Colon will start at second base for the first time this season Thursday afternoon against the Twins.
Colon has yet to log an at-bat in 2015, as Omar Infante has manned the keystone in each of the Royals' first eight games. Look for the 25-year-old to return to the bench when the team begins a three-game series against the Athletics on Friday. Infante's health has held up so far, and until that changes, Colon will likely remain in a reserve role.

Colon finished the spring with a slash line of .304/.418/.413 in 25 games.
Colon had a solid spring, which was apparently enough to earn him a spot on the Opening Day big league roster. He'll serve as the backup option across most of the infield but likely won't contribute enough from that capacity to warrant fantasy consideration in nearly all formats.
Tue Mar 17 201515:25Colon favorite to win backup infielder spot on Royals' bench
Colon is the favorite to win the backup infielder spot on the Royals' bench, the Kansas City Star's Andy McCullough reports.
Colon could hit for a solid average and steal a handful of bases in his limited at-bats, but that's not the kind of production that moves the needle for a part-time player. Should Omar Infante, Alcides Escobar or Mike Moustakas get hurt at some point Colon will be worth a flier in deeper leagues, but for now he can be ignored in most formats.
Tue Oct 21 201412:20Christian Colon: Left Off World Series Roster
Colon was left off the Royals' World Series roster and replaced by Jayson Nix, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Colon scored the winning run in the AL Wild Card Game and appeared in the ninth inning of Game 2 of the ALCS. However, he'll be left off the roster in favor of the veteran Nix, who was not a member of the ALDS or ALCS roster. Colon hit .333 for the Royals this season but appeared in only 21 games, notching 49 plate appearances. With so much on the line at this point, the Royals are likely more comfortable with an extra veteran in the clubhouse.

Colon (finger) drove in the game-tying run with a pinch-hit infield single and came around the score the winning run in the 12th inning of Tuesday's AL Wild Card game against the A's.
Colon followed a one-out triple by Eric Hosmer with a high chopper down the third base line, stole second -- the Royals' seventh stolen base of the night -- and finally scored on a Salvador Perez single to cap off one of the more memorable games in recent years. The 25-year-old Colon suffered a broken middle finger in early September, but he returned for the regular-season finale, collecting two more hits to raise his season line with the big club to .333/.375/.489. He should have a place on the team's ALDS roster.

Colon (finger) played six innings in an instructional league game Thursday, the Associated Press reports.
Although it was in a controlled environment, the live action represents Colon's first since he suffered a broken middle finger on his right hand Sept. 2. Colon racked up two hits but GM Dayton Moore did now comment on how his finger felt afterward, and it's not clear if Colon will be included on the team's postseason roster. The 25-year-old Colon has hit .302/.348/.442 in 20 games with the big club this season.
Mon Sep 22 201419:49Colon (finger) unlikely to play again during regular season
Colon (finger) is unlikely to play again during the regular season, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Colon hit .302 over 43 at-bats before landing on the DL due to a broken finger. He may have been a candidate to challenge Omar Infante for playing time down the stretch, but it seems as if he won't be back this year unless the Royals make the postseason.
Wed Sep 17 201415:46Colon (finger) placed on 15-day DL, retroactive to Sept
Colon (finger) has been placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to Sept. 7, and is eligible to be activated on Sept. 22.
Colon hadn't been cleared to hit as of Tuesday, so it was unlikely he would be able to play before next week. Even though he's eligible to return next week, there's still a solid chance that he won't return this season.
Tue Sep 16 201418:33Colon (finger) has not been cleared to hit
Colon (finger) has not been cleared to hit, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Now two weeks removed from suffering a broken middle finger on his right hand, Colon has been practicing throws but still is not close to 100 percent. A set timetable for Colon's return has not been established, but it seems like a long shot to think he could make it back during the regular season.
Wed Sep 3 201413:15Colon suffered broken middle finger on right hand Tuesday agains...
Colon suffered a broken middle finger on his right hand Tuesday against the Rangers and could be at risk of missing the rest of the season, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Colon was recalled from Double-A Northwest Arkansas prior to Tuesday's game, but saw only one at-bat before his return to the big club turned sour. The Royals were counting on Colon to serve as their top reserve and multiple infield spots, but now that he's likely out of the picture for at least multiple weeks, the onus is on Jayson Nix and Johnny Giavotella to come through as insurance policies.
Sat Aug 30 201412:41Colon optioned to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Saturday
Colon was optioned to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Saturday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Jayson Nix was added to the active roster, a move the Royals had to do or else they would their waiver claim of him from Pittsburgh. Colon has hit an impressive .302/.348/.442 in 19 games with the big club and should return no later than Tuesday, though his opportunities may be scaled back if Omar Infante (shoulder) is healthy by then.

Colon went 3-for-4 with his first steal in the majors and a run scored Thursday against the A's.
THe 25-year-old Colon's off to a rip-roaring start to his MLB career, hitting a cool .385 (10-for-26) with four doubles and a triple thus far. He's continued to show the quality contact skills he's been displaying in the minors for years now. In 86 games with Triple-A Omaha, he walked 30 times while striking out just 29 times, and he put together a .311/.366/.433 line with eight homers and 15 steals in the process. There's sneaky fantasy value here if he can find his way into semi-consistent reps at second and third for the red-hot Royals.
Mon Jul 28 201419:26Christian Colon recalled from Triple-A
Royals recalled INF Christian Colon from Triple-A Omaha.
Colon was up for a cup of coffee earlier this month, picking up four hits in 12 at-bats. He can play all over the infield and should see some starts at third base against left-handed pitching.

Fri Jul 18 201415:02Colon homers twice
Royals prospect INF Christian Colon went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs on Thursday for Triple-A Omaha.
He also tallied three RBI and scored two runs. The game was Colon's second since returning from a brief stint in the major leagues, where he batted .333 with three extra-base hits in six games. On the season, the 25-year-old has batted .297/.358/.403 with 20 extra-base hits (six home runs), 50 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 76 games at Triple-A. He's likely to return to the major leagues at some point during the second half of the season.

Fri Jul 4 201422:31Christian Colon has three hits in victory
Christian Colon had a big night at the plate in Friday's win over the Indians, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored and an RBI.
The rookie infielder got the start at second base in place of the injured Omar Infante, and if he continues to swing the bat well he'll continue to find his way into the lineup on a regular basis.

Sat Jun 14 201411:02Royals prospect Colon with 2 doubles, homer
Royals prospect Christian Colon went 3-for-6 with two doubles and a home run on Friday for Triple-A Omaha.
Colon is hitting .286/.348/.384 for the season, but has gone 7-for-16 with four walks, two doubles, and a home run while playing third base. With the struggles of Mike Moustakas, the Royals could be seeing if the former 4th overall pick could be their third baseman of the future.

Tue Apr 8 201411:36Royals 2B prospect Colon could be called up
Royals second base prospect Christian Colon could be called up if Omar Infante needs to go on the disabled list.
Infante's injury may not require a trip to the disabled list, but if it does Colon could make his major league debut. His only competition is Johnny Giavotella, who has repeatedly struggled during his time in the major leagues. Colon is hitting .235/.316/.353 in Triple-A, but the 2010 first-round pick hit .296/.367/.370 during spring training in 2014.

Royals optioned INF Christian Colon, C Francisco Pena and RHP Michael Mariot to Triple-A Omaha.
Of the trio, only Colon had a legitimate shot at cracking the Opening Day roster. He should get an opportunity with the Royals at some point during the 2014 season.

Sat Mar 8 201421:14Christian Colon plates two in loss to Brewers
Christian Colon went 2-for-3 and drove home a pair of runs in a losing effort against the Brewers in Cactus League play on Saturday.
Colon also doubled and scored a run in the game. The 24-year-old infielder has already proven himself at Triple-A Omaha, and with a strong showing this spring could win a bench spot on the Royals Opening day roster.
