De Aza made his second start in a Giants uniform Saturday, going 2-for-5 with a run scored in the win over the Rockies.
De Aza has been used sparingly since being acquired at the beginnings of the month. With news of Nori Aoki being sidelined with post-concussion symptoms, playing time could open up for De Aza against right-handed starters. Best case scenario for him would be a platoon with Marlon Byrd in right field. De Aza would garner NL-only consideration if that situation developed.
Tue Sep 1 201500:17Alejandro De Aza: Dealt To San Francisco
The Giants acquired De Aza from the Red Sox on Monday night, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.
The Giants will be his third organization of the season. Though he hit well in a Red Sox uniform (.292 with an .831 OPS), the veteran outfielder was just an extra piece for Boston, while the Giants apparently expect him to add much-needed depth to their injury-ravaged outfield. Angel Pagan also expected to be activated Tuesday, but his near-constant injury problems mean De Aza could see some time in center as well as right field.
Mon Aug 31 201515:30De Aza out of lineup on Monday against Yankees
De Aza is out of the lineup on Monday against the Yankees, according to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe.
After getting a lengthy run of starts with Hanley Ramirez regularly unavailable, De Aza's hold on left field may be running out. De Aza yields left field to Jackie Bradley on Monday and Bradley is in line for the lion's share of starts going forward.
Sun Aug 16 201510:52De Aza out of lineup Sunday against Mariners
De Aza is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.
De Aza has made three starts in left field since Hanley Ramirez went down with a foot injury last Friday, but will rest for the Sunday afternoon contest. Jackie Bradley -- who collected five extra-base hits Saturday -- will deservingly get the starting nod in his stead.
Sat Aug 1 201511:24De Aza not Saturday's starting lineup
De Aza, who started for Hanley Ramirez on Friday, is not Saturday's starting lineup.
De Aza will get squeezed for at-bats going forward as the Red Sox want to see Jackie Bradley and Rusney Castillo get opportunities against major league pitching.

De Aza started in left field Friday night in place of the injured Hanley Ramirez (shin). He went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a two-run single.
In a mild suprise, De Aza survived the trade deadline and is still with Boston. He'll lose at-bats to Jackie Bradley and Rusney Castillo in August, but with Ramirez and Mookie Betts (concussion) on the shelf, there's some present opportunity for De Aza.
Mon Jul 27 201518:29De Aza out of lineup Monday against White Sox
De Aza is out of the lineup Monday against the White Sox, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
De Aza's streak of six consecutive starts will come to an end, even though the Red Sox dealt his primary left field competition, Shane Victorino, to the Angels earlier in the day. Instead, De Aza will now have to fend off Rusney Castillo for at-bats, an endeavor that looks to be a tough undertaking given Boston's much more sizable financial investment in Castillo. De Aza didn't help his cause much by contributing little offensively during his six-start run, where he went a meager 4-for-20 with seven strikeouts.
Sun Jul 19 201516:06De Aza out of lineup Sunday against Angels
De Aza is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels.
De Aza has made his way into the starting lineup five times in the last six contests, but will rest for the Sunday evening tilt in Anaheim. With southpaw Hector Santiago on the hill for the Angels, manager John Farrell will play matchups by starting Shane Victorino in right field.

De Aza went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's win over the Yankees.
De Aza's no longer an everyday starter and is sharing right field since Shane Victorino returned to the lineup. He'll also fill in at left field when Hanley Ramirez is used as a designated hitter. You should expect three-to-four starts per week for now.
Sat Jul 4 201510:15De Aza not in lineup for Saturday's game against Astros
De Aza is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.
De Aza snapped an eight-game hitting streak with an 0-for-4 showing in Friday's game, so manager John Farrell decided to give him a day off Saturday. De Aza started 14 of the last 15 games, but with Shane Victorino back on the roster, he could see a drop in playing time moving forward.

De Aza continued to hit, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays.
De Aza, who was a homer shy of the cycle, extended his hitting streak to eight games and had his third triple in the past four games. Cash in now on De Aza, who is slugging .846 with a 1.283 OPS and 15 RBI in his last 14 games.

De Aza went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday night's win over the Blue Jays.
De Aza is on a roll of late, contributing at the plate (six-game hitting streak, 10-for-22) and making some stellar catches in the field. With Hanley Ramirez (hand) nearing return and the possibility that Shane Victorino (hamstring) could be activated Friday, it's fair to wonder how De Aza fits going forward. We'll probably see him platoon in right field with Victorino, at least as long as he's hitting.

De Aza extended his hitting streak to five games, going 3-for-4 with a triple in Monday night's win over Toronto.
De Aza has been a slugging machine over the past two weeks, with nine of 16 hits going for extra bases. What was a non-descript transaction at the beginning of June -- Boston acquired De Aza from Baltimore when it lost outfielders Shane Victorino and Daniel Nava to injury -- has become an expected source of production. With Hanley Ramirez (hand) and Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) both on the way back from injury, De Aza's hold on regular playing time has a short shelf life, but he's a useful piece right now.

De Aza homered for the third time in four games in Sunday's win over the Rays. He's getting regular at-bats these days with Hanley Ramirez (hand) unavailable.
De Aza has hit safely in four straight, going 6-for-15 with three homers, a double, six RBI and four runs scored. With news the Ramirez, who has missed four straight, is heading back to Boston to undergo an MRI, De Aza will continue to be a regular in the lineup. Particularly if he continues to hit. Going back 10 games, De Aza is 12-for-37 with eight extra-base hits and nine RBI.

De Aza had two hits, a homer and three RBI in Boston's loss to Baltimore on Thursday.
De Aza, who suffered a hand injury the night before, was able to go Thursday. With an injury to Hanley Ramirez (hand) and Brock Holt forced to the infield as a fill-in for the injured Dustin Pedroia (hamstring), De Aza should see some regular at-bats in the short term. Boston also recalled Jackie Bradley, who will share time with De Aza.

De Aza had his hand stepped on during a close play at first base in Wednesday night's win over Baltimore, the Boston Globe reports. He remained in the game, and manager John Farrell said De Aza will be available for the series finale Thursday.
De Aza had the hand taped following the game, but he'll be needed Thursday. The Red Sox suffered two injuries Wednesday -- second baseman Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) and outfielder Hanley Ramirez (hand) -- which should guarantee De Aza a spot in Thursday's starting lineup.
Tue Jun 23 201515:45De Aza not in lineup Tuesday against Orioles
De Aza is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles.
Brock Holt will take over in right field as De Aza sits against his former team after starting four straight games and eight of 10 dating back to June 12. De Aza is batting .262/.295/.429 in 14 games (44 PA) since joining Boston, up from .214/.277/.359 during his time with Baltimore, but he's just 6-for-25 (.240 average) in his career against Tuesday's starter Ubaldo Jimenez.

De Aza started in right field and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday night's win over the Royals. He has hit safely in three straight games, going 5-for-11 with three extra base hits, two runs and four RBI.
De Aza has started three of the past four and six of the last eight games, as it looks like Red Sox manager John Farrell has moved him ahead of Rusney Castillo for the moment. Once Dustin Pedroia (knee), Farrell will probably use right field to get Brock Holt at-bats, so De Aza's run of starts is not open ended.

De Aza was used as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning and tapped back to the mound for the final out in Boston's loss to Atlanta on Monday.
De Aza is 4-for-22 (.182) with one RBI since joining the Red Sox earlier this month.

De Aza made his Boston debut Friday night, starting in left field and going 1-for-3 with a strikout in a win over Oakland.
With A's lefty Scott Kazmir on the hill, manager John Farrell gave David Ortiz and Pablo Sandoval, two players that have been struggling against left-handers, the night off. That spurred a lineup shuffle that had Hanley Ramirez serve as designated hitter while De Aza made his first start in a Red Sox uniform.
