Feliz gave up one run on two hits and a walk over one inning Tuesday against the Royals in a non-save situation.
He came into a tie game in the ninth inning and gave up the lead, but the Rangers then evened the score in the bottom of the ninth only to lose in extra innings. Prior to Tuesday's outing Feliz had notched saves in each of his last three appearances, so he should still be the Rangers' closer going forward.

Feliz struck out two in a perfect ninth to pick up his fourth save in Thursday's win over the Rays.
Feliz is off to a rocky start, with a 4.38 ERA and two blown saves in six chances, but he was perfect Thursday as he was in his previous outing Monday. The 27-year-old hasn't given up a run in his last three outings, and his role as the Rangers' closer is secure.

Feliz needed just 11 pitches to retire three Houston batters in picking up the save Monday.
Feliz fanned two in the process, and it was a nice bounce-back effort after Feliz blew the save Friday night against the A's.

Feliz blew a save, allowing one run on two hits while retiring just one batter as the A's came from behind to defeat Texas 7-5 on Friday night.
Feliz has been shaky this season with two blown saves and a 5.79 ERA, but this was not your typical save opportunity. Leading 5-0 heading into the top of the eighth, two Rangers relievers allowed Oakland back in the game and Feliz allowed in an inherited runner and the last of seven runs in the inning.

Feliz picked up his first win of the season on Sunday against the Angels, allowing a run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts over two innings.
Entering a tie game, Feliz breezed through the 10th inning and battled through some trouble in the 11th to close the game out after the Rangers had taken the lead. The four strikeouts were a positive sign, but Feliz's low usage thus far and his less than ideal ratios left a lot to be desired by his owners.

Feliz recorded his first save of the season Tuesday in a win against the Athletics, striking out one batter and only needing 11 pitches.
Feliz is the clear-cut closer for the Rangers for now, but it will be important to monitor his performance going forward. The right-hander had some well-documented velocity issues last year and had played a combined 44 games in his previous three seasons.

Feliz reached 95 mph in his appearance Sunday and has yet to allow a run in four appearances this spring, the team's web site reports.
Feliz doesn't have the flashy peripherals he did five years ago, but the increased velocity this spring from what he showed last September does bode well for a nice bounce-back season.
Thu Jan 15 201516:29Feliz and Rangers agreed to one-year
Feliz and the Rangers agreed to a one-year, $4.125 million contract to avoid arbitration, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Feliz figures to open 2015 as the Rangers' closer, but while he posted an 1.99 ERA over 31.2 innings last year, he managed a strikeout rate of just 17.2 percent. His velocity was way down from its 2010 peak, so it would be wise to keep an eye on spring training reports.

Feliz was unavailable out of the bullpen Tuesday, and Neal Cotts logged the save for the Rangers against the Astros.
Feliz threw 31 pitches over the previous two days, so the Rangers gave him the night off, but he should available for the next Rangers save that presents itself.

Feliz secured his 10th save of the year after throwing a perfect ninth inning Tuesday against the A's.
Feliz has not allowed a run in his last eight appearances, while allowing just six hits in his last 7.1 innings. He now has a solid 2.28 ERA and 0.98 WHIP, but just a mediocre 17:9 K:BB in 27.2 innings this year.

Feliz turned in a perfect ninth inning to record his ninth save in the Rangers' 2-1 win over Atlanta on Friday night.
He needed just 10 pitches (seven for strikes) to retire the side, including one via strikeout. He has had his shaky moments since moving into the closer's role but has been able to maintain a respectable 2.36 ERA.

Feliz earned his seventh save of the season Monday while giving up a hit in a 2-0 win over the Mariners.
Feliz is 7-for-8 in save opportunities, but the lack of strikeouts and velocity lost after coming back from Tommy John surgery is a little worrisome for a closer.

Feliz nearly blew the save Wednesday against Miami, giving up two solo home runs and walk while striking out two.
Feliz came in with the Rangers up three but a one-out home run by Jared Saltalamacchia followed a lead off home run by Marcell Ozuna to bring the Marlins within one. After walking Christian Yelich, Feliz got Donovan Solano swinging to escape with the win.

Feliz struck out both batters he faced Wednesday to earn his fourth save of the season.
Following a hiccup in his last appearance Sunday, Feliz settled down and was sitting between 93-95 mph with his fastball. The ninth-inning job in Texas is Feliz's to lose, and he'll need to continue throwing his fastball in the mid-90s in order to push his strikeout rate up from the current 4.5 K/9 mark.

Feliz surrendered two runs to blow a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning of Sunday's game against the Indians.
Feliz carried a 2.03 ERA into the contest, but his 5:4 K:BB through 13.1 innings was rather concerning. While he does own a decent swinging-strike rate (8.9) for the season, his average fastball velocity clocked in at just 91.4 mph in Saturday's game. The Rangers have little to play for and will likely allow Feliz to continue in his role as closer, but this isn't the same guy we saw in 2010 and 2011. And, it's not as if that guy was particularly dominant, as Feliz has never delivered on the promise of his 31-inning 2009 campaign.

Feliz struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to pick up his third save of the season.
Feliz breezed through the ninth, needing just seven pitches (six strikes) to set down the middle of the Yankees' lineup. He's now converted all three save chances since Joakim Soria was traded to the Tigers, but the question is how effective he'll be moving forward. The 26-year-old topped out at 92 mph on Wednesday, a far cry from the mid-to-high 90's he used to throw. His peripherals are also not inspiring (5:4 K:BB), though it's only been 13.1 innings of work. For now, he's locked in as the closer.
Wed Jul 30 201423:06Neftali Feliz records third save
Neftali Feliz picked up save No. 3 with a quick, seven-pitch inning against the Yankees on Wednesday.
Even though he topped out at 92 mph tonight, Feliz struck out Mark Teixeira on three pitches and got Carlos Beltran to hit a first-pitch popup. Chase Headley then got ahold of a slider, but first baseman Adam Rosales went up and made a leaping catch, ending the game. Feliz's stuff still isn't where we'd like, but the results have been excellent so far.

Mon Jul 28 201423:28Neftali Feliz is perfect in save chance
Neftali Feliz pitched a perfect ninth on Monday for his second save since being shifted into the closer's role.
That's the good news. Less encouraging is that Feliz's fastball was coming in at 91 mph after often touching 93-95 mph in his previous couple of appearances. It didn't hurt him, but hopefully, it's not a sign of things to come.

Fri Jul 25 201423:38Neftali Feliz notches first save since 2011
Neftali Feliz notched his first save since 2011 in Friday's win over the Athletics.
Back in the closer role after the Joakim Soria trade, Feliz worked around a hit and a walk to deliver a scoreless ninth inning. The 26-year-old doesn't have the same raw stuff he had prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery, so we're a bit skeptical about his ability to keep the job, but the Rangers don't have much to lose at this point. Pick him up in all formats.

Thu Jul 24 201410:28Feliz expected to take over as Rangers closer
Neftali Feliz is expected to take over as the Rangers' closer in the wake of the Joakim Soria trade.
Soria was dealt to the Tigers on Wednesday night for right-handed pitching prospects Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel. Feliz is still working to regain his dominant raw stuff, but he owns a cool 2.61 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in 10 1/3 innings of relief since rejoining the Rangers' active roster on July 4. The 26-year-old right-hander needs to be owned in all standard fantasy leagues even though his save opportunities may be few and far between for a Rangers team that has clearly mailed it in.
