RHP Shae Simmons (Tommy John surgery in February 2015) and will be limited in spring training. He is expected to start the season on the disabled list, with a tentative May return.

Simmons (elbow) may miss the first month of the 2016 season, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Simmons underwent Tommy John surgery in February, so the start of spring training and the regular season will come just after a year since going under the knife. The 25-year-old has yet to ramp up baseball activities, and the club will need to see how he feels once he does, so this appears to just be an initial timetable.

Simmons (elbow) was placed on the 60-day DL on Friday.
This was merely a procedural move to free up a spot on the 40-man roster, with Simmons set to miss the entire 2015 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last week. Jason Grilli and Jim Johnson seem like the top candidates for the setup role with Simmons out of the equation, but non-roster invitee Jose Veras could push for a late-inning role as well.
Thu Feb 12 201516:29Shae Simmons: Undergoes Tommy John Surgery
Simmons (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery Thursday. He will miss the entire 2015 season.
This comes as devastating news for the 24-year-old Simmons and the Braves, who figured to rely on the right-hander as a key piece at the back end of the bullpen this season. Simmons was shut down in August due to recurring soreness in his shoulder, but he said less than three weeks ago that he had not experienced any discomfort since he began his preseason throwing exercises. In 26 appearances with the big club in 2014, spanning 21.2 innings, Simmons posted a 2.91 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB.

Simmons (shoulder) has not experienced any discomfort since he began his preseason throwing exercises three weeks ago, MLB.com reports.
Simmons burst onto the major league scene in late May, posting a 0.96 ERA in his first 20 appearances, but his shoulder began acting up in July. A late-August setback then ended his season, but the right-hander was cleared of any structural damage, with just rest prescribed to treat the issue. He is expected to progress to mound work next week.

Simmons (shoulder) is expected to be fully recovered before spring training, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Renewed soreness in Simmons' right shoulder pulled him off of his rehab assignment in late August and ultimately ended his 2014 season. The right-hander earned a promotion to the major league club in late May after posting a minuscule 0.78 ERA over 20 appearances with Double-A Mississippi and was immediately thrust into a setup role, and health permitting, the 24-year-old should have little trouble solidifying a spot near the back end of the Atlanta bullpen.
Fri Sep 5 201418:36Simmons (shoulder) not expected to return this season
Simmons (shoulder) is not expected to return this season, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
A right shoulder strain forced Simmons out of action in late July, and renewed soreness in the region forced the Braves to pull the right-hander off of his rehab assignment late last month. Given how long he's been out and the fact that he still hasn't been cleared to resume throwing, it's highly unlikely Simmons will have enough time to make it back before the end of September.

Simmons will be shut down for at least a few days due to recurring soreness in his right shoulder, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The 23-year-old struggled mightily in an appearance with Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, giving up four runs on three hits and two walks while failing to record an out. Apparently, Simmons' soreness has returned and he will be pulled off his assignment at least temporarily. If he can resume throwing in the next couple days, Simmons may still be able to contribute by early next month.

Simmons (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
Simmons has been sidelined since late last month with a shoulder strain but will return to action at Gwinnett on Saturday, putting him on track to return to the major league club at some point next week. The right-hander has posted impressive numbers this season but manager Fredi Gonzalez may be reluctant to immediately return him to a setup role.
Tue Aug 12 201418:51Shae Simmons: (Shoulder) Throws Bullpen Session Tuesday
Simmons (shoulder) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Tuesday without issue, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander had been limited to flat-ground work in the week since he resumed throwing, but Simmons cleared a major hurdle in getting back onto a mound Tuesday. Simmons will need to complete at least one more bullpen before heading out for a rehab assignment, so a return before the end of the week seems rather unlikely. The 23-year-old has posted a 2.91 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and nine holds in 26 appearances with the big club this season.

Simmons (shoulder) said Friday that he is "on track" to return from the disabled list, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. "It feels pretty good right now," Simmons said. "I'm working hard and getting a lot of strengthening and stretching done. It feels a lot better than it did."
It should be noted that Simmons did not say he is on track to return Monday when first eligible, rather he just implied that he's making progress. The right-hander took part in some light throwing Tuesday for the first time since landing on the DL, and he did so again Friday, but it's uncertain when he may get back onto a mound.

Simmons (shoulder) took part in some light throwing prior to Tuesday's game, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Tuesday's throwing session, which included two sets of 15 throws from 60 feet, was Simmons' first since landing on the DL last week. He said he's still "a little bit tight," but added that he's feeling good overall. While he almost certainly won't be ready to return Sunday when eligible, Simmons may be able to contribute by the middle of August.
Tue Jul 29 201415:08Braves place Simmons (shoulder) on DL
Braves placed RHP Shae Simmons on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 27, with a right shoulder strain.
Simmons got off to a great start in the majors, but he has struggled a bit recently, so the shoulder issue would explain it. No word on how long he'll be sidelined. The Braves have called up hard-throwing Juan Jaime to take his spot in the bullpen.

Sun Jun 1 201417:08Shae Simmons earns first career save
Shae Simmons earned his first career save with a scoreless ninth inning in Sunday's win over the Marlins.
With Craig Kimbrel and David Carpenter unavailable, the Braves turned to Simmons in what was just his second career appearance. The save didn't come easy, as he gave up two singles and a walk but was able to escape the jam with a double play and a fielder's choice. Simmons appears to be third in line for saves for now, though Jordan Walden (hamstring) is due back soon.
