MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Seattle Mariners first baseman Ryon Healy injured his right ankle during a postgame workout Saturday and likely will miss at least a few games this week.Healy was injured following an 11-4 win over Minnesota and showed up on crutches and in a walking boot Sunday, when the series finale was postponed due to poor weather. They have enough talent and enough veterans — with big contracts — to be competitive. UTL Andrew Romine became the fifth player in major league history and the first since 2000 to play all nine positions in a game Saturday. Romine became the first player since Detroit's Shane Halter in 2000 to accomplish the feat. He also had a hit and a walk in the game as he joined Halter, Texas' Scott Sheldon (2000), Minnesota's Cesar Tovar (1968) and Bert Campaneris (1965) of the Kansas City Athletics as major leaguers to play all nine positions in a game. He played catcher for the first time in his major league career in the seventh inning. Romine, whose brother is a catcher for New York, had played every position except catcher this season. He was behind the plate for four batters and was charged with a passed ball. He recorded five putouts in the game.

UTL Andrew Romine is scheduled to play all nine defensive positions on Sunday in the season finale in Minnesota. Only four other players have played all nine positions in a single game in major league history. Romine has played every position, but catcher in his career, including three pitching performances. "I would prefer to do it (catching) the first inning and get it over with, but I don't think that's going to happen because we have to rotate too many people," Romine said. "I think the difficult comes in after we get back into the infield, so I'll probably start in the outfield, get all those done. Third, probably first, then it becomes hairy because you've got to take guys out and move them around. Not everybody can catch and not everybody can play first. Not everybody can play short."

INF/OF Andrew Romine will not play all nine positions in a game during the homestand. Manager Brad Ausmus has kicked around the idea the last couple of weeks. "It's not going to happen here," Ausmus said. If Romine goes around the horn, it will be during the final series at Minnesota if the game has no bearing on the American League playoff race. Romine has pitched in relief during three lopsided games in his career.

UTIL Andrew Romine may or may not play all nine positions in a game at Comerica Park in the last homestand of the season. "I haven't decided IF he will," manager Brad Ausmus said. "First of all, I have to talk to (GM) Al (Avila) and then I have to talk to the other team's manager." Detroit has games with the White Sox, Oakland and Minnesota remaining at home before closing the season on the road. Ausmus would do it at Comerica Park for the home fans but not against Minnesota, in contention for a wild-card berth.

TORONTO -- Detroit Tigers left fielder Mikie Mahtook was a late scratch from Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays because of a sore left groin.Andrew Romine played in left field in place of Mahtook.Mahtook is batting .276 with 11 homers and 34 RBIs this season, Romine entered the game batting .238 with four homers and 21 RBIs.

C Andrew Romine had his suspension for his part on an Aug. 24 brawl against Detroit reduced from two games to one game, and he served it Friday night. "They came out with one, and now I'm looking forward to moving on, not having anything looming over your head."

INF/OF Andrew Romine started in center field for the Tigers a day after getting caught at the bottom of a pileup during a benches-clearing brawl Thursday against the New York Yankees. Romine's brother, Austin Romine, was involved in starting the incident when he went nose-to-nose with Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera at home plate. Neither Romine was injured seriously in the melee, but Andrew has a few marks on his body after trying to separate players from the two sides, including his brother.

3B Andrew Romine got the nod Sunday to fill in at third base for Nicholas Castellanos. Romine lined out to the pitcher his first time up but in his next two at-bats hit doubles. The first set up Dixon Machado for a two-run double when Detroit scored four times in its 6-1 win. Good chance he'll be in the lineup somewhere Tuesday because manager Brad Ausmus likes to go with the hot bat.

C Austin Romine exited Sunday's game after the sixth inning with a bruised left hand. Manager Joe Girardi said he does not expect Romine to be placed on the disabled list. Romine was injured when he was hit on the left hand and had a sizable bruise from being plunked by RHP Steve Cishek. In the second inning, he took a ball off his neck during an at-bat by SS Adeiny Hechavarria. Hechavarria swung at the 0-1 pitch in the dirt and the ball bounced into Romine's neck.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera will miss Saturday's game in Minnesota after sustaining a right clavicle contusion in Friday's game.Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said Saturday that Cabrera is still sore. The big first baseman had a ground ball take a high hop and deflect off his right chest on Friday. He stayed in the game defensively but was pinch-hit for in his at-bat in the next half-inning.Ausmus said after Friday's game that he didn't consider the injury to be long-term and Cabrera was classified as day-to-day. Still sore on Saturday, Cabrera was held out of the starting lineup as Andrew Romine started at first base.Cabrera is hitting a career-low .261 in 82 games this season. He's hit 12 homers and driven in 47 runs. Ausmus said he had been considering a day off Saturday for Cabrera anyway.

RF Andrew Romine made his first career start in right field. He had made three appearances in right, a total of 5 1/3 innings. Romine has started at every position this year except catcher and pitcher. The last Tiger to do that was Shane Halter, a former Royal, in 2000.

2B Andrew Romine broke a 41-inning Detroit run without a home run Friday night when he launched his fourth of the season into the left-field seats. Romine was filling in for an ill 2B Ian Kinsler. He also had a double, one of only six the Tigers hit between Romine's home run and one hit by UT Dixon Machado in the second inning July 6.

CF Andrew Romine had a hand in all three Detroit runs Saturday night, going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Until going 3-for-7 in the first two games at Petco Park, Romine was hitting .170 on the road.

2B Andrew Romine ended White Sox RHP Miguel Gonzalez's perfect-game bid with a leadoff single in the seventh on Sunday. He also had an RBI triple. He is batting .238.

UT Andrew Romine has played in six of Detroit's last seven games and is getting extensive playing time thanks to his ability to play multiple positions. Romine made his fifth start at shortstop Sunday night. He has played six positions in the Tigers' first 42 games, appearing in 33 of them. He has not caught, pitched or played right field to date. "I'm fine," Romine said. "I'm ready to go."
