Tue Sep 1721:52Jordan Westburg "Getting Really Close"
Baltimore Orioles general manager Mike Elias said that infielder Jordan Westburg (hand) took batting practice on the field on Tuesday and is "getting really close to returning by the end of the regular season." Infielder Ramon Urias (ankle) is on a similar timeline. Westburg is recovering from a fractured right hand, but the team isn't ruling him out to play in a minor-league rehab game before Triple-A Norfolk's season ends on Sunday. Barring a setback, the 25-year-old should be back with the O's for the final week of the regular season and for the start of the playoffs in October. It's great news for a Baltimore club that has been going with a combination of struggling rookie Coby Mayo and Emmanuel Rivera at the hot corner of late with both Westburg and Urias sidelined. Westburg had 18 homers in 101 games before his injury and should be the club's primary third baseman once he's activated.

Fri Sep 1320:14Jordan Westburg Hitting In The Cages
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hand) is now hitting in the batting cages and has progressed from taking dry swings earlier in the week. He is doing full baseball activities, according to manager Brandon Hyde. The focus now is "building strength" in Westburg's hand/wrist. The Orioles could really use the 25-year-old back as their primary third baseman, especially with Ramon Urias (ankle) also on the shelf. He has been out since late July with a fractured hand but appears to be tracking towards a return later this month. At the very least, Baltimore will be hoping to have Westburg available for the playoffs. Westburg has provided 18 home runs and 58 RBI in his 420 plate appearances in 2024 before his injury. In the meantime, struggling rookie Coby Mayo and Emmanuel Rivera figure to continue splitting time at third base.

Mon Sep 921:58Jordan Westburg Fields Grounders On Monday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hand), who is recovering from a fractured right hand, was fielding grounders on Monday before the team's game at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. Westburg was not wearing anything on his right hand for protection. The 25-year-old infielder is getting closer to a return from the 10-day injured list now that he's doing some light baseball activities, but there remains no timetable for his return. He has been sidelined since July 31, so we'd expect the Orioles to send Westburg on a minor-league rehab assignment before he's activated, meaning it could be another week or two before he's ready. Westburg made his first All-Star team in 2024 and is just two homers shy of his 20-homer campaign. With Ramon Urias (ankle) also on the IL, rookie infielder Coby Mayo is getting a shot at the hot corner down the stretch for Baltimore.

Tue Aug 2021:40Jordan Westburg Resumes Baseball Activities
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hand) has resumes baseball activities, including fielding ground balls while stationary and taking one-handed swings with his left arm. Westburg is recovering from a fractured right hand, but he remains unsure if he'll be able to return to the O's before the end of the regular season. With that said, there is still no concrete timetable for the All-Star infielder's return, and he may not be able to make much of an impact for fantasy managers again in 2024 by the time he's ready to ramp up his activity. Top prospect Jackson Holliday remains worth holding through his ups and downs as Baltimore's everyday second baseman in the absence of Westburg.

Thu Aug 113:55Jordan Westburg Placed On The Injured List
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday afternoon with a right-hand fracture. In a corresponding move, the Orioles recalled infielder Livan Soto from Triple-A Norfolk. Westburg left Wednesday's game early after being hit by a pitch in his right hand. Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde expressed after the game that the team hopes to have Westburg back before the end of the season. The 25-year-old was enjoying a nice breakout season, boasting a strong .269/.317/.497 line with 18 home runs and six stolen bases. Under the hood, he carried a 47.0% hard-hit rate and 12.3% barrel rate, which are among the best marks in the sport. While sidelined, fantasy managers should expect top prospect Jackson Holliday to cover the keystone while Ramon Urias holds down the hot corner.

Wed Jul 3116:30Jordan Westburg Diagnosed With Hand Fracture
Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hand) has been diagnosed with a right-hand fracture after being hit by a pitch in Wednesday's win over the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays, according to manager Brandon Hyde. The Orioles are hoping Westburg will be back by the end of the regular season. Even if the 25-year-old returns late in the regular season, he'll have little time to produce for fantasy managers. It's a big blow for the O's and fantasy managers, as Westburg came into Wednesday's contest with a .271/.317/.500 slash line with an .817 OPS, 18 homers, 58 RBI, 54 runs and six stolen bases in 388 at-bats. Baltimore traded infield prospect Connor Norby to the Marlins on Tuesday, so Coby Mayo, their No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will now be in consideration to join the big-league roster.

Wed Jul 3114:38Jordan Westburg Leaves After Hit-By-Pitch
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (wrist) left Wednesday's contest early against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays after being hit in the wrist on a 95 mph fastball by pitcher Yerry Rodriguez in the fifth inning. Westburg was in some pain but initially stayed in the game before being pulled a half-inning later and replaced by Ramon Urias at third base. Before departing, Westburg went 0-for-2 with a run scored at Camden Yards. The 25-year-old will likely go for X-rays on his wrist. Until we know more, consider him to be day-to-day. Even if Westburg avoids a serious injury, he's unlikely to be active for Thursday's series opener in Cleveland against the Guardians. And if Westburg requires an extended absence, Urias will benefit from regular playing time at third base in Baltimore. Westburg came into Wednesday's series finale with 18 homers, 58 RBI, six steals and 54 runs in 388 at-bats.

Sat Jul 2714:52Jordan Westburg Getting A Breather Saturday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the visiting San Diego Padres. The former top prospect and 2024 All-Star slugged a homer and drew a walk in his four trips to the plate in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Padres and will give way to Ramon Urias at the hot corner on Saturday. The 25-year-old has busted out with a .267 average, 17 homers, six stolen bases, and an .805 OPS across 96 appearances on the season, production that grades out 27% above the league average, as per his 127 wRC+. Fantasy managers who either drafted him late or perhaps nabbed him off the waiver wire early in the season have to be pleased with the investment at a cheap rate.

Sat Jul 2023:51Jordan Westburg Tallies Three Hits, Two RBI On Saturday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg went 3-for-5 with two singles, a home run, and two RBI to lead the Orioles to a victory on Saturday evening. Westburg launched a two-run shot in the sixth frame which was his 16th of the campaign to score Ryan O'Hearn. Through 91 games this season, the 25-year-old has posted an excellent .273/.318/.500 line with 52 RBI and six stolen bases. Under the hood, the Mississippi State product holds an 11.7% barrel rate, 47.0% hard-hit rate and 91.3 mph average exit velocity, which are all significantly above average among qualified hitters. Westburg should remain in all fantasy lineups and is always worth considering in DFS, as he will have plenty of scoring opportunities batting in the heart of a dominant Baltimore lineup.

Fri Jun 2816:43Jordan Westburg Out Of Baltimore's Lineup
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg will not play on Friday for the second game of the series against the visiting Texas Rangers. Westburg will take a seat after starting in each of the team's last eight games. He'll make way for Jorge Mateo at second base, while Ramon Urias starts at the hot corner. Mateo is hitting eighth and Urias is in the six-hole against Rangers right-hander Max Scherzer. Mateo is hitless in just one career at-bat against Scherzer, while Urias has never faced him. Westburg has been a lineup regular in a potent Orioles batting order all year and has been very productive, hitting .286 (82-for-287) with 13 home runs, 48 RBI, six stolen bases and 40 runs scored for Baltimore. The 25-year-old should return to Saturday's starting lineup.

Thu Jun 2016:09Jordan Westburg Back For Thursday's Series Finale
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hip) is back in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale in the Bronx against the division-rival New York Yankees and right-hander Luis Gil, playing second base and batting sixth in the order. Ramon Urias will get another start at third base and will bat out of the nine-hole. Westburg bruised his left hip in Tuesday's game and missed the contest on Wednesday. The 25-year-old has been a lineup regular for the O's this year at either second or third base, and he's hitting a useful .277/.331/.502 with an .833 OPS, 11 home runs, 42 RBI, six stolen bases and 37 runs scored in 253 at-bats in a strong Orioles lineup. He's cooled off a bit in June, though, going 15-for-64 (.234) with three homers, three doubles, two triples, eight RBI, one steal and 14 strikeouts in 16 games.

Sat Jun 806:36Jordan Westburg Homers Friday
Baltimore Orioles second baseman Jordan Westburg had a strong night at the plate in his team's 6-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Westburg went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in the winning effort. The 25-year-old's two-run homer in the eighth inning traveled 369 feet and had an exit velocity of 101 MPH. Westburg is now hitting .280 with 10 homers, 32 runs, 38 RBI, and six steals across 218 at-bats for the O's in 2024. His power production this season has been a pleasant surprise after he hit just three homers in 208 at-bats last season as a rookie. Westburg is worth a spot in starting lineups in deeper fantasy leagues moving forward.

Sat Jun 112:28Jordan Westburg Returns Against Rays
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hand) is back at third base and is batting seventh for the O's on Saturday against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Taj Bradley. Westburg draws back into Baltimore's starting lineup after missing the last two games with a hand injury after he was hit by a pitch on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox. The 25-year-old will be looking to extend his hitting streak to six games now that he's back in there. The former 30th overall pick in 2020 out of Mississippi State has gone 8-for-18 (.444) with a homer, two doubles, five RBI, two walks and five strikeouts during his modest five-game hitting streak. His lineup spot doesn't scream daily upside, but Westburg has been solid with the bat in 2024, slashing .291/.351/.508 with an .859 OPS, eight homers, 34 RBI and five swipes in a loaded Orioles lineup.

Fri May 3116:16Jordan Westburg Remains Out Friday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hand) remains out of the team's starting lineup on Friday against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays after he was hit by a pitch on the right hand/wrist area on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox. Westburg is considered day-to-day going into the weekend after X-rays on his hand/wrist came back negative, and he could return to action as soon as the second game of the series on Saturday. With the 25-year-old missing his second straight game, Ramon Urias will man the hot corner and bat eighth in the lineup against Rays right-hander Aaron Civale. Urias hit just his second home run of the season in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox but remains a low-upside DFS play at the bottom of Baltimore's batting order. Westburg has been a lineup staple for the O's in 2024 and is currently slashing .291/.351/.508 with an .859 OPS with eight homers, 34 RBI and five thefts.

Wed May 2916:03X-Rays Negative On Jordan Westburg, Not In Lineup Wednesday
While X-rays on Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg's right hand/wrist came back negative, he is not in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday against the visiting Boston Red Sox. Fantasy managers will need to remove Westburg from their starting lineups on Wednesday, but he's feeling a lot better and should have a good chance to return for Friday's series opener against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays after a scheduled off day on Thursday. The 25-year-old was hit in the right hand by a pitch in Tuesday's loss to Boston and should be considered day-to-day for now. Ramon Urias is at third base for the O's on Wednesday and will bat eighth against Red Sox right-hander Kutter Crawford. Urias will be a poor choice for DFS lineups in the eight-hole while also coming into Wednesday's game with a .194 average and just one homer in 62 at-bats this year.

Sat May 2520:49Jordan Westburg Helps Orioles Seal Comeback Win Vs. White Sox
Baltimore Orioles infielderJordan Westburglaunched a solo home run in the eighth inning to help seal the comeback victory on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox. Trailing 3-0 in the game, the Baltimore bats exploded for a five-run inning capped off by Westburg's solo shot with two outs. While the Orioles were held in check most of the afternoon, Westburg kept the O's offense rolling, going 3-for-4 along with the HR, RBI, and run scored. Westburg was having a rough week at the plate, coming into the game with a .154 average over the last seven days before his Memorial Day Weekend bash. Overall, this year, Westburg has enjoyed a rotisserie-friendly sophomore season and is now up to a .285 batting average with eight homers and 31 RBI in 48 games; the power is a very nice surprise after only three home runs in 68 games in 2023.

Mon Apr 2916:00Jordan Westburg Returns From Illness
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (illness) is back in the starting lineup on Monday against the visiting New York Yankees after missing the series finale on Sunday against the Oakland Athletics with a stomach illness. Westburg is starting at second base and batting seventh against Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt. Fantasy managers will want to get the 25-year-old back into all starting fantasy lineups, as he's hit a strong .304/.360/.543 on the year with a .903 OPS, five home runs, 19 RBI and four stolen bases in 92 at-bats over his first 25 games played. Westburg isn't as attractive in DFS formats in the seven-hole. He has one hit in his two career at-bats against Schmidt.

Baltimore Orioles third baseman Jordan Westburg was mashing again on Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a homer and a triple in a 5-0 win over the Kansas City Royals. Westburg added a walk, a run scored, and two RBI to round out his line. The 25-year-old seems to be breaking out this season, slashing .333/.392/.639 with 14 runs, five homers, 18 RBI, and three steals. He has five-category upside and should be rostered in all leagues at this point.

Wed Apr 1709:46Jordan Westburg Continues To Ascend
Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg continued his strong season on Tuesday versus the Minnesota Twins. Westburg went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the team's victory. Westburg has quietly been putting up very solid numbers for a strong Orioles offense, but has been overlooked with so much star power in the lineup. On the season, Westburg is hitting .316 with four homers, 14 RBI and two stolen bases. As part of one of the best lineups in the league, Westburg should be rostered in most formats with his ability to help across the board.
