Powell, who tore his ACL in Monday's practice, has been placed on injured reserve for the season, ESPN.com reports.

Sat Jul 5 201418:36Bills LB Ty Powell could be on roster bubble
ESPN Bills reporter Mike Rodak lists LB Ty Powell on the roster bubble.
Powell appeared in five games with Buffalo last season after failing to make the Seahawks as a seventh-round pick. His roster chances were increased by Kiko Alonso's season-ending knee injury, but his spot should be safe regardless. Rodak puts Powell's chance of making the team at 75 percent. Powell should push for a role as a cover linebacker in sub packages this season.

With Kiko Alonso moving to weak-side linebacker, the Bills are considering using Powell in a rotation with Brandon Spikes at the MIKE spot. Fri Mar 14 201409:04Ty Powell could be option for Bills at MLB?
Bills GM Doug Whaley mentioned second-year LB Ty Powell as a candidate for the starting middle linebacker spot.
Powell was a seventh-round pick by the Seahawks last April. He couldn't crack Seattle's loaded roster and appeared in five games for the Bills as a rookie, making nine tackles. Kiko Alonso is moving to weak-side linebacker in 2014. Powell is a big-time athlete and former defensive back. The Bills will have tryouts at the MIKE spot.

Bills promoted LB Ty Powell and CB Brandon Smith from the practice squad.
CB Johnny Adams and LB Marcus Dowtin were waived in corresponding roster moves. It's just some end of roster churning that won't have an effect outside of special teams. Powell was the No. 231 pick of April's draft, but couldn't make the Seahawks out of camp.
