Fri Sep 1321:22Gavin Stone To Start Throwing Program This Weekend
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone (shoulder) is expected to start his throwing program this weekend as he rehabs from shoulder inflammation. Stone was placed on the 15-day IL last Friday, putting him in a good spot to make a return for the Dodgers' playoff run. Stone was in the midst of a very solid rookie campaign, pitching to a 3.53 ERA and posting an 11-5 record in 25 starts. With as many injuries as the Dodgers have sustained over the past couple seasons, Stone's consistency was very welcome in their rotation. His return will help support the Dodgers in October. Fantasy managers shouldn't plan on the 25-year-old returning during the regular season. Any fantasy managers in need of starting pitching help to finish the season should turn to Landon Knack. Knack had posted a 3.00 ERA in 54 IP coming into Friday night.

Fri Sep 621:20Gavin Stone Placed On 15-Day IL With Right Shoulder Inflammation
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone was placed on the 15-Day IL on Friday with right shoulder inflammation. Andrew Friedman, Dodgers president of operations, said that the plan for Stone would be for him to be shut down for about 10 days and then see how Stone feels before taking the next steps. The 25-year-old hitting the IL is yet another blow to a Dodgers rotation that simply cannot find a way to stay healthy. The rookie's 3.53 ERA was a pleasant surprise to the bruised and battered Dodgers pitching staff, keeping them in games and helping keep them atop the NL West with an 11-5 record. At this point in the season fantasy managers should prepare for Stone to be out until the playoffs, negating his fantasy value in 2024. Those looking for starting pitching help from the Dodgers likely can only choose from Walker Buehler or Bobby Miller, neither of which have provided any sort of fantasy value in 2024 and are likely best left on the waiver wire.

Fri Sep 620:51Dodgers Place Gavin Stone On 15-Day Injured List
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed right-hander Gavin Stone (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with right-shoulder inflammation and recalled right-hander Landon Knack and left-hander Justin Wrobleski from the minors in corresponding moves. Right-hander Michael Petersen was also optioned. In his last start last weekend against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, Stone gave up five earned runs on five hits while striking out four in five innings of work. There's a chance that the 25-year-old could miss the rest of the 2024 regular season, and it remains to be seen if he'll be an option for the Dodgers' rotation in the postseason. Knack is making the start for the Blue on Friday at Dodger Stadium against the visiting Cleveland Guardians, with Wrobleski likely to start on Saturday. In his first full season in the majors in 2024, Stone has gone 11-5 with a 3.53 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP and 116 K's in 25 starts.

Sun Aug 2523:44Gavin Stone Looks Great Again
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone had another very good outing on Sunday, tossing seven innings of one-run ball against the Tampa Bay Rays. Stone recorded seven strikeouts while allowing just three hits and two walks. After a rough stretch in July and early August, Stone has turned things around in his last three starts, allowing just two runs over 19 IP. He's been a bit confounding this year, as his stuff and underlying metrics don't really support the good numbers, but there is no doubt he's been a solid fantasy pitcher. It is worth noting that two of his last three starts came against bad offenses, and he may still have some blowups, but he is verging on must-start status once again.

Tue Aug 2009:07Gavin Stone Fans Career-Best 10
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Gavin Stone limited the Seattle Mariners to two hits while striking out a career-high 10 over seven innings in Monday's 3-0 win. Stone, who improved his record to 11-5, allowed a pair of walks during his 90-pitch gem. He has won his last two decisions after going winless from June 26 to August 13. Stone has a 3.44 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP with 105 strikeouts and 34 walks over 128 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers will get a second start this week from Stone when he faces the visiting Tampa Bay Rays at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.

Thu Jun 2700:35Gavin Stone Dominates White Sox In Shutout
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone dominated on the mound, striking out seven during his complete-game shutout against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. Stone hurled LA's first shutout since Walker Buehler did it back in April 2022, and it was the Dodgers' first from a rookie since back in 2013. The 25-year-old former top prospect is locked into the starting rotation with the team dealing with so many injuries to their pitchers, compiling a 2.73 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 70 punchouts and 20 walks covering 89 innings this year. Stone will look for the 10th win of his breakout campaign when he gets the ball next week in a matchup against the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks at Chavez Ravine.

Wed May 2900:54Gavin Stone Records Seven Scoreless Innings, Earns Fifth Win Tuesday Night
Los Angeles Dodgers rookie starting pitcher Gavin Stone (5-2) hurled seven scoreless innings, only allowing three hits and recording seven strikeouts in a 3-0 win versus the New York Mets Tuesday night. After having a rough April with a 4.50 ERA, the 25-year-old right-hander has been spectacular in May with a 1.97 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. He also added three wins to his total in May while recording four quality starts in five games. Stone will look to keep things going in his next scheduled start next Wednesday (June 5) against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Wed May 818:48Gavin Stone Sharp On Wednesday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone made easy work of the Miami Marlins lineup on Wednesday. The right-hander threw seven strong innings while allowing only one run in the win. Stone gave up a solo blast to Bryan De La Cruz in the fourth inning, but he was excellent outside of that. The 25-year-old holds a 3.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 27/13 K/BB ratio across 38 innings this season. He'll get a tougher matchup versus the San Francisco Giants during his next start.

Fri May 314:51Gavin Stone To Battle Tough Braves On Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Gavin Stone has a tough matchup on his hands on Friday as he takes the mound for a start against the high-octane Atlanta Braves. The 25-year-old has had an uneven start to this season that includes a 4.68 ERA through five starts but was excellent his last time out when he tossed seven innings of one-run ball with just two hits and two walks allowed in a win over the Toronto Blue Jays. However, Stone has just 18 strikeouts and 12 walks surrendered in his 25 innings of work on the season after striking out just 22 across 31 innings in his debut last season. Fantasy managers will continue to look for more punchouts from the righty after posting big-time strikeout totals in his minor-league tenure.

Sun Apr 1409:27Gavin Stone Records First Win Of 2024
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone picked up the win in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Padres. Stone threw six-and-two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out four. All of the hits and the walk came after the sixth inning as the 25-year-old twirled five perfect innings before that. He'll look to build on this outing, and now has a 6.14 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and a 15:5 K:BB on the season. The Dodgers will need him to step up with news that Bobby Miller will hit the IL. The righty's next start lines up with the Mets next week in L.A.

Mon Mar 1810:09Gavin Stone Named Fifth Starter
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has named starting pitcher Gavin Stone the teams No. 5 starter to enter the 2024 season. Stone, 25, has been a top pitching prospect for the Dodgers over the past few seasons and had a dominate Cactus League to secure the fifth spot in the Dodgers rotation. Over 9 2/3 innings, Stone struck out nine with one walk and one run allowed. Stone made his big-league debut this past season and struggled with a 9.00 ERA, 22 strikeouts and 13 walks in 31 innings over eight outings (four starts). Despite his rough debut in 2023, Stone worked hard this offseason to improve his pitch mix and even gained around 10-15 pounds. The sample size is small, but his spring results are eye popping. On one of the best teams in the league, Stone should be able to provide managers with plenty of victories to go along with strikeouts. With an ADP of 367, Stone should be around for managers in the deepest of leagues and is well worth the gamble with his big upside at a low cost.

Sun Mar 1010:09Gavin Stone Front Runner For No. 5 Role
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone appears to have a leg up on the fifth rotation spot after manager Dave Roberts announced that fellow starter Emmet Sheehan would start the season on the IL. Michael Grove could be in the mix as well. As for Stone, he pitched well in the minors up through the 2022 season, but in 2023 he had a 4.74 ERA and 17.2% K-BB% across 19 Triple-A starts, and wasn't particularly effective in his four MLB starts either. Nevertheless, there's some value in pitching for the Dodgers who should provide plenty of run support. Stone has made three spring appearances so far (two starts), allowing three hits, one earned run, and one walk while striking out four over five and two-thirds innings pitched (1.59 ERA).
