ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have released third baseman Adonis Garcia so he can play overseas.The team says on Twitter that Garcia has a "desire to play in South Korea for the 2018 season."The 32-year-old Garcia likely would have entered spring training behind Johan Camargo and Rio Ruiz in Atlanta's competition at third base. New president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos has said the team may add another option at third through a trade or free agency.Garcia hit .273 with 14 homers and 65 RBI in 134 games in 2016. His playing time decreased in 2017, when he hit .237 with five homers in 52 games. He was hitting .247 with four homers and 16 RBIs in 36 games when he hurt his hand on a swing. Garcia played in three minor league rehab games, including one with Triple-A Gwinnett.
