Diaz, who missed the 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, has not pitched for the Rockies since July 24. He was 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA on four big league appearances this year.

They recalled him June 26 and he allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits with two strikeouts in one inning at San Francisco and was optioned the following day. He missed the entire 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March 2016. Diaz began the 2017 season on the 10-day disabled list before being reinstated and optioned to Albuquerque on April 29. He's 0-1 with three saves and a 2.13 ERA with two walks and 16 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings.

He allowed one hit and struck out one. Diaz hit 96-97 mph with his fastball -- he hit 99 mph three times in spring training -- and is scheduled to pitch one inning Wednesday. Diaz isn't expected to spend too much time on what can be a 30-day rehab assignment at the Class A before moving up.
