TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Ezequiel Carrera on the disabled list Wednesday with a fractured right foot.Carrera was replaced on the roster by outfielder Dwight Smith Jr., who was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. Smith was expected to start in left field in Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.Carrera, who had two hits and an RBI Tuesday in the 8-1 loss to the Rays, fouled a ball off his foot during that game.He is batting .297 with five homers and 15 RBIs this season.Smith was batting .250 in three games in a brief stint with Toronto, going 1-for-4 with a double before being returned to Buffalo.
