Fri Jan 520:18Braves Sign Luis Guillorme, Avoid Arbitration With Huascar Ynoa
The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent infielder Luis Guillorme to a one-year, $1.1 million eal on Friday and also avoided salary arbitration with right-hander Huascar Ynoa by inking him to a one-year, $825,000 deal. Guillorme, 29, is a left-handed hitter who played second base, third base and shortstop in 2023 and slashed .261/.344/.333 in 823 plate appearances over the last six seasons in Queens. The Venezuelan utility infielder is mostly useful for his defensive abilities, as he has only five home runs and 48 RBI in 334 career games played, and playing time isn't going to be easy to come by in Atlanta. Ynoa missed all of last season after having Tommy John surgery in September of 2022. The 25-year-old should be ready to go at some point in 2024, but he holds a bloated 5.22 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 122 1/3 innings over 31 appearances (24 starts) in his four years with the Braves.

Tue Jul 25 202320:51Luis Guillorme Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks
Imaging revealed that New York Mets third baseman Luis Guillorme (calf) has a Grade 2 strain of his right calf, which is expected to keep him sidelined for four to six weeks. Guillorme is going to miss well beyond the 10 days on his injured-list stint, and he might not even be able to return until the final month of the regular season in September. The 28-year-old didn't have much fantasy value in a part-time role for the Mets when he was healthy, and he was hitting .238/.304/.347 with only one home run, six doubles, a triple, nine RBI and 12 runs scored in 50 games and 114 plate appearances at the time of his injury. Brett Baty should continue to see most of the starts at the hot corner for the Mets moving forward.

Sat Jul 22 202316:22Luis Guillorme Placed On Injured List
New York Mets infielder Luis Guillorme (calf, ankle) has been placed on the injured list following an injury he suffered during Saturday's game. The 28-year-old appeared to hurt his calf or ankle while trying to field a grounder that hit off his body. The Mets haven't officially announced who they will recall in a corresponding move. The expectation is that they will make a move shortly before the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday.

Fri Jun 9 202312:06Luis Guillorme Expected To Be Recalled
With New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) likely landing on the injured list on Friday, infielder Luis Guillorme is traveling to Pittsburgh to meet up with the team. It appears that he will be the corresponding move for when Alonso officially goes on the injured list. Guillorme will serve as a utility infielder for the Mets for the time being with Alonso missing some time. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter has played in 27 games for the Mets in 2023 and is hitting .233 (14-for-60) with two doubles, no homers and three RBI in 68 trips to the plate. He's more useful for his glove than his bat, as he has a .264/.351/.328 career slash line with only four home runs and 42 RBI in six big-league seasons.

Mon Aug 15 202218:25Luis Guillorme Expected To Miss 3-4 Weeks
The New York Mets placed infielder Luis Guillorme (groin) on the 10-day injured list due to a left groin strain on Monday. He is expected to miss three to four weeks. The 27-year-old suffered the injury during Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies while he was running the bases. Guillorme has been the team's primary third baseman lately. Eduardo Escobar is getting the start at the hot corner on Monday and he is likely to see a significant increase in playing time with Guillorme out. While there had been speculation that the Mets could call up third base prospect Brett Baty to replace Guillorme, manager Buck Showalter put a rest to that speculation on Monday. Showalter said that neither Baty nor fellow prospect Mark Vientos were options to join the team at this time.

Sun Aug 14 202216:45Luis Guillorme Removed Early On Sunday
New York Mets infielder Luis Guillorme (leg) was removed early during Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He came up limping after running around the bases in the fourth inning. Eduardo Escobar came into the contest, but is dealing with a oblique injury himself. This appears to be a precautionary move to get Guillorme out of the contest. Fantasy managers should check back later in the day for another update on his status.

Wed Aug 3 202216:31Eduardo Escobar, Luis Guillorme To Platoon At 3B
New York Mets skipper Buck Showalter is comfortable moving forward with a platoon situation at third base between Eduardo Escobar and Luis Guillorme. Escobar was out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against Washington Nationals right-hander Anibal Sanchez, and the 33-year-old veteran switch-hitter figures to be on the short side of the platoon moving forward. That means he'll likely only be at third base when the Mets are facing a left-handed pitcher. Escobar is hitting just .199 (48-for-241) against righties this year while going 30-for-115 (.261) with six of his 12 homers against southpaws. Meanwhile, the lefty hitting Guillorme is batting .312 (49-for-157) with both of his home runs and nine RBI against righties in 2022.

Mon Jun 20 202211:32Luis Guillorme Out Against Left-Hander
New York Mets second baseman Luis Guillorme is not in the starting lineup on Monday against Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers. Guillorme has gone 8-for-31 (.258) with no home runs and only one RBI in the last two weeks, but overall he's hitting .320/.404/.383 with a homer, seven RBI and one stolen base in 148 plate appearances over 46 games for the Mets as a solid utility infielder. With the 27-year-old sitting against a southpaw on Monday, Jeff McNeil will get the nod at the keystone and will bat seventh against Rogers. McNeil has gone 16-for-41 (.390) with a homer and seven RBI in the last two weeks, and he's also hitting .292 with five RBI in 72 plate appearances against lefties in 2022.

Tue May 31 202213:35Luis Guillorme Earning More Opportunities
New York Mets infielder Luis Guillorme has been on a significant hot streak of late, slashing .475/.533/.525 over his last 15 games, and he has even occupied the leadoff spot in the batting order while Brandon Nimmo has been out with injury. Guillorme doesn't offer much in the way of power or speed, with just one homer and one steal this season, but he's had multiple hits in each of his last three games and is forcing manager Buck Showalter to keep him in the lineup. Guillorme could be a serviceable fill-in in deep points leagues for fantasy managers.

Tue May 3 202214:34Luis Guillorme In Tuesday's Game 1 Lineup
New York Mets infielder Luis Guillorme is in the starting lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves and right-hander Charlie Morton. The 27-year-old is batting .258 with a .361 on-base percentage in 37 plate appearances for New York. He's hitting eighth and starting at shortstop on Tuesday. The infielder has a hit and two walks in seven career plate appearances against Morton. He's certainly worth a look as a streaming option in deeper leagues where on-base percentage is part of the scoring.

Sun Aug 1 202113:22Luis Guillorme Heads To The Injured List
New York Mets infielder Luis Guillorme (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left hamstring strain. The versatile infielder came on as a pinch-runner in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday, and came around to score on a Dominic Smith single, but seemed to pull up slightly as he crossed the plate. Pitcher Geoff Hartlieb was called up to the active roster to take his place. Guillorme was likely not on many fantasy rosters, but he can now be dropped. J.D. Davis, Jonathan Villar, and Brandon Drury figure to see slight upticks in playing time.

Sat Jul 31 202101:55Mets get Báez, Williams from Cubs for outfield prospect
NEW YORK (AP) — Javier Báez got his wish: He's headed to New York to play with Francisco Lindor. But first, the Mets are counting on their big-name newcomer to replace his good buddy at shortstop for a while. With the trade deadline fast approaching Friday, the NL East leaders acquired Báez and pitcher Trevor Williams from the Chicago Cubs for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong. Báez, a two-time All-Star and 2020 Gold Glove winner, gives New York an immediate fill-in for Lindor. The star shortstop, obtained from Cleveland in a blockbuster deal last winter, is sidelined with a strained oblique and not expected back until at least mid-to-late August. “I’m super excited. I couldn’t be happier," Lindor said. "I can’t wait for him to come out here and put on a show for everybody.” The flashy Báez, who can become a free agent after the season, is batting .248 with 22 home runs and 65 RBIs. He has a .775 OPS and 13 stolen bases in 16 tries, but also leads the National League with 131 strikeouts.... [More]
