Tue Mar 15 2011 | 05:43 | Iorg to play in the majors 'if the bat comes' |
Tigers Manager Jim Leyland stated that Cale Iorg has a bright future in the majors if his hitting improves. |
This could be a tall order for Iorg, who has a rich baseball pedigree (his father and uncle were major leaguers) but a poor batting history (.228/.283/.358 career minor league hitter). The 25-year-old likely will start the season at Triple-A Toledo. |

Fri Nov 19 2010 | 10:39 | Tigers add Cale Iorg from Triple-A Toledo |
Tigers purchased the contract of SS Cale Iorg from Triple-A Toledo. |
Iorg has never finished a season with an OPS better than 734 and projects only as a backup utility infielder. Still, the Tigers wanted to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft. He batted .242/.271/.409 with one home run and nine RBI in 70 plate appearances this year at Triple-A Toledo. |
