RHP Trevor May had his scheduled bullpen session pushed back to Tuesday after he did some mechanical work on Saturday. If things go well early in the week, May could return to the Twins without a rehab assignment. May has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 10 because of back spasms.

RHP Trevor May was placed on the 15-day disabled list with lower back spasms. May did not pitch between June 2-7 and allowed all three men he faced to reach and eventually score on Thursday. An effective pitcher out of the bullpen for the Twins last season, May has struggled this year with an 0-2 record and 6.08 ERA in 26 2/3 innings.

RHP Trevor May entered after RHP Phil Hughes got pulled -- and following a 21-minute rain delay -- with two on and no outs in the seventh with Minnesota leading Baltimore 2-1. He threw a wild pitch on his second pitch, letting the Orioles tie the game. That frustrated May, who pitched well in the series. "After the first (pitch), I realized it was slick, and my foot slipped a little bit," he said. "I thought I fixed it without throwing a pitch. But that's up to me. If I'm slipping, I have to say something. Unfortunately, I paid for it."
Thu Oct 1 201512:27May (back) available to pitch
May (back) was available to pitch, but did not appear in Wednesday's doubleheader, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
May has struggled with a sore back the past month and it looks like he could appear in a game or two the rest of the season. However, he'll likely be shut down if the Twins are eliminated from the Wild Card race.
Wed Sep 30 201515:00May (back) hopes to return before season ends
May (back) hopes to return before the season ends, but has yet to play catch, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
May would pitch out of the Twins' bullpen when healthy, but that window to return continues to close. The fact that he still can't play catch decreases his chances further, but he hasn't been ruled out for the season yet.
Mon Sep 28 201523:09Trevor May: Still Experiencing Back Issues
May (back) was unavailable in Monday's game, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
May pitched an inning Sunday for the first time in a week, but he simply can't shake this back issue, though it's to his credit that he keeps coming back to the mound instead of just shutting things down while the Twins have been taking aim at a playoff spot in the season's final weeks.

May (back) threw 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts in Sunday's win over Detroit.
May had been out since Sept. 19 with back spasms. His back may continue to give him problems, but it looks like he'll be able to pitch through the issue the final week of the season.
Wed Sep 23 201510:42May unavailable Tuesday due to lower back spasms
May was unavailable Tuesday due to lower back spasms, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
May is day-to-day but he could be wearing down the final two weeks of the season as he missed time last week with a sore hip.

May (hip) threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Angels.
May was unavailable each of the past two days with a lower back and hip issue. It's good to see him throw a scoreless inning as he had been in a slump recently with 6.14 ERA in seven September appearances before Saturday.
Fri Sep 18 201517:23May (hip) expected to be availabe Friday
May (hip) is expected to be availabe Friday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
May was unavailable each of the past two days with a lower back and hip issue, but reported feeling much better Friday. The 25-year-old has thrived since moving to a setup role, but has struggled to a 6.14 ERA in seven September appearances.
Thu Sep 17 201509:30May unavailable Wednesday due to lower back/hip issue
May was unavailable Wednesday due to a lower back/hip issue, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "It just feels a little tweaky on him," manager Paul Molitor said. "I'm hoping it's nothing serious. I'm optimistic. I think he worked through some things today. We'll probably have a better read (Thursday)."
May might not have been available Wednesday after appearing in Tuesday's game. May has thrived since moving to a setup role, but has struggled recently with a 8.44 ERA in his last five outings.

May threw a scoreless eighth inning in Friday's win over Houston to earn his fourth hold and lower his ERA to 3.92.
May has been outstanding since moving to the bullpen as he has a streak of 14 consecutive scoreless appearances in relief (he was scored on in one start), holding opponents to a .152 (7-for-46) batting average in that span with four walks and 19 strikeouts. May is becoming so successful as a setup man, that it's hard to see him moving back to the rotation this season.

May will transition to the bullpen according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
With an excellent start by Tyler Duffey on Saturday and Tommy Milone (flexor strain) set to return from the DL on Sunday, May's appears to be the odd man out of the rotation once more. The 25-year-old spent nearly a month in the bullpen after losing his spot in the rotation due to the return of Ervin Santana, only to make a spot start Friday in which he gave up two runs in three innings of work. May's was terrific during his time in the pen, putting together a 2.51 ERA in 14 innings of work, but he could be back in a starting role if one of the starters succumbs to an injury.

May (8-8) pitched just three innings while taking the loss against the Indians, surrendering two runs on five hits and striking out two.
May was expected to pitch limited innings after working from the bullpen over the past month. He was solid on Friday save for a two-run homer by Giovanny Urshela in the second. With Phil Hughes on the disabled list, May is a good bet to get another start, though he may, again, be limited in how deep he can go.

May will start Friday's game against the Indians but he will be limited to roughly 50 pitches, the Star Tribune's Phil Miller reports.
The Twins had to shake up the rotation with Phil Hughes (back) getting placed on the DL and there not being a designated starter for Saturday's game until Thursday morning, so Friday's contest will amount to a bullpen game. With this in mind, May is a very low-end option in daily leagues Friday, as he is unlikely to pitch five innings and will therefore not qualify for the win. However, May is expected to stick in the rotation for at least another start after Friday's game, so this will not be simply a spot start.

May threw a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the win and improve to 8-7 in Friday's victory over Cleveland. His outing continued to cement his status as Minnesota's primary setup man. "Most likely he is my eighth-inning guy as long as he's available on any given day," manager Paul Molitor told the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
May has a 2.75 ERA in 12.1 innings since moving to the bullpen with a 13:2 K:BB ratio. It looks like he'll bet the top setup man to closer Glen Perkins the rest of the season, but the Twins have said they view him as a starter in the future. Still, continued success in the bullpen could change that outlook.

May threw a scoreless eighth inning to preserve a lead and record his first hold of the season, only for the Twins to lose in the ninth inning Saturday against the Yankees
May's performance is notable as it looks like he may get a shot to take over the eighth inning role as the top set-up man to Glen Perkins. May's scoreless inning also ended a mini slump that saw him give up four runs in his previous three innings.
