Thu Dec 5 2013 | 10:09 | Johnnie Troutman benched by Chargers |
Chargers LG Johnnie Troutman has been demoted out of the starting lineup. |
Troutman drew the ire of coach Mike McCoy when he was flagged for a penalty late in the fourth quarter last week. So with LT King Dunlap (neck) getting back, the Chargers can start D.J. Fluker at right tackle, Jeromey Clary at right guard and Chad Rinehart at left guard. It's the first time their offensive line has been intact since Weeks 1 and 2. |

Fri May 3 2013 | 14:09 | Troutman to compete for starting job |
Chargers GM Tom Telesco anticipates second-year OG Johnnie Troutman competing for a starting job in camp. |
Troutman is an old-regime holdover who didn't play as a rookie due to multiple injuries, but San Diego has arguably the worst offensive line in the league and they can't afford to gloss over any inherited pieces. If the season began today, we suspect the Chargers' line would look like this: LT King Dunlap, LG Troutman, C Nick Hardwick, RG Chad Rinehart, and RT D.J. Fluker. That's ugly. |

Sat Nov 3 2012 | 18:31 | Chargers rookie guard to begin practicing |
Chargers OG Johnnie Troutman (pectoral surgery, PUP) is expected to begin practicing on Monday. |
Troutman tore his pectoral muscle while lifting weights just days before being selected in the fifth round of April's NFL Draft. Once he steps onto the practice field, the Chargers will have three weeks to either activate Troutman or send him to season-ending injured reserve. The rookie is not expected to play this year, but he could emerge as a mauling run-blocking guard down the road. |

Wed Sep 19 2012 | 23:13 | Johnnie Troutman adds knee scope to rehab |
Chargers OG Johnnie Troutman (pectoral surgery, PUP) recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. |
The Chargers may as well have gotten the other surgery out of the way with Troutman sidelined on reserve/PUP. The scope entails only a two- to three-week recovery. Per the Union-Tribune San Diego, the fifth-round pick out of Penn State "is not expected to play this season." The organization still believes Troutman can emerge as a power-blocking starter at guard down the road. |

Mon Jul 23 2012 | 16:07 | Troutman to begin year on PUP/list |
The Union-Tribune San Diego confirms Chargers fifth-round OG Johnnie Troutman (torn pectoral) will begin the season on the reserve/PUP list, and reports the Chargers hope he "(sits) his rookie season." |
It means Troutman will miss all of camp, and at least the first six games of the season. Per long-time Chargers beat writer/columnist Kevin Acee, the Bolts hope Troutman sits because "if he's playing it's due to injuries or severe performance issues on the offensive line." He shouldn't be counted on to play a snap in 2012. |

Wed Jul 11 2012 | 12:19 | Rookie OG Troutman to miss training camp |
Chargers fifth-round OG Johnnie Troutman (torn pectoral) is expected to open the season on the reserve/PUP list. |
Troutman will likely miss all of camp and at least the first six games of the regular season after suffering the injury two weeks before the NFL draft in April. "Come October, we're going to get a guy who probably should have been drafted a lot earlier if he'd have been healthy," said OC Hal Hunter. |
