De Aza made his second start in a Giants uniform Saturday, going 2-for-5 with a run scored in the win over the Rockies.

De Aza has been used sparingly since being acquired at the beginnings of the month. With news of Nori Aoki being sidelined with post-concussion symptoms, playing time could open up for De Aza against right-handed starters. Best case scenario for him would be a platoon with Marlon Byrd in right field. De Aza would garner NL-only consideration if that situation developed.

The Giants acquired De Aza from the Red Sox on Monday night, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.

The Giants will be his third organization of the season. Though he hit well in a Red Sox uniform (.292 with an .831 OPS), the veteran outfielder was just an extra piece for Boston, while the Giants apparently expect him to add much-needed depth to their injury-ravaged outfield. Angel Pagan also expected to be activated Tuesday, but his near-constant injury problems mean De Aza could see some time in center as well as right field.

De Aza is out of the lineup on Monday against the Yankees, according to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe.

After getting a lengthy run of starts with Hanley Ramirez regularly unavailable, De Aza's hold on left field may be running out. De Aza yields left field to Jackie Bradley on Monday and Bradley is in line for the lion's share of starts going forward.

With Hanley Ramirez (hand) and Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) both on the way back from injury, De Aza's hold on regular playing time has a short shelf life, but he's a useful piece right now.

With news the Ramirez, who has missed four straight, is heading back to Boston to undergo an MRI, De Aza will continue to be a regular in the lineup. Particularly if he continues to hit. Going back 10 games, De Aza is 12-for-37 with eight extra-base hits and nine RBI.

Once Dustin Pedroia (knee), Farrell will probably use right field to get Brock Holt at-bats, so De Aza's run of starts is not open ended.
