BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore Orioles reliever Richard Bleier is likely lost for the year with a shoulder injury, yet another setback for the team with the worst record in the major leagues.Bleier (3-0, 1.93 ERA) was the most effective pitcher in a bullpen that only recently got back injured Zach Britton and Darren O'Day.Bleier walked off the mound in pain Wednesday after throwing a seventh-inning pitch against Boston. He has been on the disabled list with right knee inflammation since May 30 and interim manager Jim Riggleman said before Friday night's game against the Pirates that Bailey informed the Reds that he is not healthy enough to pitch.In 12 major leagues starts this season, Bailey is 1-7 with a 6.68 ERA. He pitched no-hitters in both 2012 and 2013 for the Reds but has been limited to 38 starts over the last four seasons because of arm injuries.Bailey, 32, is making $21 million this season in the fifth year of a $105-million, six-year contract.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians starting first baseman Yonder Alonso will miss at least three games after being placed on the family-medical-emergency list.Cleveland made the move Friday before opening a three-game series against Minnesota. Among them are current and past St. Louis Cardinals players as well as fans.The Hall of Fame second baseman's public funeral was Friday at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis. He died last week at 95.Current Cardinals Matt Carpenter, Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright were among those on hand as were former Cardinals Ted Simmons and Bruce Sutter.Schoendienst spent most of his playing career in St. Louis and managed the team to the 1967 World Series championship and the 1968 National League pennant.
