Wed Jun 21 202316:12Yankees Resting Giancarlo Stanton Against Mariners
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton will not start on Wednesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. It's a good time for Stanton to take a day off, as he's gone hitless with seven strikeouts in 11 at-bats in his last three games. The 33-year-old All-Star slugger has six home runs in only 26 games this year because of missed time due to injury, but he's batting a lackluster .196 (19-for-97) with six walks and 28 punchouts in 105 trips to the plate for the Yanks. With Stanton getting a rest day, Willie Calhoun will serve as the team's designated hitter while batting in the three-hole against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo.

Thu Jun 1 202316:00Yankees Return Giancarlo Stanton From Injured List
The New York Yankees reinstated outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday. The Yankees also reinstated right-hander Tommy Kahnle (biceps) from the 60-day injured list and moved left-hander Carlos Rodon (back) to the 60-day IL. Stanton is expected to return as the DH for the first game of a three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road on Friday for the first time in seven weeks due to a left-hamstring strain. The 33-year-old slugger only played one minor-league rehab game, so fantasy managers may want to expect a little rust from Stanton upon his return. However, when he's on, he has the ability to carry fantasy teams with his elite power stroke.

Wed May 31 202319:58Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson To Rejoin Team Friday
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) and third baseman Josh Donaldson (hamstring) will both fly to Los Angeles to join the team on Friday for the start of their three-game series against the Dodgers. Both players, as well as reliever Tommy Kahnle (biceps) are expected to be activated from the injured list. Stanton has been out almost seven weeks but will return as the DH after playing in just one minor-league rehab games, so fantasy managers may want to expect some rust. Eventually, the 33-year-old slugger will be mixed back into the outfield. When healthy, Stanton remains an elite source of power. The 37-year-old Donaldson has been out since early April and was looking washed up at the plate when he hit the IL, but he's expected to see regular playing time at the hot corner.

Wed May 31 202300:13Giancarlo Stanton Begins Rehab Assignment Tuesday
New York Yankees designated hitter/outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) began a minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset Tuesday, going 0-for-3 with a walk. The 33-year-old has been out since mid-April with a left hamstring strain, but he could potentially return to the Yankees as soon as this weekend at the Dodgers. Stanton was off to a decent start to the season before landing on the injured list, slashing .269/.296/.558 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 54 plate appearances. He has remained a solid source of power throughout his career when healthy, so fantasy managers will be pleased to see him return.

Sun May 28 202312:25Giancarlo Stanton Could Begin Rehab Assignment Tuesday
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) could begin his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday, and he isn't being ruled out yet for the series next weekend on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to manager Aaron Boone. Stanton has been out since mid-April with a hamstring strain, but he took on-field batting practice on Friday and is nearing his return. Barring a setback on his rehab assignment early next week, fantasy managers should have the 33-year-old slugger back by next weekend. Before his injury in April, Stanton had gone 14-for-52 (.269) with four home runs and 11 RBI in only 13 games played.

Fri May 26 202316:22Giancarlo Stanton Takes Batting Practice Friday
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) took on-field batting practice off a machine on Friday at Yankee Stadium. Stanton isn't quite ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend, but he's expected to go on one early next week. If all goes well next week in live game action, the 33-year-old All-Star slugger could come off the injured list to rejoin the starting lineup for a big three-game series next weekend on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Stanton never can seem to stay healthy for long stretches, but when he's healthy, he provides fantasy managers with elite power in a strong lineup. Before his injury, he had hit four home runs and driven in 11 runs in 13 games played.

Fri May 26 202309:08Giancarlo Stanton Not Ready Yet For A Rehab Assignment
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) won't begin his rehab assignment this weekend, but it's still possible it could start early next week, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Originally, the 33-year-old was supposed to be ready by the weekend, but there might have been something in Thursday's tests that the club didn't like. Fantasy managers should be excited to get Stanton back, as before the injury, he was slashing .269/.296/.558 with four bombs, seven runs, and 11 RBI over 13 games and owns a career .890 OPS. Expect the slugger to return sometime at the beginning of June.

Wed May 24 202321:34Giancarlo Stanton Could Go On Rehab Assignment This Weekend
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) will have tests done on Thursday, and he could begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend. Manager Aaron Boone expects Stanton to play some outfield on his rehab assignment. Whenever the 33-year-old right-handed slugger returns, he'll play some outfield while also continuing DH duties for the Yanks. The oft-injured outfielder hasn't played since mid-April due to a strained left hamstring, but there's a chance he'll be reinstated from the injured list at some point next week. While injury-prone, Stanton offers elite power in a strong lineup. He was hitting .269 (14-for-52) with three doubles, four home runs and 11 RBI through 13 games at the time of his injury.

Sat May 13 202311:34Giancarlo Stanton To Play Outfield When He Returns
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) did some defensive work on Friday, and Boone plans on using Stanton in the outfield upon his return from the injured list. Stanton hasn't played since suffering a Grade 2 left hamstring strain on April 15, and he's slowly making his way back to the Yankees' lineup. The 33-year-old is hoping to return in late May or early June, barring any setbacks. Fantasy managers must continue to be patient with the oft-injured slugger and continue to stash him in an injured-list spot. Stanton offers elite power when he's healthy, but he continues to miss valuable time. Before the injury, he was hitting .269 (14-for-52) with three doubles, four homers, 11 RBI and seven runs scored in 13 games.

Mon Apr 17 202314:05Giancarlo Stanton Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks
An MRI exam on New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) showed a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, according to a person with knowledge of the team's personnel decisions. Stanton was placed on the injured list on Sunday and will now miss four to six weeks, and considering his lengthy injury history, the Yankees could choose to treat him conservatively and hold him out even longer. Willie Calhoun served as New York's designated hitter on Sunday against the Twins and should see more playing time moving forward, although third baseman Josh Donaldson (hamstring) is on the cusp of a return from his own IL stint. The 33-year-old Stanton has elite power, but the five-time All-Star continues to miss valuable time due to injuries. He had four homers and 11 RBI in 13 games before landing on the IL.

Sun Apr 16 202312:07Giancarlo Stanton Going On Injured list
New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) is going on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a strained hamstring. He will go for an MRI exam on Sunday. Stanton injured his hamstring while running the bases in Saturday's game, and he'll miss at least the next 10 days as a result. In a corresponding move, the Yankees called up outfielder Oswald Peraza from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With Stanton out on Sunday, Willie Calhoun is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth against Minnesota Twins right-hander Pablo Lopez. Stanton should be stashed in all formats for his elite power. In 13 games before landing on the injured list, the 33-year-old slugger was hitting .269 (14-for-52) with three doubles, four home runs, 11 RBI and seven runs scored in 54 plate appearances.

Wed Feb 22 202300:08Aaron Judge Could Start Playing Some Left Field
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that, while there is no plan to start playing Aaron Judge in left field, the idea is "on the table" if it will facilitate Giancarlo Stanton getting more time in right field. Both Boone and Stanton stated that the outfielder/designated hitter would benefit from more playing time in the outfield. Judge split time between center and right field in 2022 but has never played right field, and Stanton spent most of his time in right field throughout his career before serving primarily as a DH. Fantasy managers have nothing to worry about with Judge, but a change in rhythm could be good for Stanton, who did hit 31 home runs in 2022 but only slashed .211/.297/.462.

Thu Jan 26 202313:18Giancarlo Stanton Feeling Great
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles) played in only 110 games last year and hit .211 while dealing with left Achilles tendinitis. However, he told the Yankees that he's feeling great this offseason, according to a source. If he can stay healthy, there's a chance he could work himself into semi-regular appearances in left field. Stanton saw just four regular season games in left field in 2022 and 34 in right field. Despite the low average, the 33-year-old slugger managed 31 home runs, which was the fourth time in his career he's hit that mark. Fantasy managers should know by now that Stanton will likely be on the injured list at some point during the season, but you can't argue with his elite power in a great lineup and home ballpark.

Fri Dec 23 202213:36Giancarlo Stanton To Play The Outfield "In Spurts"
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that he sees Giancarlo Stanton playing the outfield "in spurts" next season. Boone prefers to use Stanton in right field at Yankee Stadium on days when Aaron Judge serves as the designated hitter. Stanton could also play left field in other ballparks. The 33-year-old right-handed slugger has mostly been a designated hitter for the Yankees. He played in 38 games in the outfield last season, but none of those games came in the second half of the season. In addition to Judge, the Yanks also have Harrison Bader (center field), Aaron Hicks and Estevan Florial who will see time in the outfield. Stanton should already be outfield eligible in most fantasy leagues, so this news shouldn't affect his fantasy value heading into 2023.

Tue Oct 18 202219:44Giancarlo Stanton Hits Decisive Home Run
New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton got to the Cleveland Guardians early in game five of the American League Division Series on Tuesday, crushing a first-inning home run off Aaron Civale to give his team a 3-0 lead. It was his only hit in four at-bats, but it was an important one as they never squandered the lead, winning 5-1, and they now head to the Championship Series. Stanton has been disappointing this postseason, hitting .125, but has gone deep twice and driven in six runs over five games. The same can be said during the regular season when the slugger slashed just .211/.297/.462, though he did hit 31 bombs with 53 runs and 78 RBI across 110 games. Stanton should stay in the middle of the Yankees lineup but will still face a tough battle against a great Houston Astros pitching staff.

Fri Sep 23 202200:27Giancarlo Stanton Homers In Three-Hit Game
New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton went deep again Thursday night, hitting a two-run homer as part of a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Stanton has largely struggled in September, with a .692 OPS in 64 plate appearances, but he's now hit home runs in two of his last three games. That gives Stanton 28 homers, 49 runs scored, and 75 RBI to go with his .763 OPS this year. It hasn't been the campaign many hoped for from the slugger, but he still has time to contribute for the Yankees and fantasy managers alike.

Wed Sep 21 202200:13Giancarlo Stanton Hits Walk-Off Grand Slam Tuesday
New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton made his one hit count in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Pirates, going 1-for-4 with a walk-off grand slam, a walk, and three strikeouts. Stanton lined a ninth-inning Wil Crowe offering just over the left-field wall with the bases loaded to give the Yankees the win. The veteran has had an up-and-down season, slashing .210/.295/.453 with 27 home runs and 73 RBI. Hopefully, he can get things going and finish the regular season strong for the Yankees and fantasy managers.

Sat Sep 10 202210:59Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson Return Saturday
New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (foot) and third baseman Josh Donaldson are back in the starting lineup on Saturday against Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Corey Kluber. Stanton is serving as the designated hitter and is batting second after missing the last four games after he fouled a ball off his foot on Monday. Fantasy managers will want to get the power-hitting right-hander back into their lineups immediately. Donaldson was reinstated from the paternity list and will return to the lineup after missing the last three games following the birth of his child. He's starting at third base and hitting cleanup for the struggling Bombers. Hopefully for the Yankees, the return of both Stanton and Donaldson can get them going offensively.

Fri Sep 9 202216:04Giancarlo Stanton Remains Out Against Rays
New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (foot) remains out of the starting lineup on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Stanton fouled a ball off his foot on Monday and hasn't played since. The good news, however, is that he came off the bench as a pinch-hitter on Thursday, so there's a strong chance he'll return to the starting lineup at some point this weekend. With the 32-year-old slugger out again Friday, Miguel Andujar will serve as the designated hitter again and bat fifth against Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen. Andujar hasn't played much for the Yankees this year, and he's hit .240 (6-for-25) with a homer, three RBI and one run scored in seven games played since Aug. 9.
