Fri Aug 7 201517:34Gomez outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday
Gomez was outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.
Gomez hasn't displayed the ability to hit consistently in the majors, batting just .181/.212/.323 over 66 games with the Brewers this season. He will now return to the minors, and his removal from the 40-man roster pushes him further away from a potential return to the big league club.
Wed Jun 10 201515:41Gomez (head) in lineup for Wednesday's game against Pirates
Gomez (head) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
Gomez has not started a game since last Wednesday -- when he dove into the stands and had to be removed from the contest -- but he will be in the lineup against the Pirates on Wednesday night. Gomez will play second base and hit seventh against Pirates starter Charlie Morton.
Mon Jun 8 201515:51Gomez (head) out of lineup once again Monday against Pirates
Gomez (head) is out of the lineup once again Monday against the Pirates.
While Gomez appears to have avoided any serious injury related to a crash into the stands last Wednesday, he's yet to rejoin the lineup. However, he's no longer an everyday player anyway, so it's a bit unclear whether his absence is related to the head issue or not. Regardless, consider him day-to-day with the injury until he returns.
Sun Jun 7 201513:13Gomez (head) remains out of lineup Sunday against Twins
Gomez (head) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Twins.
Gomez appears to have avoided a concussion, but has yet to appear in the weekend series that began Friday. Consider the infielder day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against the Pirates.
Sat Jun 6 201511:49Gomez (head) remains out of lineup Saturday against Twins
Gomez (head) remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Twins.
Concussion tests were negative after Gomez crashed into the stands behind third base Wednesday, but he did not appear in Friday's series opener and his availability for the remainder of the weekend is uncertain. Luis Sardinas will start at second base Saturday against right-hander J.R. Graham.

Gomez was removed from Wednesday's game after diving into the stands during the sixth inning, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports.
It's not clear if Gomez was removed from Wednesday's game due to a specific injury or simply for precautionary reasons, but expect the Brewers to provide an update on his status in the near future.

Gomez and Elian Herrera are in line to share the second base duties for the Brewers moving forward after starting second baseman Scooter Gennett was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Monday.
Gomez and Herrera split the second base duties when Gennett was on the disabled list earlier in the season, and they will likely do so again with Gennett now in the minors. Herrera's ability to hit from both sides of the plate gives him a small advantage over Gomez, but neither player is hitting particularly well, and both can play other positions, so expect the Brewers to utilize some sort of soft platoon at second base for the time being.
Sat May 16 201515:41Gomez not in lineup for Saturday's game against Mets
Gomez is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
Gomez started each of the last four games, but he will be held out Saturday in favor of Luis Sardinas. Gomez and Sardinas figure to share the shortstop duties for the Brewers while Jean Segura (finger) is on the disabled list.

Gomez will likely see more action at shortstop in the coming weeks with Jean Segura (finger) landing on the disabled list.
Gomez started Wednesday's game in place of the banged up Segura and is the only player besides Segura to start at shortstop for the Brewers this season, so naturally he figures to see an increase in playing time in Segura's absence. Triple-A call-up Luis Sardinas will see some time at shortstop at well, but Gomez is the favorite to be the biggest beneficiary of Segura's setback, at least initially. Gomez is hitting just .241 this season, but he owns a .715 OPS thanks to eight extra-base hits over his 62 plate appearances.

Gomez started at shortstop Monday and went 2-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored in the Brewers' win over the Dodgers.
The long ball was the first of Gomez's big league career, and it came against Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw in the eighth inning. Gomez offers more offensive upside than Elian Herrera, and the duo will continue to push each other for playing time as the Brewers' utility options to begin the season. If Jean Segura (head, day-to-day) returns Tuesday, Gomez seems likely to get the nod at second base.
Wed Apr 29 201510:27Gomez in lineup for Wednesday's game against Reds
Gomez is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Gomez will start at second base Wednesday for the second straight day, and hit eighth against Reds starter Mike Lorenzen. Gomez and Elian Herrera have shared the second base duties with Scooter Gennett (hand) on the disabled list, but one of the two will likely lose his roster spot when Gennett returns to action next week.
Tue Apr 21 201517:43Gomez not in lineup for Tuesday's game against Reds
Gomez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.
Gomez appeared to set to be the regular second baseman with Scooter Gennett (hand) injured, but it will be Elian Herrera who gets the first start at the keystone following Gennett's placement on the disabled list Tuesday. It's not exactly clear how Gomez and Herrera will divide the starts at second base, but expect them to share the duties in some fashion.

Gomez could see a boost in at-bats over the next several weeks with Scooter Gennett (hand) on the disabled list.
Gomez has already started four games at second base this season, so he figures to serve as the Brewers' primary second baseman while Gennett is sidelined, with Elian Herrera also seeing some action at second base. Gomez has not homered or stolen a base this season, but he does have three doubles and two RBI in just 14 at-bats.
Mon Apr 20 201516:02Gomez in lineup for Monday's game against Reds
Gomez is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Gomez will hit eighth in Monday's batting order and get the start at second base in place of the injured Scooter Gennett (finger). Gennett could miss another game or two with his injury, so Gomez could see a couple starts this week.

Gomez went 3-for-5 with three doubles and two RBI while starting games at second base Saturday and Sunday.
Gomez started back-to-back games in place of starting second baseman Scooter Gennett and more than held his own. He is not a threat to Gennett's job at this point, but his showing over the weekend may earn him some extra at-bats in the short term.
Thu Apr 2 201513:42Gomez has made Brewers' Opening Day roster
Gomez has made the Brewers' Opening Day roster, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Gomez did not do much hitting this spring, but his ability to man the shortstop position helped him make the club as a utility infielder. He will be the top backup at shortstop and second base, and could see some action at third base as well.
Tue Sep 2 201412:13The Brewers called up Gomez from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday
The Brewers called up Gomez from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports.
Gomez earned his first trip to the majors since 2011 by posting an .808 OPS over 121 games over Triple-A Nashville this season. He will play almost exclusively off the bench for the Brewers, but could see some action at the shortstop position, where the Brewers have struggled to get much offense all season.

Tue Oct 1 201317:23Brewers re-sign Hector Gomez to minors deal
Brewers re-signed INF Hector Gomez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Gomez hit just .196/.238/.255 in 406 plate appearances this past season at the Triple-A level. The 25-year-old Dominican shortstop was once regarded as a fairly promising prospect, but that's all over now.
