 | Broncos move Orlando Franklin to left guard |
Broncos OL Orlando Franklin announced on Twitter that he has been moved from right tackle to left guard. |
Franklin spent the last three seasons as Denver's right tackle, showing run-blocking prowess but struggling on an island. Left guard is a better fit for his skill set. We'd project the Broncos' pre-draft offensive line as follows: LT Ryan Clady, LG Franklin, C Manuel Ramirez, RG Louis Vasquez, RT Chris Clark. |

Thu Feb 27 2014 | 12:39 | Orlando Franklin a candidate to move inside |
Broncos RT Orlando Franklin is a candidate to move to left guard if free agent Zane Beadles walks. |
With an eye on re-signing Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas and Von Miller before 2015, the Broncos aren't expected to pony up the cash for Beadles. If Franklin moves inside, they'll have a formidable power due up the middle with Louis Vasquez -- but will also have a hole at right tackle. Chris Clark and Vinston Painter would be question marks at that spot. As we saw in the Super Bowl, Peyton Manning is a mere mortal without quality protection. |

Mon Oct 14 2013 | 15:22 | Broncos RT Franklin also has ankle injury |
Broncos RT Orlando Franklin suffered knee and ankle sprains in Sunday's win. |
We already knew about the knee sprain, but the ankle injury is a new one. It makes Franklin extremely unlikely to suit up for Sunday's game against the Colts. G Louis Vasquez took Franklin's place in the lineup Sunday, with Chris Kuper coming in at guard. |

Sun Oct 13 2013 | 21:47 | Orlando Franklin leaves with knee injury |
Broncos RT Orlando Franklin left Sunday's Week 6 game against the Jaguars on crutches following a left knee injury. |
Keep in mind the Broncos are already without LT Ryan Clady for the season. So they're now minus both starting offensive tackles entering a Week 7 date with the Colts. On Sunday, Denver replaced Franklin at right tackle with usual guard Louis Vasquez, and Chris Kuper entered the lineup to take Vasquez's place. |

Broncos RT Orlando Franklin (toe surgery) expects to be "good to go" for OTAs. |
Franklin also revealed he's recovering from a shoulder injury. He puts his toe at 100 percent, and shoulder at "85 percent." Franklin is planning to play at 315 pounds in 2013 after never previously dipping below 320. Only 25 years old, Franklin graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 5 right tackle last season. |

Wed Feb 6 2013 | 20:34 | Broncos to possibly move Franklin to guard? |
The Denver Post says the Broncos will look "long and hard" at moving RT Orlando Franklin inside to guard. |
Franklin, at 6-foot-7 and 330 pounds, might be a little tall to play on the interior, but he certainly has the girth to push people around on the inside. In just his second year out of Miami in 2012, Franklin started all 17 games, including the playoffs, and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 6 overall right tackle, finishing second in pass-blocking. It's not typical to see a guy who is excelling at one spot get moved to another, but the Broncos are legitimately concerned over RG Chris Kuper's (ankle) health. |

Sat Aug 4 2012 | 12:45 | Orlando Franklin back after concussion |
Broncos RT Orlando Franklin has been cleared to return to practice after suffering a concussion on the first day of camp. |
The injury won't be a concern going forward in camp, but is something to file away for if/when Franklin suffers another head injury. The Denver Post reported last week the Broncos have "kicked around" giving Franklin reps at right guard, but that idea will likely be shelved with RG Chris Kuper (broken leg) looking healthy early in camp. |

Sat Jul 28 2012 | 15:03 | Orlando Franklin could see time at guard |
According to the Denver Post, the Broncos have "kicked around" the idea of moving RT Orlando Franklin to guard. |
The move would give the Broncos insurance on RG Chris Kuper (broken leg), but also open up a hole at right tackle. Kuper has been cleared for camp. Franklin actually made 12 more starts at guard than tackle for the University of Miami, and was much better in the run game than pass protection as a rookie. |

Thu Oct 6 2011 | 08:08 | Orlando Franklin excused from team |
Broncos RT Orlando Franklin has been excused from the team to deal with a family matter. |
On Wednesday night, Franklin tweeted, "Thanks guys for all your prayers for my little brother. Its a shame that he had to die at 20." Franklin, the No. 46 overall pick in the draft, has started all four games this season. If he doesn't return to the team in time for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Chris Clark and Tony Hills are candidates to get the nod. |

Thu Jul 28 2011 | 11:12 | Broncos sign second-round RT Franklin |
Broncos signed No. 46 overall pick RT Orlando Franklin to a four-year contract. |
The Broncos love Franklin's potential as a mauling run blocker, but he's considered a work in progress in pass protection. That could be a rookie-season issue as he guards Tim Tebow's blindside. |
