A Future's Game participant last season, Morris is coming off a nice 2010 season and will be getting his first taste of Triple-A. Owens had an outside shot at a rotation spot after a terrific year at Double-A, but he'll get some more seasoning. | ||||||

The Pirates are shutting down pitching prospect Bryan Morris for the time being. | ||||||
Morris has thrown 103 innings so far this year and has recently shown signs of fatigue. The Pirates have decided to shut him down for a bit and will limit his innings this season to around 130. "Rather than limit his innings each start . we felt it was good to take a couple starts off, tweak his delivery and then get him back out there," GM Neal Huntington said. The former first-round pick boasts a 2.97 ERA on the year but has allowed a combined 14 runs over his last three outings. | ||||||
