Goldschmidt had an MRI exam and a cortisone shot in the elbow Tuesday in Arizona, but no structural damage was found and he was diagnosed with inflammation. Manager Torey Lovullo is optimistic that Goldschmidt can play this weekend at home against San Diego.

I wanted to give some guys some time off, and then you're going to see some guys get some rest coming out of Colorado. It just makes a lot of sense to me to make sure that these guys are healthy and strong."
