Oliver did not record a single touch in Sunday's win over the Browns.
The San Diego running game is clearly a two-man show with Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead taking all of the meaningful snaps. Until further notice, consider Oliver nothing more than insurance for the Bolts.

Oliver had a season-high eight carries for 26 yards but did not catch his lone target in Sunday's loss at Minnesota.
Most of Oliver's touches came after this game was decided and the Bolts pulled both Melvin Gordon and Philip Rivers out of the game. Oliver's value will remain very low unless one of the top running backs gets injured.

Oliver had one carry for two yards in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati.
Once again, Melvin Gordon was the lead rushing tailback with Danny Woodhead getting the bulk of the work in passing situations. Don't expect Oliver to see any significant action unless one of the aforementioned players goes down.

Oliver had two carries for four yards and one reception for 17 yards in Sunday's win over the Lions.
As expected, Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead lead the way for the running backs as they had 17 and 16 touches respectively in this game. Unless one of those two goes down with an injury, it's hard to imaging Oliver getting more than a handful of touches every week. For now, it looks like he is just coming in when either of the top two guys need a blow.

Oliver had five carries for 14 yards and one reception for a 70-yard touchdown in Saturday night's preseason game against the Seahawks.
It seems pretty clear that Oliver is slotted in as the primary backup tailback behind rookie Melvin Gordon this season. And with Danny Woodhead handling most of the work in passing situations, Oliver doesn't figure to get too many touches unless an injury occurs. Still, he is a capable back who knows the offense, and as such, he carries some value.

Oliver had 10 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason opener against the Cowboys.
Melvin Gordon played the first quarter and managed just 11 yards on six carries, giving way to Danny Woodhead on passing downs. Oliver then played nearly every snap in the second quarter, including one drive on which he had six carries for 36 yards and a score.

With the Chargers having selected Melvin Gordon in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft, Oliver's chances of heading the team's post-Ryan Mathews backfield have greatly diminished.
While the Chargers predictably suggested that Gordon will have to earn his role in the teams' 2015 backfield, the team traded up to select him 15th overall on Thursday, which sets the stage for Oilver, Danny Woodhead and Donald Brown to work in complementary roles for the team this coming season.
Wed Mar 25 201512:32Following free agent departure of Ryan Mathews
Following the free agent departure of Ryan Mathews, Oliver is a candidate the head the Chargers' backfield this coming season, ESPN.com reports.
"Ryan was very unique," coach Mike McCoy acknowledged with regard to Mathews. "He's different than what we have now. But as that physical guy, yes, you can say Branden is that physical guy we have now." With that in mind, as the team's running back depth chart stands, Oliver slots in as the top option, with Danny Woodhead slated to return in a change-of-pace role and Donald Brown on hand to work in a complementary role. That said, it wouldn't surprise us if the Chargers continued to add depth at the position, either in free agency or through the upcoming NFL draft.

Oliver had 14 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown and added two receptions for two yards in the Chargers' season-ending loss at Kansas City on Sunday.
Oliver was asked to do quite a bit more than anybody anticipated this season as Ryan Mathews missed a total of 10 games due to injuries, and he proved himself to be a capable backup. Oliver is a tough runner who finished the year with 582 yards on 160 carries and also added 269 receiving yards. A relatively unknown, undrafted rookie heading into the season, it would appear that Oliver has locked down a roster spot in San Diego for the foreseeable future.

Oliver had a team-high 13 carries for 53 yards in Saturday's overtime win over the 49ers. He added three receptions for 28 yards.
It was a three-headed rushing attack for the Chargers, but Oliver received more than half the carries (13 of 24). It's still too early to know much about Ryan Mathews' health status for Week 17, but if he is forced to miss another game, Oliver would be an appealing flex play against the Chiefs, who have allowed four different opposing running backs to rush for 100-plus yards in the last five weeks.

Oliver ran for 26 yards on 12 carries and caught 4-of-4 targets for 44 yards in Sunday's loss to Denver.
Oliver got the start for an inactive Ryan Mathews (ankle), and saw seven more carries than Donald Brown, although both players caught four passes. The Broncos have a strong rush defense, so it's not surprising that Oliver got held in check, but that doesn't console fantasy owners that used him. If Mathews misses another game next week at San Francisco, it appears as though Oliver will lead the way in the Chargers' backfield.

The Chargers list Oliver as their starting running back Sunday against the Broncos, with Ryan Mathews out, the San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken reports.
Per the report, Donald Brown also figures to see his share of work Sunday, plus Ronnie Brown is a candidate to see some third-down action, but Oliver is worth a look by those in deep leagues scrambling for RB help at this stage.

Oliver had only one carry for seven yards in Sundays game at Baltimore.
Since Ryan Mathews has come back to the starting lineup, Oliver has seen his role greatly diminished. Oliver had 13 carries in Mathews' first game back, six in Week 12, and just one on Sunday. Oliver is still the primary backup, but in games like this one where the Bolts need to throw the ball a ton, there just isn't enough carries to go around.

Oliver had six carries for 17 yards and caught 4-of-4 targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Rams.
Oliver ran hard, with limited touches, but Ryan Mathews shined in his second game back from a knee injury, rushing for 105 yards on 12 carries. Mathews did leave the game in the second half due to a shoulder injury, although he did return. Mathews' practice/participation level will be something to keep an eye on this week, however, if you're an Oliver owner. In Week 13, Oliver will face a tough Ravens' rush defense.

Oliver had 13 carries for 36 yards and caught 1-of-3 targets for three yards in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Raiders.
Oliver probably received a little more work than some thought, considering Ryan Mathews (knee) returned from an extended absence, and that the game was close throughout. Mathews looked good in his first game since Week 2, rushing for 70 yards on 16 carries. Meanwhile, Donald Brown, who opened the season as the primary backup to Mathews, had just one carry Sunday. Expect Oliver to continue to see some looks in the passing game, playing the Danny Woodhead role, while spelling Mathews on certain running situations. Next week, Oliver will take on a Rams' defense that has been good against the run over the last month.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Oliver's teammate, Ryan Mathews, is expected to start Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Oliver, who provided some unexpected fantasy utility in Mathews' absence, thus appears on track to work in a complementary role this weekend, a role that limits his utility to deeper formats. That said, Oliver is worth a roster stash as Mathews insurance and also given the possibility that he could carve out his share of change-of-pace work in the coming weeks.

Oliver had 13 carries for 19 rushing yards and one catch on two targets for seven receiving yards in Sunday's 37-0 loss at Miami.
The Dolphins dominated in every facet of the game, leaving Oliver to do very little once the Chargers had to abandon the run. Donald Brown returned from a concussion, though he rushed just four times for 23 yards and caught one pass for six receiving yards. The Chargers are off in Week 10, and with Ryan Mathews possibly returning from his knee injury for Week 11 against the Raiders, Oliver figures to see a significant decline in his touches.

Oliver is listed as the starting running back for Sunday's game against Miami, the San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken reports.
Although Donald Brown will return to action, Oliver has played very well and has earned the right to remain the starter. However, Brown's presence could mean a slightly diminished workload for Oliver, at least in the running game. As a receiver, Oliver has proven his worth, and he could maintain a role as a regular pass-catcher even when Ryan Mathews returns.
Sat Nov 1 201414:18Donald Brown listed as probable for Sunday's game at Miami
Donald Brown is listed as probable for Sunday's game at Miami, so it seems likely that Oliver could see his role diminish for the first time since his breakout Week 5 performance, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Oliver has played extremely well for the Bolts, helping to keep the train rolling while all three of the top running backs were injured, so he is likely to continue to get touches as the season wears on, but his time as the undisputed alpha-dog might be over. It's certainly possible that the Chargers might want to bring Brown along slowly, so Oliver could still end up with the most touches at Miami, but Ryan Mathews is also only about one week away from return to action, so this could be the tail end of Oliver's time to shine.

Oliver gained 36 yards on 13 carries and 27 yards on seven reception in Thursday's 35-21 loss to the Broncos.
Ronnie Brown had one carry and one reception, while Shaun Draughn did not register a touch. It was Oliver dominating both the touches and snaps in a matchup that left him with minimal room to run. He was around or under one yard per carry for the entire game, until breaking off a meaningless 23-yard scamper on the final play of the contest. As ugly as the rushing numbers were, Oliver didn't seem to make many mistakes. The real problem was that San Diego's shaky offensive line couldn't handle a stout Denver front seven, putting the entire game on Philip Rivers' shoulders. Oliver also didn't have much room to work with on his receptions, though he perhaps could have done a bit better the two or three times he actually saw a small slice of open field. He may again find himself dependent on the receptions next week, as the Chargers have to face a tough Dolphins defense in Miami. There's some chance Ryan Mathews (knee) and/or Donald Brown (concussion) could return, but neither player seemed close to being ready this week.
