The Twins needed to send a pitcher out to clear a spot on the roster for Chris Herrmann, and Tonkin was the odd-man out. The 24-year-old posted a 6.35 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 8/6 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings with the Twins.
