McDonald registered eight tackles in a 12-6 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
McDonald is off to a slow start compared to last season, as he has only 17 tackles in three games. His 100-plus tackles from last season may have been an outlier unless he can start to produce more.

McDonald registered a pair of tackles in Saturday's 24-14 preseason loss to the Colts.
McDonald proved to be a huge asset for the Rams last season and will look to improve on that even further in his third season. While it may be tough to hit triple digits in tackles again from the safety position, he appears primed for another big year. His IDP value, however, is a little limited as he doesn't tend to pick off passes often.

McDonald is dealing with an "ordeal," but head coach Jeff Fisher expects the strong safety to be ready for camp, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Such verbiage implies that McDonald is dealing with a personal concern rather than an ailment. With no mandatory minicamp on the Rams' offseason docket, his availability will become more clear if he's absent for the start of training camp. As his third NFL season approaches, he'll aim to build upon his 104 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery from a year ago.

McDonald has been quite productive at the safety position this season, with 87 tackles, an interception, a sack and two blocked kicks. He has been a big part of the Rams' stellar defense the last several weeks.

McDonald (concussion) is probable for Sunday's game against Kansas City, St. Louis Post-Dispatch writer Jim Thomas reports.
McDonald has been a bit up and down as an IDP option this year, but with 38 tackles in six games, he's still right on pace for about 100 tackles. He's a justifiable DB2 consideration most weeks.
Wed Oct 22 201419:13McDonald (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday
McDonald (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Outside of two monster performances in Weeks 5 and 6 -- 11 and 10 tackles, respectively -- McDonald has contributed little to IDP causes, recording 17 tackles (14 solo) in four games. With no other counting stats on the ledger this season, he's a hit-or-miss prospect, when healthy.
Tue Oct 14 201422:00McDonald tallied 10 tackles in 31-17 loss to 49ers on Monday
McDonald tallied 10 tackles in a 31-17 loss to the 49ers on Monday.
McDonald has had a pretty good season, with 35 tackles and a pair of blocked kicks in five games. His lack of interceptions are going to hurt his IDP value, however.
Mon Sep 22 201411:13McDonald registered four tackles Sunday as St
McDonald registered four tackles Sunday as St. Louis lost to Dallas 34-31.
McDonald was a candidate for NFC Defensive Player of the Week last week with two blocked kicks and five tackles, but had a rougher game against Dallas. The Rams' secondary was torched in the second half, and things don't get easier after the bye against the Eagles' prolific offense.
Wed Apr 30 201410:44T.J. McDonald locked in as starter
T.J. McDonald is locked in as one of the Rams starting safeties.
McDonald's rookie year was sidetracked by a fractured leg that cost him six games, but he was solid down the stretch and won't face competition. The real hole for the Rams is opposite McDonald, as they desperately need an upgrade on Rodney McLeod. The Post-Dispatch expects safety to be addressed early in next week's draft.

Rams S T.J. McDonald (short-term I.R./broken leg) is expected to return when first eligible in Week 13.
"He's progressing nicely," coach Jeff Fisher said. "He's actually on land running right now (as opposed to pool work), so that's a huge step for him. We won't have any problems with the timing of that." McDonald was a starter before going down, and will likely return as such.

Thu Sep 26 201323:43Rams SS T.J. McDonald has fractured leg
Rams SS T.J. McDonald suffered a fractured right leg in Week 4 against the 49ers.
McDonald is out indefinitely and will likely be placed on injured reserve. It's a tough blow to a Rams' secondary that also lost Cortland Finnegan (thigh) to injury. Matt Giordano should get the majority of playing time in McDonald's absence.

Thu Aug 8 201314:24McDonald a 'quick study' so far for Rams
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch says third-round pick T.J. McDonald has been a "quick study" in training camp at strong safety.
McDonald appears to have already sewn up a starting job, with Darian Stewart at free safety. McDonald's college game tape was largely unimpressive, but he'll have a good chance for IDP impact as St. Louis' in-the-box stuffer. Quintin Mikell racked up 101 tackles and four forced fumbles at the same position in 2012.

Mon Jul 22 201313:37McDonald, Stewart 'expected starters' at S
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch considers rookie T.J. McDonald and veteran Darian Stewart the Rams' "expected starters" at safety.
Stewart will presumably play free safety with McDonald at strong, although new DC Tim Walton generally considers his safeties interchangeable. If you're seeking IDP value, McDonald is the guy to target despite a limited skill set. We were unimpressed by McDonald's physicality and cover skills on college tape.
