Sun Oct 26 201412:18Gratz (hip) active for Sunday's game against Dolphins
Gratz (hip) is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Gratz hasn't seen more than 23 snaps on defense since Week 3, but will get the starting nod at cornerback with Alan Ball (biceps) on the inactive list. Although Gratz did not participate in Friday's practice, the hip flexor injury must have subsided enough for the Jags to feel comfortable with the 24-year-old returning to action. The fifth-year player has collected 22 tackles (18 solo) and an interception so far in 2014.
Thu Jul 10 201412:41Jags believe Gratz a 'building block'
Jaguars.com's John Oehser said the Jaguars view second-year CB Dwayne Gratz as a "building block of the defense."
Gratz had a solid rookie campaign, earning positive marks from Pro Football Focus and holding opposing quarterbacks to a meager 75.7 quarterback rating when they threw his way. Will Blackmon will challenge him, but Gratz is the favorite to open the season opposite Alan Ball.

Jaguars CB Dwayne Gratz (ankle) is not expected to play Week 5.
Gratz has a legit high-ankle sprain. The third-round rookie has been forced to sit and watch his teammates get humiliated in four straight games. The Jags secondary should be the antidote for what ails Sam Bradford and the Rams offense. St. Louis has been installed as a 13-point favorite.

Wed Jul 10 201308:59Jags Gratz, Ball favorites to start at CB
Jaguars rookie Dwayne Gratz and Alan Ball are considered the favorites to start at cornerback.
Gratz was a third-round pick out of UConn, and has drawn internal comparisons to Carlos Rogers from Jags DBs coach, Dwayne Walker. Ball is entering his seventh season as a pro, but has historically been a liability in pass coverage. He played only 85 snaps for the Texans last season, and was used primarily on special teams. It's a concerning situation for the Jags, and is magnified by the fact they'll also be starting a rookie in Johnathan Cyprien at safety.
