Tue Sep 1 201513:11Benjamin (knee) placed on injured reserve Tuesday
Benjamin (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
With Benjamin out for the season due to a torn ACL, the Panthers will rely on some combination of Philly Brown, Devin Funchess, Ted Ginn, Jerricho Cotchery, Brenton Bersin and Kevin Norwood. Having suffered the injury during training camp, Benjamin should be ready for Week 1 in 2016.
Wed Aug 19 201517:36Kelvin Benjamin: Torn ACL, Out For Season
Benjamin suffered a torn ACL on Wednesday and will miss the entire 2015 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Benjamin was carted off the field in the midst of Wednesday's practice, and following an MRI, the worst has been confirmed. With the second-year wideout out of the picture, the Panthers will trot out one of the least talented receiving corps outside of veteran tight end Greg Olsen. No matter, rookie Devin Funchess (hamstring) should receive the requisite bump up cheat sheets in advance of the season.
Wed Aug 19 201511:35Kelvin Benjamin: Sprains Knee; MRI on Tap
Benjamin, who was carted off the field Wednesday after injuring his left knee in practice, is slated to undergo an MRI, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Per the report, coach Ron Rivera indicated that preliminary indications are that Benjamin suffered a sprained knee during a one-on-one drill Wednesday. Benjamin, who is coming off a rookie campaign in which he notched 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns, is thus slated to miss some time, though at this stage it's too early to accurately predict whether the 24-year-old wideout's Week 1 status is in danger.
Wed Aug 19 201510:31Kelvin Benjamin: (Knee) Carted Off Field
Benjamin was carted off the field with an apparent left knee injury during Wednesday's practice, Jeff Zell of WCCB Sports reports.
The injury was suffered when Benjamin went to plant his left foot while cutting back during a route, causing him to immediately fall to the ground in pain clutching his left knee. Being that it was a non-contact injury, the initial signs don't look good out of Carolina as Benjamin may have to miss a portion of the 2015-16 season. Although still not official, Devin Funchess, Philly Brown, and Jerricho Cotchery are in line to move up the depth chart.

Benjamin (hamstring) returned to practice Tuesday, the Panthers' official site reports.
Benjamin took a couple days off after dealing with some soreness in the wake of Carolina's first preseason game. He caught three passes for 36 yards and a touchdown in the contest, suggesting that his hamstring is no longer a major concern. Benjamin is locked in as Carolina's No. 1 wide receiver, with the team likely to use a rotation behind him.

Benjamin (hamstring) caught three of five targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason opener against the Bills.
After dealing with a hamstring issue during the offseason, Benjamin has been a full participant at training camp. He's locked in as Cam Newton's go-to receiver, seemingly assured to see a steady flow of targets. Benjamin showed more than a few flashes of his talent while posting a a 73-1,008-9 receiving line as a rookie, but he also had some ugly drops and produced just 6.9 yards per target.

Benjamin (hamstring) confirmed that he'll be good to go once the Panthers' training camp practices commence. "I feel great," Benjamin noted Thursday. "I told the trainers that I'm full to go the first day."
Moreover, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer relays that coach Ron Rivera says that Benjamin arrived to training camp in great shape, a nugget that should put to rest any previous concerns surrounding Benjamin's weight and conditioning. Benjamin, who recorded 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games as a rookie last season, is thus slated to reprise his role as a starting wideout for the Panthers, this time around with promising 6-foot-4 rookie Devin Funchess slated to work opposite him.

Coach Ron Rivera expects Benjamin (hamstring) to be full-go once training camp opens on July 30, NFL.com reports.
A pair of separate hamstring injuries slowed Benjamin during the Panthers' offseason workouts, but the second-year wideout should be good to go for training camp, at which point we'll have to see what his conditioning level is after having reported to the team's OTAs eight-to-nine pounds overweight. As a rookie, Benjamin recorded 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games. This season, he's locked in as a starting receiver for the Panthers, with 6-foot-4 rookie Devin Funchess now slated to work opposite Benjamin.
Thu Jun 18 201509:30Benjamin (hamstring) sat out Thursday's practice
Benjamin (hamstring) sat out Thursday's practice, as expected, Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Benjamin announced Wednesday that his current right hamstring injury would likely keep him out of Thursday's final day of camp, so his absence comes as no surprise. The 6-foot-5 wideout apparently arrived at camp nine pounds overweight, which the team suggests may be partially to blame for him suffering two separate hamstring injuries in the final two weeks of minicamp. The team now has a six-week break before training camp opens, which should leave Benjamin with plenty of time to get in shape and overcome this minor ailment.

Benjamin missed Wednesday's minicamp practice due to a right hamstring strain, the Associated Press reports.
Previously, Benjamin was afflicted by left hamstring issues during OTAs, missing a handful of practices. The recurring hamstring injuries are something to keep in mind when preparing for upcoming drafts, but the receiver expects to be healthy when training camp kicks off in late July. No matter, his status as Cam Newton's primary receiving threat outside of Greg Olsen sustains Benjamin's value, as he prepares for his sophomore season.
Thu Jun 11 201512:37Benjamin (hamstring) returned to practice on Thursday
Benjamin (hamstring) returned to practice on Thursday, David Newton of ESPN reports.
Benjamin had been nursing a hamstring injury since the start of OTAs, and while his return is encouraging, it is likely the Panther's limit their star wide receiver's workload as a precautionary measure. Nevertheless, assuming Benjamin enters the season healthy, he will be looking to build on a very promising rookie campaign.
Mon Jun 8 201514:04Benjamin (hamstring) expected to return to practice this week
Benjamin (hamstring) is expected to return to practice this week, Panthers writer Max Henson reports.
Benjamin has been sidelined throughout Carolina's OTAs thus far due to a hamstring ailment, but coach Ron Rivera expects his promising second-year wideout to be available again this week. While Benjamin's work load will certainly be subject to some monitoring, it's at least encouraging that he'll be able to rejoin his teammates on the field before long.
Thu Jun 4 201511:11Benjamin (hamstring) yet to return to OTA's
Benjamin (hamstring) is yet to return to OTA's, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Benjamin continues to nurse a hamstring injury, and it's now carrying over to the second week of offseason workouts. The team does not believe it's anything that will impact him long-term, however, and he's likely be held out as a precaution more than anything else.

Benjamin (hamstring) did not participate in Thursday's OTA session.
Benjamin continues to work through a hamstring injury suffered a few weeks ago during an offseason workout. The team has not provided a return timetable, but the injury is not considered to be be overly serious and should not impact his availability for training camp or the start of the 2015 season.

Benjamin finished his rookie season with 73 receptions (on 146 targets) for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games played.
Benjamin, the 28th overall pick of last year's draft, paid quick dividends on the Panthers' first-round investment by immediately exhibiting the attributes required to fill Carolina's vacant No. 1 receiver role. In fact, only five players league-wide saw more than Benjamin's 146 targets and his 1,008 receiving yards ranked 20th among wideouts this season. While those are fantastic numbers, especially for a rookie, Benjamin still caught only half of his targets, which shows obvious room for improvement. Should Benjamin become a more consistent pass-catcher in 2015, that refinement coupled with his already gaudy red zone presence could make the 6-5, 240-pound wideout among fantasy's elite players at the position for years to come.

Benjamin caught seven passes on 10 targets for 75 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's Divisional Round loss to the Seahawks.
Benjamin put the Panthers on the board with his seven-yard touchdown grab halfway through the second quarter and Cam Newton found him again in the fourth, though the game was already decided. Although Benjamin finished the regular season with just one touchdown in his final five games, he hit pay dirt nine times as a rookie (not including the postseason) and established himself as a legitimate No. 1 option heading into 2015.

Benjamin caught four passes for 33 yards against Arizona on Saturday.
What's been the case with Benjamin his whole career remained the same Saturday -- his unparalleled size allowed him to bully Patrick Peterson for a few catches, but inconsistency cost him production in other instances. To Benjamin's credit, his numbers are at least decent when you consider that Cam Newton was highly ineffective as a passer Saturday. ALong with Greg Olsen, Benjamin will remain the co-lead target for Newton in the next round.

Benjamin caught just 1-of-5 targets for nine yards in Sunday's 34-3 win at Atlanta.
The Panthers controlled the game early, so Cam Netwon attempted just 16 passes, but Benjamin still led the team in targets. Even though it was Benjamin's worst game of the season from a statistical standpoint, he finished his rookie campaign with solid numbers, catching 73 passes for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns. He'll look to bounce back in the first round of the playoffs, as Carolina will host Arizona.

Benjamin had five catches on 12 targets for 47 yards Sunday against the Browns.
The Panthers' passing attack was hardly prolific Sunday, and running back Jonathan Stewart caught quarterback Cam Newton's lone touchdown pass. However, Benjamin continues to be the most popular receiving option, as his 12 targets were more than double any other player. Up next is a Week 17 matchup against a Falcons defense that is allowing the most passing yards per game this season, with the winner of the game taking home the NFC South title.

Benjamin had eight catches on 13 targets for 104 yards Sunday against Tampa Bay.
Benjamin has had two of his best games this season against the Buccaneers, as he caught six passes on eight targets for 92 yards and a touchdown against them back in Week 1. Both of those games also came with Derek Anderson under center, as he started Sunday's game in place of Cam Newton, who suffered two broken bones in his back during a car accident Tuesday. It's unclear who will start in Week 16 against the Browns, though Benjamin could have a tough time if he draws Joe Haden throughout the game.
