Mon Oct 12 201512:09Grimes (knee) not participating in Monday's practice
Grimes (knee) is not participating in Monday's practice, The Miami Herald reports.
Grimes sprained his MCL during the Dolphins' Week 4 game in London, but fortunately had the team's subsequent bye week to get treatment and rest the injury. Nonetheless, as Miami returns to practice Monday, Grimes remains sidelined, making his status one to monitor as this Sunday's matchup against the Titans approaches.
Wed Oct 7 201517:39Grimes (knee) will not practice Wednesday
Grimes (knee) will not practice Wednesday, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
Grimes sprained his MCL during Sunday's London loss to the Dolphins. The 32-year-old cornerback has started every game for Miami since signing with the team back in 2013, but that streak appears to be in jeopardy with Wednesday's latest practice designation. More information should be available later in the week, however if Grimes is unable to go Jamar Taylor could get the start in his place.
Sun Oct 4 201512:15Brent Grimes: Out remainder of Week 4
Grimes (knee) has been ruled out the remainder of Sunday's game against the Jets Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
With the Dolphins trailing big late in the game, it's not likely the Jets will be throwing much the rest of the way. Hpwever, Zach Bowman is taking over for Grimes.

In the first year of his multi-year contract Grimes proved to be worth the money with 57 tackles and five interceptions.
Grimes may not be the true definition of a lock down corner but he's pretty close and by far the best of what Miami has at the position. He will go into the 2015 season as their top cornerback once again.
Mon Mar 3 201410:07Fins re-sign Grimes, keep top CB off market
Dolphins re-signed CB Brent Grimes.
No financial details are available just yet, but Grimes won't be hitting the market come March 11. It's a major score for new Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey, who retains a shutdown corner one year after Jeff Ireland traded Vontae Davis away. Grimes was PFF's No. 2 corner last season and Davis was No. 3. We're expecting a short-term deal thanks to Grimes' age (he'll turn 31 in July), but it will be lucrative and contain plenty of guaranteed cash.

Sun Mar 2 201422:26Report: Fins not expected to tag Brent Grimes
A league source tells Profootballtalk.com that the Dolphins are not expected to place the franchise tag on free agent CB Brent Grimes before Monday's 4PM ET deadline.
PFT reports, however, that "it's currently believed to be more likely than not" that Grimes is re-signed by Miami. In other words, it sounds like the sides are in the midst of positive multi-year contract talks. By avoiding using the $11.834 million tag on Grimes, the Dolphins would save salary cap space as well as retain arguably their best defensive player from last season. It would be a positive first move by rookie GM Dennis Hickey.

Thu Feb 27 201417:25Dolphins 'optimistic' they'll keep Grimes
GM Dennis Hickey is "optimistic" the Dolphins will re-sign free agent Brent Grimes.
Hickey's comments come three days after Grimes said he was "pretty optimistic" he'd be back. The Miami Herald reported earlier this week that talks were going in circles, but where there's a will, there's usually a way. The market's top corner has an excellent shot at staying in Miami.

Tue Feb 25 201416:18Report: Grimes talks w/ Dolphins moving slow
The Miami Herald terms free agent Brent Grimes' contract talks with the Dolphins as "ongoing and ongoing and ongoing."
In other words, the sides are going in circles. Grimes said Monday he's "pretty optimistic" he'll re-sign with the Dolphins, but it sounds like there's plenty of work to do before March 11. A priority for Miami, Grimes would have a strong claim to "top corner available" if he reaches the open market.

Mon Feb 24 201416:10Grimes 'pretty optimistic' about Miami deal
Free agent CB Brent Grimes is "pretty optimistic" he'll re-sign with the Dolphins.
"They said they like me here and want to have me back," Grimes said. "Hopefully, it happens sooner than later, and I don't have to worry about it." Grimes said the sides haven't discussed the franchise tag. Rotoworld's top ranked free-agent corner, Grimes checks in at No. 8 overall on Evan Silva's Free Agent Top 150.

Fri Feb 21 201410:23Fins not expected to tag CB Brent Grimes
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the franchise tag is not a realistic option for free agent CB Brent Grimes.
Tagging Grimes would cost the Dolphins $11.3 million. Grimes will turn 31 in July and wants no part of the franchise tag in an effort to land one more long-term, big-money deal, as he's coming off one of the best seasons of his career. The Dolphins can't afford to lose Grimes. He was arguably their best defensive player in 2013 and is our No. 1 free-agent corner.

Mon Feb 10 201419:14Grimes still does not want to be tagged
Impending free agent Brent Grimes said neither he nor the Dolphins want to use the franchise tag.
An extension makes sense for both parties. The soon-to-be 31 Grimes would get the multi-year security he is looking for, and the Dolphins could lock up the talented corner for multiple years in a cap-friendly deal.

Wed Jan 15 201414:16Dolphins likely to bring back Brent Grimes?
The Miami Herald expects the Dolphins to retain impending free agent Brent Grimes, either via a multi-year deal or the franchise tag.
Grimes has said he doesn't want to be franchise tagged, but it would make a lot of sense for the Dolphins if a reasonable extension can't be hammered out. Going on 31, Grimes is unlikely to be reasonable as he pursues what could be his last big payday. A lucrative two-year deal that includes at least some guaranteed money in 2015 could make the most sense for both sides.

Tue Dec 17 201313:23Trio of Dolphins defenders practices Tuesday
Dolphins LCB Brent Grimes (groin), NT Paul Soliai (ankle) and RCB Nolan Carroll (knee) all participated in the portion of Tuesday's practice open to the media.
Miami got majorly banged up in Sunday's win over the Patriots, but appears to have avoided serious injury with all three of its critical defenders. Grimes has already insisted he's "fine," and hinted he'll suit up for Week 16 against the Bills.

Sun Dec 15 201317:20Brent Grimes 'fine' after groin injury
Dolphins LCB Brent Grimes says he's "fine" after missing the end of Sunday's win over the Patriots with a groin injury.
It appears Grimes' fourth-quarter removal was precautionary, though it's still a concern he wasn't able to play on the final few series in a white-knuckle, must-win game for the Dolphins. Grimes should be considered questionable for Week 16 until further notice.

Sun Dec 15 201315:50Brent Grimes leaves game w/ undisclosed inj.
Dolphins LCB Brent Grimes was forced from Miami's Week 15 game against the Patriots with an undisclosed injury.
Grimes was never announced with an injury, but missed a majority of the fourth quarter. With Nolan Carroll (knee) also sidelined, Miami got absolutely picked apart by Tom Brady. Grimes was spotted walking around on the sideline, so he appears to have avoided a truly serious injury.

Sun Jul 21 201311:45Brent Grimes a full participant at Fins camp
Dolphins LCB Brent Grimes was a full participant at the first practice of training camp Sunday.
After missing all of 2012 with a torn Achilles' tendon, Grimes is all systems go and that's terrific news for Miami's secondary. Richard Marshall is running as the first-team right corner. Dimitri Patterson is the slot cornerback.

Tue Jul 9 201322:43Brent Grimes turned heads in Dolphins OTAs
According to the Miami Herald, "nobody was more impressive" in Dolphins OTAs than Brent Grimes, who reportedly showed "no ill effects" from his torn Achilles' tendon.

Mon Jun 3 201312:56Grimes (Achilles') says he's 'fully back'
Dolphins CB Brent Grimes says he's "fully back" from his torn Achilles' tendon.
Grimes is confirming what the Miami Herald reported late last month. The Dolphins can only hope it's an accurate assessment, as they'll be in major trouble if Grimes doesn't return to at least some approximation of his pre-injury form. GM Jeff Ireland's extravagantly-expensive masterplan has little room for error, and will depend on extremely good injury fortune.

Fri May 24 201314:07Brent Grimes working with first team at OTAs
Dolphins CB Brent Grimes (Achilles' surgery) is working with the first-team defense at OTAs.
Per the Miami Herald, Grimes is "looking fully recovered," despite getting beat on a deep bomb by Armon Binns. He's manning left corner with Richard Marshall stationed on the right. Rookie Jamar Taylor will compete for nickel duties once he's recovered from sports hernia surgery. The Dolphins will have more talent in their secondary this year, but the group is littered with question marks.
