NEW YORK (AP) — New nameplates greeted Yankees players in their clubhouse ahead of the Division Series against Minnesota: "OCTOBER SAVAGES" is spelled out under each number, a reference to manager Aaron Boone's famous tirade at an umpire in July.As players worked out at Yankee Stadium on a summer-like Wednesday, Boone maintained many roster decisions have yet to be made."First, we'll go through the 13th pitcher and then what makes the most sense as far as what gives us the best option off the bench," Boone said before the workout. DETROIT (AP) — Outfielder Mike Tauchman became the New York Yankees' 30th player on the injured list this year, the most in the major leagues in at least 15 years.The 28-year-old strained his left calf Sunday and is expected to miss the rest of the season. New York made the roster move retroactive to MondayAcquired from Colorado on March 23, Tauchman hit .277 with 13 homers in 260 at-bats over 87 games. He is New York's 15th player currently on the IL.Major League Baseball said the Yankees' total on the injured/disabled list is the most since at least 2004, topping the 28 for the Los Angeles Dodgers in both 2016 and 2017. Boston had 27 in 2012.Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton could be nearing a return. He homered in a simulated game at the Yankees minor league complex in Tampa, Florida, and also worked in left field and ran sprints. NEW YORK (AP) — Rain keeps interrupting the New York Yankees' sunny season.The scheduled game between the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays was postponed Wednesday night due to a forecast of thunderstorms and severe weather.Though no showers were falling yet on a humid evening in the Bronx, the game was called about 35 minutes before it was supposed to start — drawing groans from some fans scattered throughout the stands. But less than two hours later, it was pouring at Yankee Stadium as lightning flashed in the sky.The game will be made up Thursday as part of a single-admission doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. After that, Tampa Bay is not scheduled to return to New York this season."Obviously, it kind of stinks. But maybe not the worst thing," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "I kind of like the off day to freshen up the bullpen a little bit."New York leads the AL East by six games over the Rays. TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who has been sidelined since March 31, got nine plate appearances in a simulated game and went through running drills Tuesday at the team's minor league complex in Tampa.Stanton originally strained his left biceps, then his left shoulder. He played in one game for Class A Tampa on May 20, then was told to rest because of left calf tightness.Danny Farquhar, who collapsed in the Chicago White Sox dugout last year because of a ruptured aneurysm and brain hemorrhage and signed a minor league deal with the Yankees in the offseason, and Ben Heller (Tommy John surgery) pitched to Stanton.Stanton also did agility drills and ran the arc behind the infield on the grass, which is normally one of the final steps before starting a minor league rehab assignment.Stanton played catch and fielded grounders in right field with Aaron Judge, who has been sidelined since April 21 by a strained left oblique.Judge did straight line running afterward.___More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

(AP) — New York Yankees third baseman Miguel Andújar played five innings in his first intrasquad game at the team's minor league complex.Andújar has not played for the Yankees since tearing the labrum in his right shoulder while sliding into third base on a pickoff attempt on March 31. He went 2 for 3 Friday with a two-run homer and a walk.Logan Morrison, who signed a minor league deal last week, played five innings at first base.Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, recovering from a strained left calf that has sidelined him since April 3, hit in a simulated game.Right-hander Ben Heller, recovering from Tommy John surgery, is throwing to hitters.
