1B Jefry Marte was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday when 1B C.J. Cron came off the disabled list. However, there is a good chance he could be right back with the Angels because 3B Yunel Escobar landed on the DL on Sunday. In 23 games for the Angels this season, Marte is hitting .179/.253/.328 with two homers and nine RBIs.

1B Jefry Marte started his fifth game at first base with the Royals starting a left-hander. He went hitless in three at-bats and is hitting .211. Look for C.J. Cron to be back at first base Saturday.

LF Jefry Marte hit his 15th home run of the season Sunday. In the seventh inning, Marte propelled a 97 mph fastball from Houston Astros RHP Jandel Gustave over the fence in left-center field for a solo drive in an 8-1 win. Marte finished 1-for-3, scored twice, walked once and struck out once.

3B Jefry Marte stole his first career base Tuesday night. Marte stole second base in the first inning of a 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds, and finished 1-for-2 with a walk.

3B Jefry Marte hit his second home run in as many games while extending his hitting streak to eight games Monday night. In the bottom of the third inning, Marte sent a 90 mph fastball from RHP Dan Straily into the Cincinnati Reds' bullpen in left field for a solo drive, his 11th homer of the season. Marte added a run-scoring double before finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the Angels' 9-2 rout. In his past two games, Marte is 4-for-6 with two homers, five RBIs, a double and two runs scored.

3B Jefry Marte enjoyed a good day Sunday against the team that traded him away last winter. Marte entered the game 2-for-2 with a home run off Anibal Sanchez this year and 4-for-11 lifetime against Detroit. His two-run home run in the fifth broke a scoreless tie and spark Los Angeles to its 5-0 win. "He's showing us what was projected," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He can definitely drive a ball to all parts of the field. I think he's understanding ... with two strikes he shortened his swing up and drove the ball to center for a sac fly. Hopefully this experience of getting at-bats is going to let us see exactly what his upside is and see if he can reach it." Marte will go back to the bench when Yunel Escobar returns from his concussion but may see some spot duty.

1B Jefry Marte hit his ninth home run of the season Tuesday night. Marte pounded a 97 mph fastball from Seattle Mariners RHP Arquimedes Caminero down the left-field line for a solo drive with two out in the eighth inning to start a rally that gave the Angels a 7-6 win. Marte, who finished 1-for-4, has hits in 11 of his past 14 games and is batting .300 (15-for-50) during that stretch.

1B Jefry Marte was removed from the game in the second inning after getting hit in the left shoulder by a pitch from RHP Trevor Bauer. Manager Mike Scioscia said X-rays on Marte's shoulder were negative and that Marte is day-to-day.

LF Jefry Marte eventually left the Monday game with a left knee contusion after getting hit by a pitch. He stayed in long enough to hit his fifth home run, a solo shot that tied the game. Manager Mike Scioscia said after the game that he Marte was OK and that it wasn't expected to be a long-term injury.

1B/3B Jefry Marte got his first start -- at any level of baseball -- in left field Tuesday against the Twins. Manager Mike Scioscia said Marte, who played left field in the late innings Monday, would be able to handle the position because of his athleticism, and wanted to get him in the lineup because of his bat. Marte, who began the night with three homers in his previous five starts, went 2-for-3 on Tuesday, but also misplayed a liner by Joe Mauer into a triple. Marte took a couple steps in when the ball was hit, then retreated as the ball sailed over his head.

3B Jefry Marte hit his fourth home run of the season in Sunday's 8-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians. With two out in the sixth inning, Marte propelled RHP Danny Salazar's 85 mph change-up into the Indians' bullpen in left field for a solo drive. But Marte also committed an error that led to three unearned runs during Cleveland's four-run rally in the second inning.

1B/3B Jefry Marte started Friday's game against the Indians and went 0-for-3. Marte, who started in place of 1B/DH C.J. Cron, had homered in the Angels' two previous games, including hitting the club's first pinch-hit homer of the season Thursday against the Yankees.

INF Jefry Marte was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake and started Tuesday's game at third base.He was hitting .381 (16-for-42) since being sent down to Salt Lake on May 19.

INF Jefry Marte was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake Tuesday and started the game against the Tigers at third base. Marte was up with the Angels earlier this season but was optioned to Salt Lake on May 19. Since then, though, he hit .381 (16 for 42) with the Bees.

INF Jefry Marte was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday to make room on the 25-man roster for RHP Tim Lincecum, who was signed by the club earlier in the day. Because of a quirk in the rules, Lincecum must clear "optional waivers" before the club can remove him from the major league roster and assign him to the minors. It is expected to happen Sunday, but until then the Angels will play with a 24-man roster. Marte played in six games for the Angels, going 2-for-6.

Marte, 24, hit .213/.284/.413 with four homers and 11 RBIs in 33 games for Detroit last year. He batted .275/.341/.487 with 15 homers and 65 RBIs in 95 games for Triple-A Toledo.

Marte was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The infielder will simply provide depth down the stretch with the Triple-A season now over. Marte held his own at Toledo in 2015, slashing .275/.341/.487 with 65 RBI and 15 home runs in 95 contests. In 21 games for Detroit, he's 13-for-52 (.250) at the plate.
